  1. Going to close applications now, I've got a lot more people than I thought would actually be interested, and already accepted more people than I originally thought I would. Thanks for all of the effort you put into your apps (or may not have). Anyone can spectate on the server if they want, and applications may re-open in the future. Naturally, you'll get a quicker heads-up if you stay on the Discord, but hey that's just me.
  2. There are only two slots available left on the server for characters.
  3. Editing this into the initial post, but the Discord Server for Dark White is now live and anyone is free to join. If you want information regarding lore pertaining to certain regions of characters Kanto-Sinnoh is available now on the server. And of course, any other questions can be addressed to me https://discord.gg/U6afJ9r
  4. Three big things, firstly Virbank wouldn't technically have a gym when he grew up. From what we know from BW/B2W2, Roxie wasn't part of the eight gyms for the pokemon league. The gym probably existed, but not in the traditional manner that you think. Second, I think this was a mistake, but Volkner is the leader of Sunnyshore. Many of the gym leaders from different regions will be playing roles in this story, and without spoiling much Volkner will at the very least be present in Snowpoint City during the introduction. (Snowpoint is where the Uprising HQ is for the moment.) I think this might have been a mistake on your part, but worth fixing. That said, Chris would have probably traveled with Volkner to Snowpoint after Team Plasma started moving in on Sinnoh. Last, most pokemon should be around level 35 - 40 for this RP(my bad I should have mentioned that), so unless you want to be a special case you may want to bump up to a Luxray. I'll re-evaluate when you fix those things, other than that not bad.
  5. Pokemon: Dark White Going to preface this with a bit of context. This will be a serious RP that will require some commitment. If you can’t keep up, please don’t join. Anyone is more than welcome to spectate and/or contribute in their own way if they can’t or do not wish to roleplay. I will be running this through a discord server for the sake of organization which will include posts and free-RP for the actual story itself. Our story will be taking place in an alternate timeline where the player character fails at the end of the main story of Pokemon White. Ghetsis’s plans have come to fruition, and he is on the verge of controlling the whole world. Now without further ado… * * * * * The Unova region has fallen under the control of Team Plasma, led by Ghetsis in the absence of N who supposedly left on a soul-searching journey after defeating the Champion. The world was shocked when suddenly the Pokemon storage system… Was empty… Most people’s Pokemon were gone within a day, released into the wilds regardless of their trainers, or their own desires. Neighboring regions soon felt the crush of Team Plasma’s grip, and are slowly being pressured into submission. The Kanto and Johto regions were Ghetsis’s first targets once he had all but conquered the Unova region. The two region’s trainers put up a lot of resistance but were eventually quelled. The Sinnoh region has mostly been ‘conquered,’ but the local resistance under the command of Cynthia has locked down Mt. Coronet and are using Snowpoint city as a shipping hub. The Hoenn, Kalos, and Alola regions have been largely untouched, but there have been recent reports of Team Plasma in both regions… Nobody has seen or heard from King N, the hero who captured the legendary Pokemon Reshiram and defeated the Unova league. It is said that a trainer fought against N with the legendary Pokemon Zekrom at her side but was defeated. Strangely, neither of the two trainers have been seen or heard from in the past eight months in the wake of Team Plasma’s carefully staged uprising. You are a trainer who has managed to hold on to their partner Pokemon in the wake of Plasma’s worldwide hack of the Pokemon storage system and decided to join the uprising against Team Plasma. Most trainers strong enough to keep their own Pokemon are convening in Snowpoint city to organize an uprising against Ghetsis and his seven sages. Will you join them? News Broadcast: “Good afternoon, this is Ghetsis acting steward of Team Plasma in King N’s absence… Now I must say that I am very pleased with the majority of your compliance with N’s decree that all Pokemon not under Team Plasma’s temporary jurisdiction be released. This is imperative if we are to ever reach the bright future that we all strive to see… but…” Ghetsis said, his eyes drifting away from the camera as he seemed to take a more somber tone. “There are those among you who greedily hold on to Pokemon and treat them like slaves under the guise that they are your partners.” Ghetsis sneered, a sliver of rage backing his words. But he straightened, and took a more diplomatic tone. “I’m afraid that your days with your precious Pokemon are numbered. Pokemon will never feel complete… They will never be complete with human intervention… And if you’re still foolish enough to believe that forcing Pokemon to fight with each other and do your bidding is humane? Know this!” He said, leaning forward and looking directly into the camera. “The selfless