Hey, just need to check something please,

Is the Life Orb on the absol event still 5% chance ? cause it"s been like an hour and I still doesnt get one.

Dunno about Absol, but if you want Life Orb, there is once in Amitrine Mountin or whatever that thing is called. You need Dive, Surfer, Strenght and Waterfall and use the strenght-rock-bug if I'm not mistaken.

Haha, yes, I've seen people on youtube solo'ing Julia with Charmeleon's Dragon Rage. Imho, Game Freak should nerf it a bit (maybe do it same to Night Shade-dealing damage equal to your level), because 40 HP true damage as early as level 17, is a bit ridiculous xD

Or keep it as it is, and give it to charmeleon at level 25, instead of 17. It's FAR TOO EARLY!

Yes, early game becomes easy to the point of brainless, since only thing you have to do is spamming Dragon Rage with Charmeleon and OHKO 90% of things.

I have used Spinarak/Ariados with Night Shade in my Bug monotype, but it was nothing compared to Charmeleon's Dragon Rage. Damage of Night Shade is equal to your level (not the absurd 40) and Spinarak/Ariados are too slow, so they have to tank firt before using it anyways. Charmeleon is pretty fast for this point of game, so it only makes things even worse!

It's not hard to solo Julia with Dragonrage. It took 7 and she was down, only Elextrode has like 45hp and Charmeleon can even outspeed Emolga and Blitzle.

I agree that Dragonrage is far to strong in the early, but I don't really care, because I never take Charmander as my starter. Only did it for the Mono-run this time ^^

I tried using Ariados once, duh. Quite the disappointment when I found out that Spider Web is NOT Sticky Web xD

    Slowpoke: Route 4 (Fish)

Is this the location to find Slowpoke?

Because I am searching now for an hour to find it, but no Slowpoke... ._.

    I used the Good Rod

You need to use the Super Rod. It is a rare encounter though. You can get the Super Rod in a sidequest after the city has been restored (after Ciel's Gym Battle)

Had the some problem as HellBoyOnEarth, maybe update the Location Guide to actually tell us, that we need to use Super Rod?

You know that 5 times more people are killed annually in the US by horses than by spiders? They are harmless and only attack when (heavily) provoked. Like shoving your hand in their nest. Plus, their webs are architectural/geometrical and mechanical marvels, and, additionally, spider silk has the same average tensile strength as steel (about 1 GPa).

They are a bit intimidating at sight, but truly marvellous creatures.

Duh, but I'm not living in the US, so why care about people getting killed by horses there? :P And I won't deny that spiders are useful and their webs are cool and all, but they still give me the creeps.

EDIT: sadly you were right Jess. Had to train my Vespiqen to level 25 for it to gain Power Gem. Well, not that I needed to that grind. Charmeleon kinda overdid it with her Dragonrage xD

Come on, fluttering IS elegance. I've loved observing ants when I was little. And bees and wasps and ladybugs as well. Even spiders, I kept silent, put them on a piece of newspaper and release them out of house, in fear of mum killing them.

What I can't stand is mosquitoes. Only ones I absolutely hate. The Hercules beetle, which Heracross is inspired from, is absolutely a gentle giant!

But, the absolute best bugs, are these https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Phylliidae. Leavanny is absolutely adorable, and inspired by these :D

Yuk! Ew! Pfui! Bah! The more or less only thing that I'm disgusted by to the point of fear are spiders. And while ants and butterflies are okay, any flutterthingy that can flutter against my face is a no-go D: I never saw a real Hercules beetle, but yes. Those ones are cool. But not spiders!

I got to like Bugs due to their elegance. Plus I enjoyed proving that they are strong under the proper battle plan.

Water is a solid defensive typing, so Water tanks are very good. I'm not a huge fan of Eeveelutions, even though I like their concept. I can't really explain why Water feels dull to me. It just doesn't excite me at all. Purely subjective reasons...

Alomomola is an anagram, which makes it interesting. And the Slow brothers are OK... Just in the normal category of dullness, lol.

