Hey I was looking for cool looking pokemon fan games to play and this one really stood out. The previews look amazing and I was wondering if there is a release date for the game or if its already out? Since this game was going to be published some time ago
I've been working on this game in isolation, since I've been worrying about graduating college. I've graduated now, but I don't have all the time in the world to finish this game, since I also have a full-time career now. The manga has been published, but the game has not. So, if you want to read the manga, then just message me, otherwise it's gonna be a long time before this game sees the light of day.

Is there any other online method to pay and receive the manga other than using paypal ( Don't have good memories using it)
Hello,
Sorry it took me so long to respond, but the best way to get in touch with me for as far as sales go, contact me at: dylanrockin@gmail.com. That is my paypal information and the best way to get in contact with me.

I wanted to make a formal announcement. Due to my recent interests in revisting old, Japanese, Pokemon episodes I recently got a spark of motivation to work on my project again. Not until later this year, but, it will be done. I will be making a Discord server for my game, as I have recently grown out of my old attitude that kept me away from doing so. I believe that my fans and followers deserve to be kept on the up-and-up, so I will be creating one in the very near future.
I also will be working on several, new, animations for in-game cutscenes and they will be REALLY cool. After I clear up some debt that's been looming over my head, I will be getting back to it soon.
As for an explanation for my hiatus: depression, finances, and I wanted to get away from the whole internet cynicism that has poisoned my heart and mind. I wanted to step back, enjoy life a lot more than I was before, and excel in places that I was faulted in. In that time I've been gone: I have gone far with the new things I've learned. greatly I will be, in the future, making more regular updates, and will be active in my Discord server, and may even set up some form of donation system, since I know some people were willing to help me through this dark time of mine.
As you guys know I authored a manga and am working on an unrelated series to this one, alongside this game's development, and that still stands. I will be juggling several projects as I continue forward with my life. I said it before and will say it again: I don't quit and never abandon what is essentially my life's work. I had a setback and will return soon.
I appreciate every one of you who has followed me and kept up with my work thus-far. I truly do, from the bottom of my heart, and I wish to do my best to make you guys a game worth waiting for. I admit I am a perfectionist and fret about the details, which is why this game has taken so long. I want my vision to be realized as perfectly as possible.

I don't mean to demean you or your hard work in any way, but i don't think you can really sell them. Yk, the copyright issues.
Actually, I have and a lot of them in fact. The fact of the matter is, if you know anything about fan-manga's, is that they are sold all the time. Literally. Go on Ebay or any manga-artist's website and you'll find tons of fan works being sold. The caveat there is that they aren't being mass-produced, whereas these have been individually published and printed to be sold by me and me alone. No re-seller involved. Also, there isn't enough being sold to where Game Freak has given me a Cease and Desist.
And if you're curious, I sold well over 250, thanks to conventions and my University supporting my project.

Good news, everyone!
My manga has finally been published and have received, from my publisher, 50 copies to be sold, locally in Fremont, Nebraska. If there is anyone interested in ordering a copy who lives outside of the Fremont area, shipping prices will vary and will take a few days to arrive.
Very soon, ordering pages will open on Keikokup's website for more copies that are not in my current possession. In the coming months, we plan on having our publisher release quite a lot more, but not for the purpose of selling locally as I will be at many conventions, across America, over the coming months, and year, selling these and promoting my upcoming, second manga.
Anywho, per copy will be $14.99, and if there are people who want it that are not local to Fremont shipping will be factored on top of that. My paypal is dylanrockin@gmail.com and make sure you tell me your name and address in order to be shipping a copy. Also, shipping will also be factored in, after the 14.99 price.

SO, before I end up showering you all with news about my game I am going to gif ur faces with the Tower of Sal-- I mean Tower of Guidance stuff! Essentially, within the inner-sanctum of the Tower of Guidance there are 3 levels that you must traverse, each with their own Pokemon boss fight that you must face. And spoiler warning they're not easy fights, with the last fight being against Ashera/Rayquaza and then she joins your party! The reason why this took so damn long to make in response as an update to my game, is because... well, making the animated background was a metric pain in the ass and the Tower of Guidance is one of the most difficult areas in the game for me to make, bar... anything else I've done with my game.
Essentially the tower of Guidance's inner 3 sanctums was inspired by the Tower of Salvation's battle background, which you can see in my non-commentary playthrough of Tales of Symphonia:

