  1. Spoiler

I actually wanted to write a similar topic on my own but when I wrote it it felt like mindless rant so I didn't. But since the topic is here anyway let me add my thoughs.

For me Hardy was not easy at all (eeveelutions only + no potions/revives).

However he most certainly was the most disappointing gym leader of all time.

In all my tries I never saw him use anything but Rock Slide. Not even once. Combined with his fast mons and flinch it's certainly powerful strategy but waaaay too simple for a Reborn leader. I always expect an epic battle in Reborn Gym and sadly Hardy completely and utterly failed.

I won't write any suggestions here since I'm no rock-type expert and other people already shared some good tips.

I don't necessarily care if he is easier than other leaders because it's late game and his type is weak (hello Adrienn) but he should at least do something else than spamming one move all the time.

(The part below is pure rant. Feel free to skip it.)

To top it all he talks about being higher ranked than Titania. That honestly doesn't make any sense whatsoever. Not only he is much weaker than her but his strategy is something a kid would use. It's unbefitting of a gym leader, let alone a high-ranking Reborn one. Ame should have fired him on the spot a long time ago.

Honestly I feel like throwing the badge back in his face as a sign of total disrespect and challenging who-ever-is-the-rock-leader-reserve instead.

  2. Onyx Garden has Pichu event pre-restoration but no Pichu/Pikachu wild. It would make sense for Pikachu to be there after restoration but if the Pokedex is showing Pikachu there before you went to Agate then that's a bug imo.

  3. Does anyone know which path is considered "better"? As in what the player should do? I only played the Reshiram path so far because I was lazy to go heal before battling Taka in WTC so I'm not exactly sure what is changed.

  4. Spoiler

Make sure that Jolteon knows Charge Beam. I barely won this battle in Beta but what allowed me to win was buffed Jolteon with Discharge sweeping through the last 5 opposing mons all alone simply by outspeeding and one shoting them. The field bonus is a huge advantage for Jolteon.

Note: My Jolteon has Timid nature and is EV trained for speed and special attack and has pretty decent IVs. I'm not sure if yours with Modest nature is fast enough to do the same.

Btw. focusing on one side doesn't quite work here in my opinion since the opponents have 12 mons in total. I focused on speed and area attacks instead.

  5. For me Samson and Aya were both pushovers in every single playthough. Kiki and Corey always were much more difficult.

The reason why Kiki is much worse is that she has good defenses against both Psychic and Flying types. Samson can be beaten easily by just one decent psychic mon (such as Espeon).

So yeah, definitely original leaders are better. The reserves are just newbies without experience.

  6. You can also take advantage of the field instead of destroying it. The field makes her very vulnerable to some threats like Magneton with Mirror Shot. When I tried it against her the Magneton was able to take out 5 out of her 6 pokemon. Then her Froslass singlehandedly decimated my entire team. :-D

No need to ragequit. This game is supposed to be challenging. All the leaders have some trick up their sleeves. You need to do your reasearch about how the trick works (using field notes and bulbapedia) and how to counter it. That's what the challenge is about. If a leader seems too lucky with crit, flinch, confusion or whatever it usually means they have some buff you're not aware of - item, field effect, ability or some combination of these. Everything has a reason.

That's actually really disappointing, Gardevoir is my favourite pokemon. But oh well, I got a Gible in a wonder trade so I'll try not to be too salty lol

Well if you really want her I'm sure you can find someone willing to give you a Ralts...

  8. If I remember correctly he is still there, but only in the new Reborn city. Gardevoir was way too powerful for early-game (you always using it just confirms it) so she got the much deserved axe. Now you can try some different psychic and fairy types!

  9. It's currently in Beta so community release should be available soon-ish. As one of the alpha testers my personal guess is december for community release and around christmas for stable release. The question is, which year.

Also by asking you just pushed a release date further.

Hmm... well, I remember it being post Beryl Pulse Tangrowth, but suddenly, you're making me doubt myself...

I checked in RMXP. Gothitelle only appears if the flag "Third Gym Done" is set. And this flag is switched on only after Corey is beaten.

Too bad. I feel like using Gothorita against Corey would be the only reason I'd ever try training her. Getting her just after Corey is pointless.

First of all, did you evolve your torchic or are you just saying you had torchic as your starter and it's actually a combusken? Also, I guess you should try to get a psychic type or a ground type (Although I don't think you actually have access to many ground types yet). I'm no pro, but I suggest getting that espurr in Peridot Ward or, on a rainy day, I think you can get a numel (also in Peridot Ward), but I'm not sure. Now that I think about it, you can catch a bunnelby just outside the gym and get a gothita for going back to the library and doing a sidequest.

Isn't Gothita only available after Corey? I wanted to use it against him once in the past but the sidequest was not available until after I defeated him... It might have been changed in some later episode though.

  12. From what I know alpha should be pretty much done by now, Ame already fixed most of the reported bugs so Beta might begin soon-ish? However she is now well aware that a week for each phase was too optimistic. There is simply too many new things in E17 for that. And trust me, you don't want to play against the current AI. Waiting for a more stable release is well worth it.

My personal estimate is for E17 to be released around christmas with the community release a bit sooner than that.

Also by asking this you just delayed the release again. But on the bright side it means we have more time for testing.

RIP Greninja. I always disliked it anyway.