Hmm... the bugs I know never showed me their elegance. Just crawling and clicking and fluttering *shudders* but yeah, bugs definitly can be strong, even though their stats often aren't.

Second best defense type after steel I think? I learned to like the Eeveelutions thx to Vaporeon :D  And I admit that water isn't really flashy or spectacular at all, but that kind of simpleness and dullness is what I like. I'm a simple man, afterall.

A Noctowl with Uproar would be very useful. It is tanky and hits quite hard.

I used to dislike Bugs, but now they are my favourite type. Really needs strategy over brute force to emerge victorious with them. Plus, they have great type coverage with many secondary typings. If you are a brawls-over-brains trainer, do a Fire monotype, if you are a strategist, use Bugs :)

I find Water a bit dull... So many of them and only a handful I find interesting to use... Like Swanna and Lapras! Also Kingdra, Azumarill, Tentacruel and Primarina are awesome. All the others though are kinda meh in my eyes :(

I never got to like Noctowl, I think it looks are just... strange xD

I never really liked most Bugs. I do like Scolipede, Escavalier and Forretress though. Durant is pretty cool too. I was pretty much a brawn over brain trainer all my life, until I started playing Reborn :D I don't like fire, since water is kinda my favorite type. Fire is such a basic typing.

I'm a big fan of Vaporeon, Slowbro/Slowking and Alomomola. As one can see I enjoy playing tanks.

Haha, my first ever special run was my Bug mono :)

Oh, by the way, I got a female Combee in my Bug mono file, evolved it and confirmed it. It learns Slash right after evolution, at level 21, and Power Gem at 25.

So your first time was with bugs, kinda creepy :D Water-mono for me.

Dang it... well, can't help it now. I don't want to train any other flying mon atm.

I always edit Bulbapedia in my free time, it is one of my many hobbies! xD

I am mostly impatient and hate grinding, so I always face Julia with level 12-15 mons. Grinding up Poochyena was necessary, because it was the first run I did and Julia had absolutely DESTROYED me! I was young and innocent back then :D

I'm often only going against Julia with 1 or 2 mons, so naturally I don't have to grind that much. Mostly just Trubbish for Toxic Spikes.

So you aren't young and innocent anymore? :D

that is my grinding spot and the levels are 9-15 100% I have grinded that place for hours (over several runs)

    Right you are, dear sir.

  10. Just now, Jess said:

Talented in looking up in unreliable sources, true :P

Maybe it's because, even by killing it at level 17, a Combee (and other unevolved pokemon) still gives pitiful EXP, so it doesn't make grinding any easier.

Pffff. Till now it was very reliable, thank you very much. Maybe you edited bulpedia just so you could make me be wrong? xD

That certainly is true. Also the mons range from lvl 5 to lvl 17, which is why I prefer to grind EXP either against the Trainer in the Grand Hall or in the nothern alley.

  11. Just now, Jess said:

Well, I also doubt you can find pre-Julia wild mons of a level higher than Julia's which is 12-13 (and 15 for Electrode) as well. This would make the game unbalanced. I insist that the max level you will find is something around level 10 tops, even from Headbutt trees. And I remember because in my first playthrough I actually had to level up my shiny Poochyena to 18, so that it evolves, only by killing Woobats, because it was the fastest, and most EV-worthy way of doing it.

If you find a single one of level 15-17 I'll admit I'm wrong, but I am not :P

I'm pretty much 100% sure that I fought lvl 15-17 Combees, since I grinded at those stupid trees for 1.5hrs :P and in the northern alley the mons go up to lvl 13 in Lower Peridot (?).

    combee10.jpg

quickly ran to the trees before the Grand Hall and headbutted a bit. AND FFS THE VERY FIRST POKEMON I SAW WAS A FEMALE COMBEE AND I FUCKING GRINDED 1.5 HOURS FOR THAT PIECE OF CRAP BEFORE >__<"

  12. 1 minute ago, Jess said:

Ohhhh, him! Duh, I forgot about him, you're right. Never realised why not just give them to the Mart seller. But nope about Vespiquen. I did a Bug mono, and she learns Power Gem at level 25. Check it here too, if you don't believe it. https://bulbapedia.bulbagarden.net/wiki/Vespiquen_(Pokémon)/Generation_VI_learnset#By_leveling_up

So, good luck grinding up to 25 :P. Even with mons of level 15, it is gonna take a while.

