      I think that the main series need a rival that actually crushes the hopes and dreams out of the MC. That way, people will take the rivals seriously again.

      keep in mind that the people playing are often very young children

      its kind of a bad idea to crush the hopes and dreams of the MC as they are mostly in alignment with the young child