ranks of Team Plasma are coming for you, all of you! You can only run from us for so long, soon the entire world will know true peace, and nothing will stand in our way!” Rules and things of note: 1. First and foremost all of Reborn's rules will apply here and on the Pokemon Dark White server. No exceptions 2. This is a serious roleplay, and I expect everyone who applies to put some intelligent thought into their character or characters. If you come to me with a flimsy paragraph backstory, unless it is some George R.R. Martin level writing, do not be surprised if I decline your character application A. That being said, you are more than welcome to build on a declined application and come back with a stronger one. B. I feel the need to say this specifically, but if you are planning on writing an edgelord… Unless you’re a very good writer please steer away from this. This is Pokemon, which has its fair share of edgy characters (some better than others) but most trainers are good people. There is nothing wrong with having a little edge to your character, these are dark times after all, but please do not overdo it. C. If I feel your character is a Mary Sue (too perfect) I will smite thy application indiscriminately. D. If a character becomes too perfect, I may have the main story chuck a brick at their face to make them… more human. What I mean by that is that if your character ends up being too perfect they may be forced into an impossible situation, and I do believe in no-win scenarios. In life, it is possible to do everything right and still fail. The same will be true in Dark White. 3. This is primarily a free-form RP focusing on characters and storytelling, but each character should (unless you want to be a special case) have a partner Pokemon, and will be expected to battle at some point. Throughout the story, your character and their Pokemon will grow. But Pokemon will be treated fairly if you fight a level 70 Blastoise with your level 36 Charizard… Don’t be surprised if you lose. A. You will be expected to choose your Pokemon’s moveset, which can and likely will change. B. Your Pokemon is only allowed to have one move that can only be learned by TM. C. I will give your Pokemon it’s level and stats so that it scales appropriately with everyone else. No legendaries obviously, pseudo-legends are allowed but they will probably be a lower level than most others so that their stat totals roughly match. 4. If for whatever reason you’re unable to post for a notable period of time I will likely contact you personally regarding what you want to do with your character in the main story. I will never do anything unfair to players that are unable to post themselves, but if you simply do not respond for an unreasonable amount of time I will probably ‘bench’ your character for the time being. 5. I’m going to say that this RP is “16+” rated. Moderate language is allowed, semi-mature themes, some sexual themes (keep it moderate. I will smite your character if I deem them too ‘promiscuous.’ Please keep that in mind), moderate violence will be expected, and crude humor, of course, is encouraged. Character Application Template: Name: Alias (optional): Age: Gender: Birthplace: Former Residence: Orientation: Prior Occupation: Marital Status: Reason For Joining: (Why your character decided to join the Uprising. Could be to fight Plasma, could only be for safety in numbers. Up to you) Partner Pokemon: (Should be around level 35-40) Moveset: Physical Description: Personality: (Should at the very least be one paragraph) Biography: (Here’s where you put your non-edgy and non-perfect backstory) Side note: I’ve probably never talked with most of you, but I used to be involved in a few RPs back in the day (all of which died rather undramatically) but since then I’ve been in a lot of roleplays that involved a lot of time and character building (which also died undramatically). Recently when playing through White, I was thinking back to some of those old role plays and I thought what if I lost this fight? What if Ghetsis’s plan worked? I was infatuated with the idea and felt the need to put it to paper, and well… here we are. That’s more or less what I wanted to say. Don’t be afraid to reach out to me if you have any questions, ideas, or concerns for the good of the order. If you want a quicker response, my discord is M Cowher#6638. The Discord server for this is now live, anyone is free to join to help build their character, spectate, or just chat. https://discord.gg/U6afJ9r Thanks, Cowher
  6. Damon Cindy locked eyes with Damon. She looked like a scared animal, Damon realized for the first time that her lumen was actually pulling her. It was a rather strange sight when he actually thought of it. The phantom limbs pulling Cindy and Marius simultaneously. 'There is probably a lot I don't know about this girl's powers.' There was no immediate danger so Damon no longer felt that he needed his sword out, so he sheathed it. He then tried to rouse the terrified girl to her senses. "Are you okay? You look terrified." He said awkwardly, but then began with determination. "We need to get out of here. I don't know where the others went, but if they know what's good for them they'll get the hell out of here. We have Marius, but I hope that some of the others rescued Aqui..."
