  1. Hmm, flame, frost, force? Alright, let's do it. *15 minutes later* Stop interrupting me Meteor grunt!

  2. So...anyone else played the Epic Battle Fantasy series? I'm currently replaying the 4'th game on Epic difficulty, made it to the last dungeon and decided to head over to Battle Mountain. For those wondering, I bought the game on Steam. Yes, it can be played for free, but I feel like the game is good enough that it deserves to be bought.
  3. Aight, enough dreaming, tomorrow it's back to playing Reborn. Shade awaits...

    TM uses

Okay, that's a relief. Thank you very much.

    TM uses

A quick question I have, as the search bar doesn't search just "TM". Are TM's in Reborn infinite use, or are they "Use once, then gone forever"? Just asking so I know if I should hoard them for the very end of the game and then not use them anyway, or can I be more liberal with TM usage.
  6. Welp, PC broke down, had to use Startup Repair to fix it. It's working now, but that bodes ill...

Hmm...looks like the source of the problem is the Nvidia Windows Kernel Mode Driver.

  7. 1) There are people i.e. me that complain when the character has no personality, so it's a lose/lose either way, you are going to annoy someone regardless. 2) Fair point, though...yeah, I can't think of anything. 3) It does feel like you're just a sponge, soaking up the others up while giving little in return. Yes, characters do open up, but what's wrong with them doing so gradually, when they start to really trust you? Yes, I agree, some would never open themselves up as much, but those who do, you feel like you earned their trust. I don't know, I just have a bias towards not being a fan of silent protags, as they feel more reactive rather then proactive, alongside them just not feeling natural to me. And...alright, I will concede that a mute main protagonist does allow the development of other characters which in a game with as cast as large as this game has, is not a bad thing.
  8. Only the first...20 minutes or so of the game, though I heard about the overarching storyline. I'll be honest, I wouldn't even try to escape, I would just stay and live my life there if something like what happens in FFTA happened.
  9. This is more a problem I have in video games in general, but I absolutely HATE the Silent Protagonist trope. Honestly, I understand it when you're basically kind of like a self-insert, but I honestly prefer games where the protagonist is not only involved in the plot, but when he talks, when he makes his opinion known. It's only of my gripes with Pokemon games in general, from the main series to Mystery Dungeon. And no, implied dialogue does not do it for me, personally. There's a reason why I really like Vyse from Skies of Arcadia. The fact that he's a defined character who talks, in my opinion, makes him more believable and a better protag then if he was just a silent character for the player to insert themselves into. So...yeah, I don't like the fact that the main protagonist in the game is a silent one. I know it's probably a petty annoyance, but it's one that grates me nontheless.
  10. I don't know if I should say this, or even if I am even able to say this, but I feel like saying this... (NOTE: If this is the incorrect section to put this in, then I apologize, I simply thought this would be the best place to say this) I have a habit if dreaming and imagining scenarios and a life I know I won't have in reality (Most of these fantasies are about Pokemon. Go figure). I can dream up a bunch of fantasies or create one to visualize based off of something that already exists. For example, I am currently (Well, not right now, but when I'm not focused or when I'm in bed) dreaming, adventuring in...well, the realm of Pokemon Reborn itself. A new arrival, someone with experience in battling arriving and being forced to start anew from the bottom. So far it's been for the most part exactly like in the game itself (In my dreams, I've just took out the PULSE machine in Jasper Ward), with a few embellishments (Taking a blow from a Meteor grunt's Pokemon before I could get my Pokemon out...), though I am reaching the point where I am going to start putting in some nasty scenarios for myself, to make it...colder, darker. Major poisoning or injury requiring medical attention? To that extent, I've even avoided playing the game itself today just to give my dream self time to catch up (In the actual game I'm on my way to Shade's gym). I wonder...maybe I could try writing some fanfiction? Though I fear I might not be a good one, literature was a weak area for me. Plus, I fear I might write a bad character...I swear the fear of being shunned and being a dissapointment is going to kill me one day. Sometimes I genuinely wish I could truly delve into my dreams, experience everything firsthand, experience a life I know I won't have (Unless in ~50 years one will be able to upload their mind into a computer and create their own scenarios as they please...hey, a person can hope). Anyway, I'm grateful for anyone who felt like reading through my ramblings. I...probably sound quite weird, maybe even mad, but I genuinely find solace in my mind, even through these scenarios.
  11. What's with trainers of 3 having their most powerful Pokemon be second out of three?

  12. Alright, thank you guys for the advice. I wanted to ask when should I evolve my Growlithe (As I got a Fire Stone via mining), but then I realized that was a stupid question and I should evolve her once she learns all her moves, Flare Blitz included (Even though I don't really like attacks that deal recoil).
  13. 'tis been a while since I last did any Role-playing. Maybe I should think about getting back into it...

