  1. Where in the world is Darisprites?

Happy Mother's Day, all. Just wanted to write a quick update. I'm not dead, yet. I haven't been able to work on Zenith at all which has pained me greatly. Why? Well my computer has been broken, and I was initially planning to write an "I'm back" update and nothing more once it was fixed. I did put that thing in the repair shop nearby ASAP, and it's a simple fix that just requires a specific part.

That specific part has been in transit from China for a month now. I checked with the shop last week to confirm how much longer it'd be and they said one or two days. It's been a week. So, I have been getting to focus on my real life responsibilities but who cares about that? I wanna make a Pokémon fangame, dang nabbit. Hope you all can forgive this, work is gonna resume as soon as that beautiful machine is back in my lap. On the bright side, I've had plenty of time to storyboard! Haha...hahahaha...hahah...

    Why me.

Anyway, thanks for reading, stay tuned, hopefully things can resume smoothly soon. Not getting to work on my love project is painful.

  2. What's happenin' forum

HAH does anyone remember that? I feel old. Anyway, back with a little update. Among my scriptside learning experiences I've continued making various needed things for V1. I may be bad at coding but I know how to sprite. Don't worry about my sleep schedule when I posted this at like 3 AM. Nah anyway guys I got a map for you. It's not too complete right now, I figured I'd do what Reborn did with the map style. On top of that, I'll also be leaving areas currently inaccessible and not yet thought out not...y'know, done. So you're not getting lied to on what you're getting in the current version. Hope you peoples like what I have so far~

  3. Putting out a small lil' update for all those that care. No I'm not dead, quite the opposite.
It's come to my attention the Reborn team have a much better work ethic than me, though despite that I've got quite a lot of version 1 of the game mapped out at this point. Sprites are all done, overworld and trainer and such. I've got the proper maps made, and have recently delved into the wonderful world of coding. Shoutouts to Marcello. Anyway, that's where the project is at the moment! Feels good when things start coming together. If anything major happens, I'll make another post.

Oh and for those that really care about my online shitposting presence, I recommend you check out my Twitter. 'Til then!...

  4. Dear like two people that saw my Pokemon Zenith topic, I've been putting in some more work for the project and things are coming along smoothly!
I have been taking a bit more time off to collect myself and consider new ideas and points for the plot.
These status updates likely won't be as "professional-looking" as the topic itself as I will be putting them out regularly and...just sort of want to be a little bit real if you know what I mean.
I've taken in the feedback and criticism and have been re-considering the "Tandor Pokemon" addition as my friends on Discord and some people on here have been telling me people would definitely think I'm trying to make a copycat despite my true intentions.
Overall though, the feedback and reactions have been positive and I'm glad people are already getting to see a bit into the story thanks to my little teases towards it.
As of now trainer sprites are still the priority, but I am no professional at making Fakemon of my own. Trust me I've...tried! Haha!
So instead, I've decided to incorporate more mega evolutions not only into the gameplay but into aspects of the story. I don't want to give too much away...but I can promise a few select megas for Pokemon that need them to thrive.
Such Pokemon include Farfetch'd, Lurantis, and Butterfree.
I hope for the few people that saw my topic, you're still excited for the things to come. I've added two more type specialists since I last made the topic, expanded the roster of characters ever so slightly. But do not fear, they will all serve their purpose.

Other than this...I have not much else to say, hope to get back at you all soon with some news during this spoOoOooOky season.~

      Dypatome

Trainer sprites and mega evolutions are great, and it's nice to hear that development is going smoothly.
Remember to put focus towards the story and plot! To directly reference a post here,

"You could come up with two hundred original fakemon, and throw in twenty new and intricate field effects for good measure; this might get the player through a couple episodes. But you can't bury a boring, cookie-cutter Pokemon plot and bland, uninspired characters under a mound of 'features'. After the dazzling glamour of your shiny new things has worn off, people will realize your game has nothing else to offer and walk away. What keeps even the most casual players (those who are frustrated by every gym) coming back to Reborn is because they can't leave the amazing story incomplete; let alone abandon the characters they've grown so fond of. Without it's plot, Reborn is just an infuriatingly hard Pokemon game with a lot of field effects.
The number one thing you are doing with a Pokemon game is telling a story. Good quality sprites and maps are essential features to have, don't get me wrong. But fakemon and even Reborn's infamous field effects are also just features. These things are supporting material used to enhance the story, not the driving reason for someone to play the game."
An amazing story can be told with mediocre graphics, so make sure that the overall priority is telling the story like you imagine it.