  7. Damon Marius knocked into Cindy beside him, almost hitting him as well if he didn't dodge out of the way. Things were looking bad, and with the exception of the newly summoned golem and the strange wolf spirit nobody seemed to be standing up against Li. 'I should go...' Damon thought, recovering from nearly having a body thrown at him. Cindy had gotten up and started to drag Marius behind her like a ragdoll. 'Probably a good idea to not leave a coerator to his doom.' Damon tok off after her through the ash and rubble that remained of the campus. The charred rubble of buildings brought back painful memories of his own home. This was all too familiar, it seemed like not so long ago he was in a similar situation. The ash smelled of death. Damon looked to Marius and Cindy. "No one else has to die here today." He said to himself, starting to follow his comrades retreating into the forest. 'Why? What is the point of this? Li was a Coerator herself. Why attack her own? What does she gain from this?" Damon thought to himself, sword in hand dashing behind Marius's flailing body. He looked over his shoulder ready for the worst, but the dragon lady still seemed preoccupied.
  8. Damon All hell seemed to break loose after Sylva's warning. The courtyard behind Damon seemed to erupt into a fiery hell hole as the ground shook. Damon cursed as the wall he was leaning on fell out behind him and nearly took him with it. Fire seemed to spread all around him, which really didn't concern him. As far as he knew fire could never hurt him. But doubts quickly began to form as he realized who that fire had belonged to. Sylva had made it rather clear that they should run, but Damon had never backed down from a fight. But this was a demigod... He wasn't particularly confident about his chances. His sword had instinctively flew into his hand as soon as he had regained his feet, and he started to back away from the fight a bit. 'Marius and Aqui seem rather out of their league...' he noted, watching the fight. 'Can we really just leave them though?' Damon thought hesitating to actually retreat. He looked to Sylva, then back to the fight, and the to Cindy... who seemed to be suicidal. 'What are you doing?!' Damon thought to himself, his distant honor preventing him from taking another step. Cindy's phantom hands reached out trying to grasp out at Li. Damon couldn't stand there anymore. "What the hell are you doing?!" He roared as he rushed forward and pulled Cindy's shoulder back with his left hand. "Do you know who that is?" Action seemed to boost the swordsman's confidence and he no longer felt fear.
  9. Damon 'So there is a lot that even Coerators don't know, or choose not to share... It is pretty clear though that neither of these two were responsible for my powers.' Damon still had a lot of questions, but it was clear that neither of them could probably help him. "Thank you..." Damon started before pausing for a moment, 'Would it be impolite to refer to him by his name? Sir Aqui doesn't seem right though.' "Aqui." He finished, before backing away almost bowing before he turned, but decided that it was probably for the best that he didn't. 'The Coerators don't seem like they are ones to really care about formalities, and being superior to begin with. The almost seem humble.' He thought after he turned and walked out of the center of attention. Aqui and Marius, although rather enigmatic seemed to have impressed Damon. They were quite different from how he has expected them to be. 'You seem to have recovered well.' He thought as he glanced at Roy as he passed him to return to his natural position against a wall. 'Hopefully this one won't collapse right next to me.' He thought, glancing over at the greatsword wielder still standing around near the breach he created in the wall. The greatsword always seemed an impractical weapon to Damon. 'Why lug around something that big, when a smaller weapon could be more effective in combat. Granted that I don't think smaller swords could smash through a wall, even though that was probably more due the his lumen than his weapon. Regardless it's still a slow weapon that anyone that knew what they were doing could probably dodge...' Damon though, sizing up the other swordsman. 'There is probably something more to his choice of weapon though... Lumen comes in many shapes and sizes.'
  10. Rhaeza "So none of the guards knows about us." Rhaeza said, refering to the task group, that he still hadn't returned to yet. "Don't know if that will be for the best or not. On the one hand there is no chance of the corruption finding out. But at the same time that presents an awkward situation if the guard gets involved. I would rather not have to explain myself to someone while the enemy is probably escaping, or getting closer to their target." Rhaeza had almost forgotten something that should have been blatantly obvious. "Nobody on the inside knows that you're alive still right? Did you have to make contact with anyone?" Rhaeza said while scanning the crowd, hoping to find anything out of the ordinary.
