  1. I'll just copy-pasta what I put into Desolation's own thread of what I could be. In this case, I'll change the mons if you want me to show the difference between the two trainers.

    "If there is a Slacker/Lazy Trainer Sprite I'm all for it, but I guess I'll go for Ace Trainer (can be mid-late game. Also, I could help out the player by giving useful tips if they beat me throughout the game as my own team progresses)

    Ace Trainer/ Simon

    Mudkip -> Swampert

    Aron -> Aggron

    Ralts->Gardevoir

    Intro/Spotted: Hey! Beat me and I'll give you a helpful hint!

    Defeat: Oh, well. Guess I'll give you the hint."

    Awesome, thanks!

    Side note, if any alpha testers want to show off their team so far, that would be cool. There's ONE Pokemon in particular I seem to not be able to find on my playthrough... c:

  2. This was so enlightening to read. It's tough to remember sometimes the problems (for lack of a better word) someone might have when you interact with them, and it's really easy to get frustrated with people whose behavior you don't understand. And vice versa as well, it must be frustrating to not be able to communicate with others effectively not be able to or even be afraid of explaining why.

    As for me, I don't have any mental disorders. I've grown up with osteoperosis, which basically is a condition where your bones are extremely brittle and easy to fracture. It's more common in elderly folk and extremely rare to develop in childhood but here I am. It's not really something easy to describe, but the easiest way to share my expirience... almost 40 fractures, big and microscopic, since I was diagnosed at 9. I can't do too much excercise, or stand for too long. It used to be really bad as a kid, which was when I had most of my fractures occur just from playing with my friends. No treatment for it, just have to stay really healthy and hope my bones develop well when I get older. And they mostly have! It's been almost three years since last had a major accident, though from time to time I have some pain I suspect might be a tiny fracture, I've reached a point where I can take painkillers, slow down, and just let the bone heal itself. It's expected I shouldn't have issues going into adulthood but I'm very likely to have severe problems as an elder.

    Most people expect I'm afraid of hurting myself, and I was at first. It is something you do get used to, especially when you get so accustomed to pain on a daily basis. I learned with time what do do, what not to do, and how to learn to treat problems on my own. I just think of it as a minor inconvinience at this point, tbh. I will say though, I sometimes reach these lows where I feel so brittle and weak I can't even bring myself to get out of bed or talk to people. I think those moments are the worst of my condition, much worse than the actual injuries I go through, the points where I'm scared to get those injuries.

    One positive is that I have plenty of funny injury stories to share. My favorite was when I was in the fourth grade. There's this hill we had to go down through to in my elementary school to get down to the softball field. I don't get to do anything, just watch, and I felt really lousy about it that day. To make up for it, I decided to race with everyone else down the hill every day. Wasn't an issue at first, but one day I tripped on the way down and was literally front-flipping down the hill screaming. And everyond laughed at me because they THOUGHT I was doing it on purpose. I ended up breaking my forearm and wrist and was never allowed on that hill again, but damn was it hilarious looking back.

    And well, that's my exprience. I feel kinda silly writing all of this, lol!

  3. I'm recruiting people with knowledge of spriting, mapping, scripting, etc. once again! If anyone would like to contribute, let me know! I'm also willing to commission anyone with knowledge of animating Pokemon sprites to create some fakemon concepts I have planned.

    Also, I see some people have started accepting user-made trainers, and I thought I would jump on board with this as well. to an extent. If anyone wants to create a high-level trainer (anything but gym leaders, sorry) or just an original character to be featured in the story, let me know. :)

  4. Of all the interesting and detailed characters, you had to pick the one of the worst (as far as looks go) to showcase each gen... Gen 3 doesn't look bad but its extremely over-used at this point and I'm getting a weeee bit tired of it. I assume its also the easiest one to work with, which is why many developers prefer it over the newer generations. And lag problems be damned! Either fan-made authors need to optimize their games or people need to upgrade their toasters. Seriously... a PC lagging to a pokemon game... I would be embarrassed.

    There shouldn't be any lag issues as long as the animated Pokemon aren't in .gif format. It's really easy to set up .png images as animations and even my toaster computer handles it well. :)

  5. Cartoons were ruined with the introduction of Teen Titans Go! I used to love watching the original show, but then they turned it into more of a humor-centered show than one with the plot of the original- there were multiple plots to follow then: Robin & Slade, Raven & her father, Terra, the other teams (Titans North, East, South), and the ongoing war against The Brotherhood of Evil. Maybe it didn't fit under the title of "cartoon", but it was one hell of a show that had great comedy, even without that being the primary focus.