      Autumn Rain

Outside of sprites, I'd say it could use a bit of screenshots so that we can get the idea of what your trying to do and a new feature that has never been seen before that impacts the gameplay greatly in a way that's memorable and different from any other Pokémon fangame. Most importantly, if the overall gameplay is 'fun' instead of having a slow pacing story progression such as grinding, high wild counter rates and a big map with very few events. The default music from essentials should be thrown out the window and replaced with more awesome music. Hope this helps you! :D

  5. Greetings! About time I do something with this account...now you may recall seeing my profile mentioning something about showing off development of a fan-game of my own. I have decided to start making progresses in development public! While I would prefer not to advertise my project on traditional media sites such as Twitter or Tumblr due to how...fearful I am of Nintendo, I may consider it if the community on here shows enough interest for it. This is my first attempt at actually going through with development of a fan-game, and not just working on it in secrecy and mentioning it to a few friends. I have dabbled in the process of idea-development. A lot. A lot. I've been drawing since I was three years old, and if there is one good thing I could say about myself it's that I have a creative imagination. However, it's time to see if I can prove that to be true. The name of my fan-game is Pokemon Zenith. Through various ditched ideas and plots I've gone through over the years now, I have mixed the best ideas leftover from those along with adding plenty of new material to the table. I don't want to give too much away just yet, but I can give a general synopsis of the story at the end of this post. This game of mine is rather early in development, if you can even call it development at this point. The things I have focused on first and foremost are the creation of the characters. Character creation has always been my passion, and now that I have a stable story and (what I consider to be) unique characters to tie it together, I am more confident to proceed forward with the project. As of now, major/important characters have trainer sprites for all of them, with VS sprites, backsprites, and overworld sprites currently in the works. As for what will come after that, I have thought about creating the game's map. Now, the less I have to go back and edit elements that are set in stone the better. Although, I need to have something presentable at first before I go reaching out for possible assistance. This is my creation, and I would like to prove myself to the Pokemon fan-game community. Why do I mention all of this? Well, if I'm going to be honest with you, dear reader, I'm not skilled in all areas of sprite-work. Backgrounds, the sprites for the Pokemon themselves, and the logo for the game I would be less-skilled at making. This all accumulates to me creating this topic, so I may show off the development of my project to give examples of the passion I feel for developing my own story. It is so I could have something to present, even if I do not have a playable demo/version yet. So if this story synopsis that shall follow, or any other element of this post interests you, I'd appreciate it to the highest degree if you stuck around for what's to come. While schoolwork does occupy me, and I obviously need time to just relax and screw around, I'd like to make Pokemon Zenith a reality for you to play. Thanks for reading this long-winded thing here. So, without further ado, I'll end this post with a brief story synopsis of Pokemon Zenith. A region separated into districts, disputes among Gym Leaders and likewise figures, a feeling of something sinister going on in the shadows, and a regular shut-in dork somehow in the middle of it. Pokemon Zenith is set in this world, where a war centuries ago split the region into districts. While the leaders of these districts get along, live in peace, and allow passage between them, something has gone awry. Gym leaders are in disputes, gangs are making the streets a dangerous place, morals and ethics are being questioned by the public... Worst of all, the gym leader who served as a type of peacekeeper is currently out of commission, unable to distinguish the flames of chaos. So it is up to you, yes you, the total nerd to step up to the plate and take matters into your own hands. You'll make friends along the way, similar souls who will help you in your quest to restore the peace. So, what are you waiting for? Hop on your motorcycle and hit the road! However, be careful of what hides in the background. A nagging feeling of uneasiness may be the sign for you to watch your back, and not be so keen on trusting just anyone. Your worst enemies may be hiding in plain sight.