WHAAAAAAAT?! Then the german Pokewiki that I'm using is faulty :( It says Vespiqen learns Power Gem at 21. Urgh... that is kinda annoying. Ah, whatever. Charmeleon will carry us even without wings xD

  13. Just now, Jess said:

Nope. You can only buy Potions, Antidotes and Poke Balls in the Grand Hall. Common Candies are accessible in Sweet Co., in Obsidia, after defeating Julia. Also, Vespiquen learns Power Gem at level 25! How onEarth are you grinding up to that level with the wild mons being only at like 7 maximum? :o

Yes, we can! There is a guy standing BEFORE the shop, he sells Common Candys. Also Vespiquen learns Power Gem at level 21 in Gen 6 and afaik Reborn uses Gen 6 moves atm. And aren't the wild mons up to level... 15-17 or something? In the upper alley they go at least to level 13 and Headbutt trees drop mons up to lvl 17. Also I think after the factory the first Trainer shows up in the Grand Hall with mons roughly lvl 13.

  14. Just now, Jess said:

Vespiquen vs Julia? It evolves at level 21, and you only have 1 Cmmon Candy pre-Julia... It will probably become overlevelled in no-time. I don't think Vespiquen can tank more than a couple Electric type attacks this early on though... Maybe it will be useful to heal up Charmeleon though :)

As for the Dragon Rage, it is OP this early on. Why I said that the "tough part" is gone! Because it probably can oneshot everything apart from Electrode, whereas, if Julia was a mid/late game Gym Leader, you'd genuinely be in A LOT of trouble!

Uhm... there are more than just 1 Common Candy. One can buy Common Candys in the Grand Hall and I'm pretty sure that I find at least 2 or 3 Common Candys pre-Julia. I want to use Vespiquen to take care of Emolga with Power Gem, because I'm pretty sure Emolga outspeeds my Charmeleon.

Thats true. Though I don't think it really matters if Julia is mid/late game or not. Afterall we got - like you mentionend - a jerk like Sigmund and our friend Arclight, who pack enough electro-types for the mid- and late-game.

  15. 3 minutes ago, Jess said:

Ah, Flying type is nice, and Electric Gym is early, so the tough part is gone! xD Good luck with that! And be careful vs Sigmund and Arclight, even though you have plenty of counters till then! (Ahem, Charizard, Hawlucha, Noivern and Gligar...)

Tough part... yeah, no. With thanks to Dragonrage Julia is no tough part I'd say. I'll see about that though, I grinded an hour and a half to get a femal Combee today :D Tomorrow I'll see how good Vespiquen and Charmeleon can keep up with the gym.

    Thanks! :)

Awww, I'm sorry to hear. It's very important to not let Radomus set Trick Room from the beginning of the fight. And you absolutely NEED the two Poison/Dark type Pokemon available to have a chance against him. And a couple Sucker Punching 'mons help as well.

Give it another try! It is absolutely doable! Charlotte couldn't defeat me once in my Bug monotype (took her down with only 3 'mons, Crustle, Vivillon and a level 1 Paras, which survived the entire fight), after that, no weakness scares me! ;)

Sadly I don't have the safe file for that mono run any more :( But I don't think I would have a problem now, it was my very first try at mono run and I didn't really know what I was doing. Would have never tried to use Sucker Punch or care about Trick Room etc. Stupid me only knew how to try and hit harder and harder :D

    Maybe I'll do a poison mono-run later. Currently doing a flying-type.

  17. It is possible to get Azumarill and Togepi. You can get Azumarill from the mystery egg and Togepi is obtainable after completing the main story line. It's in the reward for one of the 3 restoration projects, railnet restoration if I remember correctly.

    Also: Flying Mono ftw