  14. The ones in the Grand Hall are infinitely refightable. I used them to bring my pokemon up to strength (They were at levels~27-28 right before Shelly which I decided was too low. I leveled them up to 31-32.
  15. You get a Carvanha later, after the second job with the Aqua Gang, which becomes available after defeating Shelly.
  16. Status update: The Mystery Egg hatched into a Vullaby. I do need a dark-type, so it's a nice thing to see, and the flying dual-typing pretty much means I can retire Unfeazant. I do still need to train the Vullaby up, however, preferably without overleveling the rest of the team.
  17. Virizion in Black. Paralyzed and at close enough to 1 HP that it makes no difference? Nope, let's burn through 40+ Pokeballs before he finally finishes off my team. Was especially painful as the other 2 Swords of Justice I managed to capture with the first 5 or so pokeballs.
  18. I'd have to mimic the answer and say Glaceon as well. Thank you everyone for the welcomes.
  19. Yes and no to the two questions. I didn't get the Mystery Egg yet. The "In it's entirety" I presume means just finding the fourfive police officers. UPDATE: I got the Mystery egg (As well as a second egg). Will update when I find out what the pokemon is. Also, may I ask, where is the move relearner? As, you see, I left my Emolga with my Growlithe and, well, my Emolga kind of leveled up and replaced Nuzzle, which I need to combo with Electro Ball, with Light Screen...
  20. I have read up on the rules. Most of them are familiar from other message boards that I've been in (Actually all of them), but it's nice to get a refresher. I haven't been part of a message board in a while, to be honest. I was in a bit of a silent phase, I guess.
  21. Hi everyone. Just a shy and (hopefully) friendly newcomer here. Anstane is the nickname, and I hope to be able to be a part of the community. I tend to prefer cool weather, frosty snow and...yeah, my favorite element is Ice. I much prefer the cold then the heat, that's for sure. I've never played Pokemon competitively, nor do I like to get into the very exact details. I just like to adventure and enjoy playing the game at my own pace. I've only recently discovered Pokemon Reborn, but I'm really enjoying it. I am a little worried about permanently missing some things, as I am a bit of a completionist, but hopefully I'll be able to get around that in a game with as much content as this, otherwise I might start melting from my brain overheating. And...that's it. I hope to be able to be an active member of the community.
  22. Greetings. I have just defeated Shelly and claimed my third (should be fourth, but, well, you know) badge. She was the easiest gym leader by far so far (Julie was a pain, but wasn't too bad, Florinia I needed to do a bunch of grinding and even then success only came after I tanked out her Cradily's Smack Down's and Sandstorms, and Corey was a pain because of that Skuntank of his, though at least a turn 1 Gust got rid of the corrosive mist). Now that I have a new level cap as well as leveling options, I decided to go over my team and see what's what. My team as of right after defeating Shelly: Level 33 Growlithe. Ability: Justified. Moves: Reversal, Fire Fang, Take Down, Flame Burst. Level 33 Unfezant. Ability: Super Luck Moves: Gust, Air Slash, Air Cutter, Quick Attack. Level 32 Meowstic. Ability: Prankster. Moves: Psybeam, Light Screen, Psyshock, Confusion. Level 33 Emolga. Ability: Static. Moves: Nuzzle, Shock Wave, Electro Ball, Acrobatics (no item held). Level 34 Marshtomp. Ability: Torrent. Moves: Tackle, Mud Bomb, Water Gun, Rock Slide. Level 33 Stoutland. Ability: Scrappy. Moves: Crunch, Work Up, Take Down, Thunder Fang. Just looking at the pokemon and abilities, the most obvious thing to notice is the complete lack of Grass. Honestly, so far I haven't seen much of a need for a grass-type (Though I do have a level 20 Budew), though that might change when I get to a water or ground-type gym. Another noticeable thing I noticed is that I have a grand total of one move that is strong against Dark, Ghost and Psychic Types: Reversal for the former, Crunch for the latter. All in all, though, I can't say I am dissapointed with my team. On the contrary, I'm quite happy with it, though I see a lot of room for improvement. Plus, I'm honestly thinking of swapping out my Unfezant, as awesome as it was so far. I just don't see a need for so much flying, especially when I have Acrobatics!Emolga. Not only that, but I feel like I'm missing out on a number of things and abilites that I should be using. Any opinions, insights and suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I won't necessarily listen to the lattermost, but in a game as subjective as Pokemon, well, you'll have to forgive me if I have my own opinions as well.