    I watched Teen Titans Go! and honestly, it wasn't bad. It was pretty funny. I was kind of disappointed it wasn't like the old show, but honestly the old one didn't need to be continued. I liked how it ended so I wasn't hoping for anything in particular.

    Cartoons died for me after the first Spongebob Movie. Though, I guess when we start to grow up things just aren't as good.

  6. I was into Saturday Morning cartoons as well, though usually I liked to stay up and watch Toonami back then even more. :P

    I find it hard to believe kids these days don't like to watch their cartoons on TV anymore. I'm really into Netflix and the like, but I enjoy sitting down to watch a show live on television a lot more.

  7. I prefer Gen 4, it looks more like a traditional Pokemon game while looking better than Gen 3, which in my opinion is way outdated and overdone in games. The best variety is available for it, as well. Plus, overworlds in Gen 5 are kinda tough to use.

    Edit: oh, and the 6th gen pokemon look REALLY strange in 3d, I think it's out of place to use them in a game that mostly uses pixel art.

  8. I went to play the demo, and the link doesn't work. Will there be a new link for the future?

    Like Anvilicious said, it's just an alpha build, and am sending them privately. It will be some time until the first episode is out, so hold tight! :)

  9. Most enjoyable overall for me was Platinum, with the added fact that my family was extremely into Pokemon at that time and it was great playing with them. (Story and feature wise it's the Gen 5 games, hands down)

    But I think my favorite if you include the spinoff games is the second Pokemon Ranger. There's just something about Rangers that was awesome, I kinda like them more than Trainers.

  10. i buy and sell from eBay regularly, and it's really not as unsafe as you might think. Just make sure to check reputation points and that the seller has a few sells, or even better buy from starred sellers. Ask about the condition, more photos, etc. And if anything is off, make sure you buy with an account so you can report the seller for a full refund or return. But you shouldn't have this issue.

    Overall, I like eBay better than Amazon because it's a lot easier to contact the seller for more info. Plus unless it's an Amazon-certified seller I don't trust it.

    And yeah, if you're going to buy a 2DS, buy it new, it's dirt cheap. The New 3DS isn't a bad price but I wouldn't buy it used, and you can buy refurbished 3DS from Nintendo's website (I think - not sure if this is still going on).

  11. Okay, every bug mentioned here and via PM has been solved. I don't know if it's necessary to publicly post the link again, but if anyone wants to check it out and find anything else, just let me know and I can send you a link. I hope, all things going well, the first version will be out in September and it will more or less be a few solid hours of gameplay.

    Aside from that, thanks to everyone for their help, it's been amazing. :)

  12. Since Pokemon Scribe doesn't rely on gym battles until the second half of the story, maybe you need to create a placeholder item that works the same way as a badge, otherwise the game will cap them because of the lack of progression. This exists to prevent players from over-grinding and steam-rolling over content that is supposed to be difficult, i.e gym leaders. :)

    Yes, the game already set to "give" gym badges once you finish important battles.

  13. Not sure if this is the case here but... in Pokemon Insurgence battles that only give you 1xp usually means you've hit the "level cap" and need to advance further in the story (acquire badges, complete missions, etc) to increase the cap again. Its a way to prevent players from over-grinding their Pokemon and steam-roll over the gym leaders.

    No, this is early in the game, not a level issue. It's a great feature though.

    Regardless, the 1 exp issue is fixed! I tested it a few times and it looks fine. :)

    Aww, the link doesn't work anymore. Oh well, can wait when the bugs is fixed

    My dropbox was getting too much traffic on my other links so I had to clear out my folders. :P I will reupload it to Drive once I finish the second alpha.

  14. Working on all of the bugs, thanks so much for pointing them out, it's a HUGE help, considering I've only been debugging the past week. Honestly I'm glad the alpha is at least somewhat playable :P

    I'll put out a second alpha with all of the fixes later this weekend, hopefully.

  15. I'm not sure if you saw the edit to my post (it seems you like were typing as I edited, judging by the times) but I can't exit the place where you work at.

    If you click the space bar while standing on the rug to exit, you can get out. Sorry, error with the eventing. Let me know how this works.