  11. Damon When Damon had first discovered his power he had wondered why he was chosen. Growing up he had always assumed that Coerators chose people at a young age, and their powers were only awakened later in their life. But why him? He was a nobody before his lumen. His lumen seemed to take everything away from him, but granted him so much. 'Is that the price of power?' He had often thought to himself. 'None of these others seemed to have lost everything. Some probably never had anything taken from them in their life before.' Aqui and Marius turned to face him. "And what do you want to know?" He normally wasn't this straight forward with any type of questions, but he knew that he probably wouldn't get any other chance. "How are lumen users chosen?" He awkwardly started. "Is it predetermined somehow? Or is there something else to it? From what I have been able to research, emotional trauma, stress, and probably a lot more that I don't know brings out the Lumen in people. Is the user chosen in that moment, or are they chosen a long time ago, if they are chosen at all." Damon said, keeping a rather cool voice after he got the ball rolling. 'I don't know if that came out exactly how I wanted it to, but I would rather not go into too much detail."
  12. Rhaeza As the Archangel was delivering his speech Rhaeza watched, hiding in plain sight as a civilian. He was paying less attention to his speech, and more towards the security at the event. 'How many of you are loyal... and the loyal ones, how long will they last?' Rhaeza pondered, before turing around and walking back to Marcus and Jarvis. "Any of the security look familiar? I feel like some of them may be undercover. We still don't know how deep this corruption is." He said, glancing around to make sure that nobody else could hear them speaking. "The security here is tight. It's hard to imagine anything breaking through this, but I've seen worse. Guards could be undercover, maybe even civilians, or both. There are stil a lot of unknowns here."
  13. Damon Damon had begun to ignore the incessant fighting between Damon and Rame and had zoned out, lost in his own thoughts. 'I still have to wonder why I was given Lumen over so many others, and why though? And what kind of sick bastard would' "Holy shit!" Damon exclaimed as he heard thundering crash as the wall less than 10 feet away from his was part of the wall exploded, sending debris flying. Damon recoiled and instinctively drew his longsword from his back and sparked a small but extremely hot blue flame in the palm of his left hand. His tension quickly faded as he recognized the guy who bursted through the wall as another of the new recruits. He didn't sheath his sword until Felis responded to Rame's outburst, sounding a mixture of genuinely sorry and confused at the same time. 'Seven hells, these people can't go five minutes without breaking something or someone.' Deciding that it would be in his best interests to move on Damon walked around and approached the two Coerators from the side of the room that didn't have a new entrance. 'Oh hell.' Damon thought as he clenched the wrappings around his fist to keep his composure as he addressed the living legends. "If you don't mind me asking, I have a question about how Lumen works that I have been wondering about for some time." He said, addressing both of the Coerators, who were still understandably occupied by the events following the new renovations to the auditorium. Damon probably knew more about Lumen and it's properties than most people, but his knowledge didn't stretch much farther than what was considered common knowledge.
  14. Damon "Based on how we do today? Isn't that what she said yesterday...?" before being cut off by Roys yelling. "...He really needs to learn that being angry all the time isn't going to get him answers from anyone." "They say a smart man learns from his mistakes, but a wise man learns from the mistakes of others... I don't think Roy is a smart man." Damon said, smikring a bit as he watched the white haired fire girl going at it with the edgy windbag. "Aqui is the falcon who saved the north from a massive Blizzard. I read about him a long time ago in a book I bought." Damon said, shifting his gaze to Aqui. 'I pictured him quite differently when I was a kid. I guess you picture everything differently before you see the real world though.' The tale of Aqui saving the entire continent of Aquilo, which recevied it's name for obvious reasons had deeply interested Damon as a child. He had to wonder how it was possible for someone to posses that much power. As a kid, he would have probably ran up and played 20 questions with the Coerator, and probably quickly annoyed him as well. But Damon was a very different person from when he was a child. 'Come to think of it Aqui probably granted Roy his powers because they're so similar. Assuming that is how they work. There is still so much that I don't know about Lumen. I probably don't know more than I know about the basics. It must be interesting for them to see people that they may have granted power to so long ago. It probably wasn't that long for them though, only a blink of an eye...'
  15. Damon Ultimately having chose the Dorm on the far left, not really looking or caring who was inside. Damon fell into his bed and attempted to 'sleep'. Damon was the type of person that liked to sleep in his own bed, which was consequently burned down when his little town was attacked. Just when Damon started to feel comfortable as Royland's apprentice in the north he had to leave again and come here. Damon hasn't had a proper night's rest for a long time now, six hours was all he could usually get, then he slept like a cat, waking at every slight sound. Damon's eyes opened when he heard the sounds of someone else stirring in the room. It took Damon a moment to actually remember where he was, then he snapped awake and got up. 'I suppose I can ditch the unnesecary wool, not that I ever needed it anyway.' He kept the navy blue undershirt and put on his furless black vest that had a yet again furless hood. It originally had Fur, but Damon was annoyed with it when he used it previously when it got in the way of his sight and cut if off. He reapplied his hand wrap on his left hand that hid the scar where his palm had nearly been impaled by the raiders on that fateful night. Lastly he put his longsword on his back, he never went anywhere without it anymore. When Damon entered the auditorium there were already a few people there, including Hassar. Which Damon noted chose to forgo a seat and instead kept his back to the wall, where nobody could approach him from behind. Damon stood a few feet from Hassar without saying a word.
