Single Status Update

  1. Dear like two people that saw my Pokemon Zenith topic, I've been putting in some more work for the project and things are coming along smoothly!
I have been taking a bit more time off to collect myself and consider new ideas and points for the plot.
These status updates likely won't be as "professional-looking" as the topic itself as I will be putting them out regularly and...just sort of want to be a little bit real if you know what I mean.
I've taken in the feedback and criticism and have been re-considering the "Tandor Pokemon" addition as my friends on Discord and some people on here have been telling me people would definitely think I'm trying to make a copycat despite my true intentions.
Overall though, the feedback and reactions have been positive and I'm glad people are already getting to see a bit into the story thanks to my little teases towards it.
As of now trainer sprites are still the priority, but I am no professional at making Fakemon of my own. Trust me I've...tried! Haha!
So instead, I've decided to incorporate more mega evolutions not only into the gameplay but into aspects of the story. I don't want to give too much away...but I can promise a few select megas for Pokemon that need them to thrive.
Such Pokemon include Farfetch'd, Lurantis, and Butterfree.
I hope for the few people that saw my topic, you're still excited for the things to come. I've added two more type specialists since I last made the topic, expanded the roster of characters ever so slightly. But do not fear, they will all serve their purpose.

Other than this...I have not much else to say, hope to get back at you all soon with some news during this spoOoOooOky season.~

Trainer sprites and mega evolutions are great, and it's nice to hear that development is going smoothly.
Remember to put focus towards the story and plot! To directly reference a post here,

"You could come up with two hundred original fakemon, and throw in twenty new and intricate field effects for good measure; this might get the player through a couple episodes. But you can't bury a boring, cookie-cutter Pokemon plot and bland, uninspired characters under a mound of 'features'. After the dazzling glamour of your shiny new things has worn off, people will realize your game has nothing else to offer and walk away. What keeps even the most casual players (those who are frustrated by every gym) coming back to Reborn is because they can't leave the amazing story incomplete; let alone abandon the characters they've grown so fond of. Without it's plot, Reborn is just an infuriatingly hard Pokemon game with a lot of field effects.
The number one thing you are doing with a Pokemon game is telling a story. Good quality sprites and maps are essential features to have, don't get me wrong. But fakemon and even Reborn's infamous field effects are also just features. These things are supporting material used to enhance the story, not the driving reason for someone to play the game."
An amazing story can be told with mediocre graphics, so make sure that the overall priority is telling the story like you imagine it.

Outside of sprites, I'd say it could use a bit of screenshots so that we can get the idea of what your trying to do and a new feature that has never been seen before that impacts the gameplay greatly in a way that's memorable and different from any other Pokémon fangame. Most importantly, if the overall gameplay is 'fun' instead of having a slow pacing story progression such as grinding, high wild counter rates and a big map with very few events. The default music from essentials should be thrown out the window and replaced with more awesome music. Hope this helps you! :D