It looks so good, hmm on the part of nuzlockes being impossible id say they technically could be possible just super hard cus you'd still have the main 6 pokemon so it'd be something like 6 chances 1 mon faints you'd still have the other 5 you'd just have to remember to not use the ones that died and if everyone died then rip in peperonis time to start over so yeh basically only God-Tier Nuzlockers would be able to succeed, if anyone successfully nuzlockes this games they instantly become god-tier nuzlockers 100%
No, nuzlocking is not possible.
1: Because I dislike them and think it would take away from why it is you're playing this game in the first place. So, personal bias there.
2: I feel the spirit of the game would be lost on people as they're too busy concentrating on trying to survive than trying to enjoy... you know... the game. And to make sure that happens, a specific character's "Main Pokemon" cannot be deposited or released as the game will outright stop you from doing so and every Pokemon after a double battle will be brought back with 1HP.
2 hours ago, TheTrueNight said:a little bummed i found this game nearly 3 years after its announced and its still not finished but i can see its had a lot of love and sweat poured into it so even though its upsetting i cant play it im anxious to see it finished all around the game looks amazing the maps you've made meld well and give the mysterious feel of "what's this places story", the characters all come off welcoming but also diverse and makes you wonder what secrets they all hide, as a fellow tales player (Tales of Vesperia as it was the only one available to xbox players) i love the skits idea and think it goes well into revealing connections and showing how the bonds develop as well as cover key story points and describe certain situations that might otherwise get lost on others its no wonder you have so many people eager to play your game and i hope one day you can accomplish the game you envision to bring towards your loving followers good luck on your future progress i cant wait to be one of the many who get to play this game
Glad you're still anticipating the release of the game, however, since school has started an auditions for the musical and play at my university have also begun I've been strapped for time on my game and mostly work on it, in the early mornings before classes start and before my night classes. Though I intend to get some progress done in the coming weeks.

Once again, here is another update for the manga with new pages coming out! Also, next month the manga will be finished for Volume 1 and ya'll can get your hands on it, hopefully early October!
Also, here is some physical violence, because I heard you guys were into that sort of thing, I guess. Actually that was my intent to begin with, having some characters getting the crap beaten out of them uwu

For some reason my previous post was deleted, but whatever. Anyways, as I am working on getting a new video posted for my game soon I wanted to show off another page of the manga as the first volume wraps to a close! More brutality and more cool stuffs! This is one of the sketches for the end of the battle with Vivian vs Aria.

So, for those of you who know me and how much I have the biggest obsession with Tales of Symphonia. WELL, look no further than the ultimate geek showing off something that most people who have played Tales of Symphonia will know as the hardest boss in the game, making a cameo appearance in the Devil's Arms sidequest in the game! This is not a post-game side-quest as you can do this as soon as you finish the Tower of Guidance. I will be posting a video of this as well, for those of you interested. For now though, enjoy some screenshots!
Also featured in the screenshots are custom battle backgrounds for this fight as well as the Tower of Guidance. It matches the tower's tile layout and I think looks damn-fine Also, yes, the circles that you see in the battle backgrounds are indeed CG objects converted to sprite form. Also, as an added bonus, just like the PS2 version and PS3 versions of Tales of Symphonia, if you play on Hard or Mania mode, Abyssion starts off the fight with Divine Judgement (Krista's Verdant Arte) and will do an incredible amount of damage. Also, it is unavoidable, since Abyssion also has Initiative, which allows him to attack as soon as the fight starts, before you get to input a move against him. That only happens if you play on Hard or Mania however. He does use everybody's Verdant Artes against you, just as he does in Tales of Symphonia as well as being able to use Overlimit on his own Pokemon.

I know this information is probably somewhere but I rather save time by simply asking here and wait for a good soul to tell me. The pokemon teams for each character, are they completly pre-defined or just some of the pokemons?
Essentially, every character, once they join your party START with a pre-defined team, and they have 1 Pokemon that cannot be removed from the team, no matter what. The other 5 Pokemon that comes with that specific character can be changed out for whatever though. Essentially, this is how every character starts out:
Vice = Eevee
Marissa = Umbreon, Shinx, Torchic
Vivian = Frogadier, Skarmory, Grovyle, Sneasle
Krista = Kirlia, Pancham, Skiddo, Nidoqueen
Hiro = Dialga, Samurott, Talonflame, Metagross, Zorua (cannot evolve, but has an impressive moveset), Tyrantrum
Allan = Lucario, Zoroark, Dragonite, Tyranitar, Frosslass, Arcanine.
Ashera = None, because she is a Pokemon and cannot use them and is only used for fast-travel purposes in the end-game.
The first Pokemon from left to right is the one you cannot remove, no matter what. It cannot be released, it cannot be put into the box and will always be a part of that character's team. They also cannot be put into the day-care. Every, other, Pokemon can be exchanged out for something else, however. But as Commander said, the teams that they are pre-defined with are considered their "canon" teams.

