Well, it's not like his mind would've gone straight to that, especially when he had 'Team Rocket' and the Donphan attack taking his focus. After the danger towards HIM is taken care of, he'd likely look at the campsite and figure out that she, nor her group, got back to the camp and have the worry swarm him from there. That's just a possibility, of course.
