laggless01 51
I noticed that only when someone posts a new message in a thread, it gets shown, since the date of the last post decides where the thread it's in shown on the forum page.Editing posts doesn't get mention, and that can be slightly annoying if you want to show new findings in a thread, without double posting. However, letting edits decide too might have it's weaknesses too, if the matter of the edit is content-wise insignificant.Personally, I don't know if it would be overall better if edits would be treated like new posts as 'last update', which is how the pages are organized (top = most recent).Post what you think about it here. Etesian 8
Site questions/suggestions generally go in the Grand Hall subsection. It'd have it's pros and cons for Edits to be shown as new posts, but maybe an option for that could be added. A check box asking whether the edit should be shown as a new post or not, kinda like Ace Members' "Show Edited By" checkbox. Well, that'd be my idea, how difficult that'd be to implement, I dunno. Jericho 114
Grand HallNew to the site? Feel free to introduce yourself here! Additionally, questions and suggestions about the site's development can be posted here as well~ Site/Forum Suggestions belong in the Grand Hall. It might be nice if the forum worked that way, but it might not make sense in the fact that not all EDITs are shown and/or relevant.
laggless01 51
Ah, I didn't know if I needed to categorize it in bug reporting, reborn city or somewhere else. Sorry about that. Maybe show dates of 'last post' and 'last edit', making the former a bit more important might work. But yeah, it's difficult to know how significant an edit is. Maybe looking at how much characters are added/taken away as a filter tool to keep spelling corrections under the carpet. But still it's a difficult thing to draw a line between in-/significant. Can I also replace this thread, or do I have to delete and repost it in the grand hall?

laggless01 51
Ah, ok. That's one less worry Also, if edits would become more important, then things like 'necro-editing' would be reality, too.
Arkhi 199
I've discussed this issue before. As far as I can remember, we don't yet have the capabilities to do this. One possible remedy is to post a reply saying "Post #x has been updated." This would bump the thread to the top. However, only Aces can delete their own replies, I believe. While moderators, staff, or admins could be asked to delete posts, it would be a hassle for threads in which particular posts are being updated frequently. The current setup seems the most effective without making an incredible change to the site's layout.
Chase 94
I was actually about to make an announcement regarding this...for now, we don't have the capability to bump a thread with an edited post. Ark nailed it for now. Edit your post, and then bump it by notifying that information has been edited (perhaps even post the edit in the new post as well.) I promise you. It's okay. It's actually one of the few times where you can Necropost if need be, as well as double posting, so long as you put the edited info in the post.
laggless01 51
Oof, that's a relief. Now I don't have to worry about getting flagged (or reported or whatever you call it) while highlighting that I edited information But indeed, it would need quite some change to make it work, and even more adjustments to make it functional and not-hindering.