Here's a fun, little screenshot from one of the areas FAR later in the game, at the Volcano Island Base:
As a reference to Tales of Symphonia (sadly I cannot portray an actually awful drawing of their face in sprite form, because obvious sprite limitations are obvs.) you can investigate these posters and a picture (soon to be included, once I commission them) that is poorly drawn of their faces will be plastered all over the base. It serves NO purpose other than being funny and a little nod to Tales of Symphonia.

So, I added in an additional tier to the prize list. If you at least participated but didn't place in the top 5 and made something that at least met the criteria for judging then you will win $10 dollars. I implemented that, since there were a lot of super talented artists from the previous contests that I felt bad for, because I couldn't give them anything for the time they spent on the artwork. So this is not only a participation prize but its also a prize for those who showed that they followed the criteria and made something good that wasn't "placement" worthy.
tldr; I felt bad and wanted to make it up to anyone who participates in the contest but doesn't win any of the higher tier prizes.
For those of you who need a little bit more context for the art contest and some information on certain characters, you can feel free to go through my old skit videos and you can get a feel for it all.

Hey guys! Remember when I would make skit videos? Yeah, I don't either, but here are some, featuring Mia in them! This is the case, since Mia is a temporary character in the post-game:

GOOD NEWS.
We are down to the final stretch of the Verdant Tales manga and we only have... at least(?) one more month left of pages before we start selling them to peeps! So, in-case you guys weren't already super stoked for it, here be the storyboards for the final few pages:
Also, yes, I am not above showing physical violence between two trainers. Brutality there be in this manga.
Don't worry about the page count down there, because there is actually 3 times that many pages, since this is Chapter 3. That page count is just for me to keep track of the number of pages in Chapter 3.
-
UPDATE: So, I now have all the skit faces for Mia Vance finished, since she becomes a temporary party member in the post-game and has a good 20 or so skits with her in them. Here is a screenshot for one of the finished skit faces!
btw's Mia is worthy. I need ALL the Mia's. ALL OF THEM.
During my livestream today I finished up another one of the Celestial Island maps and here is one of them for ya! It called the Winding Forest and there are multiple paths you can take in this forest that will take you to different, named, locations of pivotal importance and one area that is especially hidden that is not in plain sight:

Man, I'm trying to stay mostly spoiler-free by not following this development too closely, but from what I have seen, damn am I hyped! (Regardless of when it will release)
Glad to hear that. This past year I've had a bad habit of pulling a Hunter x Hunter in terms of the amount of hiatuses I've had to go on, because of work + school. Rest assured though, even if I do end up going on an extended hiatus again I will never abandon my game, since I pooled so much time, money and effort into it.
-
For those of you wondering, the current, overall progress of the game so far is around 80% for the main story mode. As for additional content and post-game stuff that is going to be factored in at a later time, since that is all non-essential. However, for those of you curious who have been following my thread for awhile, I am holding a 2nd Drawn my OC's/Characters cotnest on the forums here. If any of you are interested you can find it in the the Developing Games thread and feel free to take a look-see!
Also, in regards to the manga, there only needs to be about 10 pages left before we can finally get it all finalized and shipped out. We intend on selling about 500 - 1000 copies for this year at my manga artist's online store, Ebay, Etsy, Pixiv and at certain conventions in these areas around the United States:
Omaha, Nebraska (which is where I live) - All conventions in that area I will be selling physical copies at the Verdant Tales: Symphonic Horizon panel every year.
New York, New York City - At Anime North and AnimeNext my manga artist will be selling copies of my manga there as well - I may or may not join her for the Verdant Tales: Symphonic Horizon panel or not, depending on time.
The conventions are mostly just gatherings to help promote the manga and to meet up with cool peeps. And I guess to advertise my game, I suppose. Not exactly proud of doing that, but that is, I guess, an option to go alongside it.
Also, for funzies, I felt like showing off the anime panels that we had for the 2nd anime animation we did for my game, here:
Also, here is some skit faces I am having worked on for Mia Vance, as she becomes a temporary party member in the post-game.

