lmao starly is not available ingame w/o mystery egg. Staraptor is much better than talon especially since the gale wings nerf, especially in game. And for grounds, there's flygon, both nidos, excadrill, and krook just off the top of my head. Larvitar is hard carried by nostalgia, like hell Ttar is weak to so many common typings. Ttar is a lot better with the mega but we don't have that yet.

I agree with what you're saying, however I think that keeping Pyuk would be a good idea. Innards out can deal crazy damage if you're one shot and you can also run counter and screens. However yes Ampharos would go beautifully on that team.

Yo I just thought of something wild. The entire reason Melia even originally GOT the gym leader job was purely because Xen was after her and Cassandra is in Xen o.O I mean yeah its pretty obvious but I never put any thought to it before so yeah.

Personally, I would have: a pokemon with counter or mirror coat, a pokemon that can change terrains, and a pokemon with intimidate. Something that can stall would be a good idea too. For example, my Clefable has misty terrain and cosmic power and stored power if it ends up being needed. My Gothitelle has mirror coat. Both Infernape and Lycanroc are fast with a good priority if needed and still hit like a truck anyway. Roserade can tank most hits and then hit back like a truck. Vaporeon can take most special hits and start hitting sand attack or acid armor. My point is, get pokemon that can fuck with the opponent's team. Also, it's never bad to have a box solely for reserves. I have three rows of pokemon that I can use if I'm having trouble with a gym or a major battle.

Larvitar's entire line is overrated as hell and doesn't get viable until 55. Drilbur is decent don't get me wrong but strong ground types are EVERYWHERE in this game so you don't need to get one from the mystery egg. Larvesta is the closest thing but..... bug fire is just such a.... meh typing. While flame body is nice, Intimidate and Reckless are way better abilities for games like this.