  16. Damon "Looks like it's getting dark. We should probably pick a dorm. Whether he'll follow or not is his choice, but given his fighting...skills...I don't think he'll be much trouble if it comes to it." "I never like to underestimate an enemy, but if he does learn to better control his Lumen I don't know if I could have bested him." Damon said, as he strapped his longsword on his back and glanced at the sky. "Well I wouldn't count on him joining us, and I don't think it would be wise to follow him at the moment. Perhaps it would be best to let him go, regardless it would probably be best to pick a dormitory before the rest of our 'new friends' decide to." He said, as he picked up his bag that he had discarded when he originally went to look into the fountain, and threw it over his shoulder.
  17. Damon ¨It appears he tried to use his lumen.¨ he muttered. ¨And it didn´t work. Anger got the better of him. Lack of control leads to failure...¨ "Well I guessed that much, but to just leave without a word. Is he really so full of himself to just leave after failing. Are we not here to train, learn from our failures and the failures of others?" Damon said as he picked up his discarded sword sheath. "By the way, didn't catch your name before 'Roy' charged off into battle." Damon said.
  18. Damon Roy all but faltered under the crushing blow of the longsword's pommel, looking like he was struggling to stay on his feet. Damon felt kinda bad, but at this point it was nesecary, Roy's behavior was starting to get out of hand. Instead of calling it like most people would by this point Roy assumed an offensive stance, pointing his curved blade at Damon. 'He is determined I'll give him that.' "Wind, to my blade" 'shit.' "Wind.. to my blade now!" Damon glanced at Hassar, hoping for some kind of aid if Roy were to unleash a windblast at him, then at the fountain in case he needed to dive into cover. But nothing happened. Damon clenched the leather of his sword grip, unsure what to do at this point. "Screw this, this is a joke." Roy then promptly struggled to sheath his blade and stagger away with what was left of his stubborn pride. Damon's stance didn't relax until Roy was out of sight. "The hell just happened?" Damon asked equally to himself and Hassar.
  19. Damon "Shut up!" Roy was clearly winded and frusturated at this point, but instead of rushing in again he stopped briefly. Roy composed himself and changed his stance into a tail guard. 'He knows he isn't going to win unless he focuses and controls his attacks.' With that thought Roy lunged into another attack, swinging his sword up out of it's low position. Damon met it with a sideways parry, their swords locked and Roy pushed with all of his strength, clearly agitated at this point, Roy grunted as he pushed both of their sword aside, Damon defensively took a step back with his sword in a one handed grip held at his side. Roy then began his follow up strike, holding his weapon more like a baseball bat than a sword. 'Oh crap, he's giving this his all.' Damon knew exatly what to do, he reacted as fast as his weapon would allow him and switched into a two handed grip, and tilted his sword blade towards him. The defense allowed Damon to meet Roy's strike, but not perfectly. The katana thundered against the longsword, clearly leaving a notch in the blade. Damon's strength faltered slightly under the force of the attack as he expected. The katana cut against Damon's vest before he began his manuver. Because Damon had met Roy's attack slanted, he was able to shift his grip and meet both blades at their hilts. "This is probably going to hurt." The swordsman said, before twisting his grip and smashing Roy's hand with his crossguard. As Roy was recoiling in pain Damon followed up, striking at his opponent with the blunt pommel of his sword, hoping to incapacitate him before this got ugly.