Are we drawing sprites? Or just the characters themselves?
In the bulleted list it says that you can draw in either style. But yes, you are drawing the characters, hence the Draw my Characters theme.

is there any background to these characters (specificly yours of course) I looked in the "character artworks" but dont really know these characters. I think that would help people a bit of how these characters should act. Some look happy some look serious but that could be happy=silly and serious could be= angry. Just a curiosity sorry for it if there is none. Love the character art.
There are, but they are all in my thread, here:
You can feel free to dig through it and search for certain characters in there. Unfortunately, my artist didn't want to copy their descriptions in fear of spoilers.
If you use the Reborn search functionality and just type in the character's name, it should come up with a search result in my thread on a specific page. Though, some of the later pages have a lot more of the recent character additions, in the last... 15 or so pages. At least for a lot of the later characters.

So, I was originally going to have another contest, awhile ago, but due to money related issues, I had to cancel it. BUT, due to me having 3 jobs coming up and my income situation will be changing, I thought "why not" let's have some fun this year! Also, on Reborn I did have a 2nd contest being held but had to ultimately cancel it due to... finances and other nonsense getting in the way *shakes fist* If you wish to see the results of the previous contest, you can view it on my Group's Page.
On October 20th, 2018 I will be hosting a "Draw my OC/Characters" contest on my deviantART Group Page, and the Reborn Forums, with PRIZES I mainly wanted to do this out of fun, really, and so that way I can get my readers and fans involved with the game. Also, so that way I can give out some interesting prizes, and whatnot to those who participated. Details on prizes and whatnot are below.
During mid-September I will receive a huge amount of money from my family and taxes. As for the contest itself - the contest is simple, basically you just draw the characters that are in the gallery, and it's judged based on: originality, completeness anatomy/skills, canonocity (i.e. is it close to their canon designs and descriptions?) and composition. So, you can draw them in their costumes or whatever, but it has to be those ones, specifically. Also, you can draw ANY of the characters from my game that are present in the gallery!Link to Group Page:
https://www.deviantart.com/symphonic-horizon
CASH PRUIZES! PRUIZES!
Unlike the previous contest, this time there are places for fourth and fifth, whereas there was just first - third place. So, now if you rank in 5th place you still get some form of moneys!
$250 for First Place and a cameo placement anywhere in the game, whether it be battle or whatever. (Or something of equal value, like dA points, etc)
$200 dollars for Second Place and a cameo placement (Or something of equal value, like dA points, etc)
$100 dollars for Third Place and a cameo placement. (Or something of equal value, like dA points, etc)$50 dollars for Fourth Place and a cameo placement. (Or something of equal value, like dA points, etc)
$25 dollars for Fifth Place and a cameo placement. (Or something of equal value, like dA points, etc)
Anything below will win $10 dollars, BUT, it has to be a competent entry and not just a "lol here's a picture of... whatever, and I get this for entering and 'trying'". So, basically, if you at least followed the guidelines above and tried your hardest, then you get $10 dollars for at least trying hard.
Rules
Has to be their designs and nothing that you would attribute to them. So, basically, they have to look like how they normally do.
Putting them in costumes is allowed, but it has to be the themed costumes that are currently in the game, i.e. Tales Costumes, Beach Costumes, Halloween, Christmas, and various other costumes that they wear in the game.
Only 1 submission is allowed.
You can have as many characters in the artwork as you want, so it doesn't have to be just 1 character in the scene.
You are free to use any style you wish. You can even do pixel art if you really want to. That'd be... pretty unique and awesome to see actually.
You can give them things in their hands like Poke Balls, or whatever. Even swords for shits and giggles XD
No gore, blood or anything really profound and disgusting.
Don't have another person create the art for you. I want YOU to make the art and not someone make it for you.
Have fun with it~!
How to enter:
Just leave a comment down below and I'll add you to the roster of people entered.
After commenting, and when the start date arrives, you can feel free to edit your original post, or comment again with your artwork included.
If you don't wish to have other people view your work, you are free to message me, and I, myself, and the other judges will look at it from there. There is more than enough time to register, since I am allowing for there to be 5 places for prizes, so feel free to use this time wisely to consider your decision to register.
Start date and Deadline:
Start date is October 20th, 2018
Deadline is November 20th, so you have plenty of time to do your work.
Final Judging time is November 25th
A link to the characters available for this particular contest can be found on my deviantART's Group's page, where they are stored as reference. You can view any and all artwork of my characters, to use as reference, in-case you all don't want to sift through my forum post, about my game to find the artwork. -
Soooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo... about that last update. Here is the long, almost forgotten Valentine's Day video I had planned to make back in February. This is a post-game side-quest that you can do after you defeat Falset at Destiny Outlook and Ferona-Nirvana. Essentially, this side-quest involves finding Mia at certain locations in order to have her join as a temporary party member. There is also some nice, shippy trash, for those, like me, who are total SAPS and enjoy that stuff XD
But, yeh, this was supposed to be a video I was going to plan on posting on Valentine's Day, but... yeh, this be it. It's homely, it's good, sisterly-fun with endearing interactions and some nice moments. Also, even though Vaan is no longer part of Vice anymore you can still access Verdant Trasnformation, which is explained in a skit after this video ended. Which... I may show at a later date. But, I will also show off Mia as an optional, temporary character you can play as at a later date as well. She is only available in certain fights however.
Also, here's a gif from late in the game!

