  1. In the Pokemon Center, it's possible to walk through the black space and stand next to the Pokemart clerk behind the stand. Also when you try to go upstairs, you just walk past the stairs and into the black space.

    Found that, thanks!

While playing, this is the only missing event I've noticed so far. http://prntscr.com/84q5a2

I would suggest that the event that happens right after the screenshot have a longer wait between the ! and ?

Not sure if this has been mentioned in the post(s) above, but there is no running sprite appearing for the male, left character.

While moving away from NPC's (The young boy with the Rattata for example) will stay in place but will glitch out of place by say 6 pixels while walking away. Shown trashcan can be walked through. http://prntscr.com/84q8ky (Sorry for being so nickpicky, just really want this to be even more if an amazing game! P.S. Animated sprites work fine for me.

    All right, found the issues.

So, you can't run at all? Is this an issue with anyone else?

Also, I'll try to replicate the NPC problem you mentioned.

You're totally not being nitpicky, this helps a TON. Thanks! :)

  2. All right, here's the alpha!

    https://www.dropbox.com/s/eh6rwy0j4exfp1f/Pok%C3%A9mon%20Scribe.rar?dl=0

I have no idea how it will work for yall because I've purely tested this in debug mode. I don't think there should be any issues running it. Feel free to post any impressions and comments here on this thread, but if you come across any issues or bugs I'd prefer them over PM. :)

So far, there are a few things wrong with/missing from the beta that I know of. I'll go ahead and add them here for reference.

*Following Pokemon disappears when you blackout

*Following Pokemon does not disappear while healing

*Graphical glitches on a few tiles

    *weird transitions

*Missing encounter music for various trainers

*VS Battle Sprites for Skye battle not working yet

*No Pokegear, no Xtransceiver at beginning (there should be)

The alpha ends at the end of the 1st route. There's no announcement of it, but you'll know when you're out of stuff to do.

Aaand I think that's it. Please notify me of any spelling errors, glitches, crashes, etc. I'd also like some impressions of the game thus far. Also, let me know how the animated sprites work on your computers. Thanks!

  3. This looks great!

I normally try to avoid fangames that haven't been around very long, but I think I'll give this a go when Ep1 comes out.

Thanks! I hope you will enjoy it!

    ----

Firstly, we now have a Pokecommunity thread! http://www.pokecommunity.com/showthread.php?t=353549

I decided I'm going to publicly release the alpha tomorrow since there have been issues with the site and many users have been missing. Anyone can download it, but beware that it is still VERY short and is missing a few key features I want to add.

More on this tomorrow though. Thanks to everyone for your patience! :)

  4. Wow, this definitely looks very polished! Maybe it's silly to say this because of only aesthetic appeal but your game definitely outshines the others around here, including Reborn and Rejuvenation which I am currently playing. Are you perhaps hoping to go into game design some day?

Thanks very much, I appreciate the compliment! :)

Game design is certainly a passion of mine! It's not necessarily something I plan on doing. If anything, I'd prefer writing and concept art for video games over coding and implementation.

  5. The other day I mentioned in a different thread how I wished to see a different kind of pokemon game, one that breaks away from the mold and tries to do things a little differently. Well lo and behold, I think I found it! Based on the screenshots and features, this game shows a lot of potential and hits all the right spots - the graphics are amazing, pokemon follow you and the story focus on something more than just gyms and Leagues. I'm bookmarking this game so I can keep track of its progress. Keep up the good work! :D

Very kind of you! I hope my game can meet your expectations!

    ----

General update for everyone, I'm finishing events and debugging maps. Looks like everything is on track for alpha testing on Friday!

Now, this alpha is very short and will probably only take a good hour to complete fully (I haven't yet played through myself so idk), so I'll just be randomly selecting 5 people who volunteered to take part. The beta will definitely be the entirety of the first episode, and then it's all hands on deck. :)

  6. Flying types. While it can be good in combination with other types there aren't that many strong flying type attacks. There's Fly, air cutter/slash, and drill peck. I know there's more but what are they useful for? Flying types are good early on when you're fighting grass or bug types. Further on their attacks don't do enough. That's why I don't like flying types that much.