  20. Damon The leg sweep did it's job, knocking Roy down, who recovered surprisingly fast considering he had his legs knocked out from under him with the broad side of a sword. 'Royland would still find something to complain about.' "A fluke...A point for you." Damon smiled, trying not to get too cocky though, he had learned his lesson about that numerous times in his own training. Unsurpsisingly Roy immediately went on the offensive again charging Damon with a flurry of blows. 'Oh crap.' Damon assumed a more defensive stance pointing his sword forward in a two handed grip with his right shoulder held high, ready for lots of parrying. As Damon met Roy's first blow with a parry he began to zone out and enter a conbat trance, his face expressionless, entirely focused on defending himself. Roy's flurrys began to overpower Damon slightly until he met one of Roy's blows with equal or greater force. 'The best defence is a good offense.' The blades clashed and Damon shifted his grip to face his sword forward. Roy's katana slid across the longsword and stopped at the crossguard. Damon and Roy's faces were again inches away from eachother. "You're getting sloppy because you're angry." Damon grunted, as he stepped forward slightly, and pushed Roy back again. He was slightly winded and held his sword in both hands in front of him, ready to strike again.
  21. Damon Roy's suckerpunch caught Damon off guard as he stumbled back. 'Well he definately isn't afraid to fight dirty.' Damon thought, as Roy attempted to deliver a lunging thrust, which Damon easily parried from the right and used the momentum to spin backwards into his next attack. Briefly jumping mid spin to build momentum and attack with astonishing speed he brought his left arm down smashed into Roy's collar bone pushing him him back. Master Royland had taught Damon a wide variety of tactics, if Damon would have had a left handed dagger, that would have easily been a fatal blow to any enemy. "Now why would I want to get expelled, we haven't even started yet." Damon said, before lunging forward with his sword over his shoulder as if he were about to do an overhead attack, but feinted and instead directed his lunger lower and swiped sideways at Roy's lower legs. This move was used on Damon so many times by his former master that it showed how much that he improved since he originally started training, now it was his turn.
  22. Damon Roy charged at Damon holding his katana in a two handed grip, which meant that he was going to a heavy overhead strike. Damon smiled, 'If he fights like his personality, this shouldn't be too hard. He'll probably try to get in close...' Damon thought as Roy rushed at him, swinging a sideways swipe at his head. Damon turned on his heel and switched to a two handed grip to meet the opposing blade at an angle. He knew he had to be careful how he met Roy's swings or he would spend hours with his whetstone getting notches out of his blade. As their blades crossed Damon lunged forward and kicked with his right foot at his opponent's chest before he had time to try something else. He then reversed the momentum of his body twisting to deliver the kick, and swung his sword in a one handed grip horizontally down at Roy, careful not to put too much force into the swing. 'Last thing I want is the bloodthirsty reputation that white haired one established.'
  23. Damon "So, that sword is given to you through charity, as it serves a reminder of your tragic past and still you choose to carry it!?" "Well, whatever floats your boat, kid. If it makes you feel any better honoring your dead dad and whatnot." "Only a fool forgets his past, my sword serves as a reminder of why I am here." Damon said, contemplating adding how he had planned to leave once he was sent away and find those responsible for his parent's death, and avenge his father with a sword he had made, but he figured he would be wasting his breath. Then Hassar suggested that they should have a duel, which was rather surprising to Damon considering how well "practicing" went earlier in the day. "Well this trip has been annoyingly long and I haven't had a chance to practice since I left... "Damon said, pausing briefly. "It would probably be best if we stayed away from Lumen though, I think we have had enough problems with lumen for today. And judging from how fast the instructors ended the previous fight, I would rather this didn't get out of hand." Damon said, assuming a balanced combat stance with his right foot forward and his left at a 90 degree angle to that. He also shifted his weight to his left foot so that he could spring and attack instantly with his right if need be. "Let's just make sure we don't kill each other, I think you two are the only people that I can stand so far... I almost forgot, my name is Damon" He said as he reached to his back, unbuttoned his sword belt, brought the sheath in front of him, and pulled the sword from the sheath, discarding the sheath by the fountain. The hilt of the sword was surprisingly fancy compared to Damon's rugged attire, having and engraving in the hilt, and an expertly smithed pommel, but the blade itself was rather plain but practical, and seemed to be darker near the tip, due to Damon's use of his lumen to heat the tip as hot as a branding iron.
  24. Damon Damon frowned at Roy's guesses at the origin of his sword, not really wanting to talk about it, but decided that he wasn't going to get anywhere with these people if he wasn't at least a little open with his past. "My father is a blacksmith... He made the sword years ago as a commision from the lord... After my parents died and I discovered my lumen I fell under the same lord's care. He gave it to me as a gift, he said that my father would want me to have it and that he had never used it anyway... " Damon struggled to say, being very uncomfortable talking about his past. Whenever he did talk about his past it was hard not to get angry.