Verdant Tales: Symphonic Horizon
in Fan-game Exposé

IMPORTANT UPDATE!!
So, for the first, actual, update since 201-something(?), I have for you all, a new character. Her name is Colette Bernatitus. She plays a strong role, in the new, revised story of my game and is one of the past Children's of Aether - essentially what Krista Harper is currently. During the latter half of the game, she is granted permission to visit Earth for 24 hours and during that time she is to bring Krista into full-realization of her powers. After which, Krista is no longer playable and fulfils her duties as a Child of Aether and then spoiler things happen. As you do. Not featured in this art is her halo, because I forgot. Oops. She's dead, no big deal.
So, I'm sure you're wondering: why don't you talk more about your redone story? Well, basically, because it would take forever in a year to discuss all the changes. First off: the code. It was awful and I re-wrote ALL the scripting in the game to make it smoother and easier to use. Not only that, but I got rid of all the crappy tropes and cliches that plagued this game and made it more original and it now oozes its own style in writing. Same goes for how conversations would go on for an eternity and never end. Literally, some cutscenes would go on for 30 minutes, 30 MINUTES! Everything was changed and for the better and the same goes for both Vice and Marissa's designs. When I was 14 and made those characters, by the way Vice and Marissa are 10-YEARS OLD NOW (jesus, I made those characters 10-years ago... I am really getting old...), I hate their designs and want to do away with them. So I did. Vice and Marissa look very much the same with regards to their face, figure, height and chronological ages of 18 and 16 respectively. Their clothes and attire were the things I wanted to change the most, because they are so bland and default that I just cannot stand their simple designs. That new artwork will be revealed in a month or two-ish. I'm adult now and have to adult things; I can't always spend money on my game whenever I feel like it anymore, sue me. As for everyone else, I love their initial designs and I want to announce the next Draw my Characters contest. Speaking of:
The next Draw my Characters contest will be hosted at the end of October for Halloween and there will be 5 places for prizes. There will be prize money involved and I implore any and all artists to take a stab at it, since the amount of money I'm giving away for the contest is ludicrous. I work for the Department of Defense, so I can afford to have some fun, LET ME HAVE THIS DAMNIT! However, the contest will not begin judging until a minimum of 10 people have put themselves into the contest.
As a personal update: I've become a botanist in me free time and go to church now. I realized that my personality a couple years ago did not lend itself very much to someone you would call... likeable? So, I dedicated these past couple years to bettering myself, as a person, while also making myself more well-rounded skill-wise. Currently, I also play the Piano and spent two-years studying music. These two hobbies of mine have made me into a much more peaceful person and has made me completely different than how I used to be, mostly because I've taken a more humble approach to myself in the way of learning new skills that I never understood or cared to learn about. It's also allowed me to use these hobbies as a destresser and for the better really. I'm also working on my Master's in Cyber Security and have become a Certified Ethical Hacker working for the Department of Defense. Big life changes for me and I'm no longer going to make any excuses for my absence from game development. I dream quite often about my game and all the people that I've let down. I feel that it's time to get back to work.
Also, follow me on Twitter. Or don't - I'm not your dad.
