I would take Vivillon over Butterfree, but I do have to admit both are good early-game.

Vivillion is also amazing in competitive pokemon NU. They both get sleep powder. Hurricane spam is always welcome right?

The problem with vivillion is that while it is faster which is a definite plus. You get scatterbug at level 17-21.

So you miss out on gust and psybeam.

Vivillion also cannot take a special attack unlike butterfree. I just re-did corey and my butterfree lived a +2 air cutter with 6hp.

I would say butterfree is more potent.

Hurricane is very useful but i prefer bug buzz. Forest field when it's used gives bug buzz an advantage.

Butters is good, but for my money, I'd just use some of my Common Candies to get Vivs Protect, Gust, and Psybeam.

But then, I abuse Common Candies and Pokesnax like they're going out of style.