I beat the entire Sinnoh League with nothing but the Starly line, so I will have to disagree with this. :P

My least favorite to use is Normal... boring. I love the Pokemon themselves, and my favorite Pokemon of all time (Spoink) is normal, but aside from that, I don't really like battling with them.

  7. This looks so awesome, 5th gen are beautiful ash. Good luck on this, id love to play it!

Thanks, I hope you will enjoy it!

Woohoo! Good job on the menu fix. I'm glad you got it working.

I spoke with the creator of the script and they found the issue. :)

I'm super late on this, but those screenshots look pretty hype. I haven't heard of one fangame that has made Pokemon able to follow you around. Is that the first city you're walking around in? It kind of looks like Aspertia City from B2/W2.

Ahhh, thank you! Yes, that's the starting town. It has a similar feel to Aspertia, I know what you mean.

  8. As long as I can get a Vulpix early, I'll be content. Eevee would be pushing it a bit, so just Vulpix.

Well, you'll definitely get Vulpix early on,

though you might end up finding it difficult to do.

Eevee probably won't be available until episode three or so.

    EDIT: Oh, and GOOD NEWS!

The menu script is now fully working! :D With that out of the way, the scripts are all just about done~

  9. I feel generous, so I'll share a little insider information about the first wild Pokemon you'll encounter:

Route 1 is occupied by nothing but level 100 Gothitelles that always have the ability Shadow Tag; their only known moves are Recycle and Rest. Also, everything on Route 1 has a 100% chance of holding a Leppa Berry.

Pff, talk about a difficulty spike. :D

  10. Automatically seeing Vulpix made this game 1000% better! *runs*

But I am really excited the more I see progress made with this game! These graphics are really beautiful too.

    Thank you!

I love Vulpix as well! They'll be available pretty early in the game via special event.

This brings up a general question for everyone. Which Pokemon are you hoping to see in Episode 1? I'm still working on the list of obtainable Pokemon, and it's kinda hard to figure out a balance between suitable Pokemon for a certain skill level and Pokemon that people want to see. Add to that the fact that the options span five (possibly six) generations and I'm freaking out a little. :P

  11. You can easily look up any of this info to get help with it. Items are added via the external editor, field effects can be created in the pokemon move script, for gen 6 you need to download the gen 6 project or look up the sprites if you want them in 2d to add them manually and edit the pokemon.txt. Gifs aren't compatible with RMXP so you use GIF to PNG to turn it into a png image for use in game.

Read through the Essentials wiki articles carefully and you'll get tutorials and scripts for everything. It's a learning process, you need to do the research yourself to understand it. If you can't even understand basic scripting and eventing, game-making might not be for you. But do read through everything, it will start to make sense with time.

If you can't sprite, use the base sprites or ask someone for help with spriting. But you'll need to learn basic recoloring on your own if you want to make a game. :)

  12. This is really something i like. I'm already exicted of playing the game.

Hope you can make the game really unique with both story, character personality and many things.

    Thanks! I'll do my best!

Believe me, there are big plans for the story...

    Yes...

A side note I forgot to mention, the graphical glitches you see in the gifs aren't from the game itself but the capture software I use messing with the gif quality. None of that shows up in game!

  13. Reborn's tiles are of a different generation, anyway, and I doubt Ame would just remake every map to use these tiles. I do prefer Gen 5 tiles, but they're harder to find, and my spriting abilities are terribad, so I probably won't be able to make my own....

Glad to see so much progress, Sunbean~

Yes, the older tiles have a huge amount of work done with them so there's a lot of variation with them. Gen 5 is severely lacking, but we're all working to have more out there for everyone. :)

Also a good compromise are DP and HGSS tilesets. You can find plenty to work with on those. If you ever need help with anything let me know, my offer still stands, I'm always up for spriting. ^^

but the walking animation and the bushes and the menu...so beautiful

    Thank you! Comments like these make me really happy. ;w;

  14. On the one hand I want to say, "This looks so awesome!", but on the other hand I feel like that might be a little arrogant.

So... even WITHOUT the stuff I helped with, this looks really, really cool. ^_^

Of course! I forgot to mention the wonderful outdoor maps you see in the screens were made by Anvilicious! I'll add you to the credits. :)

Ame you need to watch and learn from this person. them graphics tho

Pish posh, Reborn's graphics are just as good if not better!
