Salamencite is banned, though. Also I'm not entirely sure Smeargle would be a good idea. It's far too gimmicky and easily countered, especially in doubles or triples. Thirdly, that Mimikyu may be Adamant if you're going for bulk. Lv.100 Jolly Mimikyu with 0 Spe EVs gives 250 Speed, which doesn't outspeed most threats you're going to face.

I thought that the reserve Fairy Gym Leader would be either Zero, Eve or Lumi. Since after the creation of the Pulses they just vanished and fused into one person and joined Team Meteor. Since Tangrowth is the first pulse, that person reserved as a Fairy Leader just vanished/fused after the events of Jasper.

Not exactly. The first PULSE machines were for Magnezone and there was also a prototype for Garbodor. Plus, before ZEL was fused, Eve and Lumi lived in Ametrine, not Jasper.

Fern's a hero? Wouldn't Cain suit the case? To be honest, I always thought Fern would have a deadly fate by Lin. After all, he did betrayed Reborn by joining team Meteor.

    Spoiler

Fern basically joined Team Meteor just to spite the main character. In an alternate timeline without the PC, he could very well been the hero assuming the main character didn't interfere.

  4. Spoiler

    Here's my take.

    ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

"It is a future where you do not exist.
It is a future where there were ever any traces of you existing.

This is strange because you are the only one I will ever see such a thing for.
but let me tell you about this world you are not in."

Seems as if Solaris' New World goal will happen in the future. Perhaps creating a split timeline where the events that happened in the game never existed?

    ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

"During a time that this ward is still garnished with deadly flora,"

I'd take it that this would happen between Julia and Corey in the alternate timeline.

    ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

"A boy with a beaded tooth necklace steps forward to destroy the chaos."

Cain or Fern, I believe. They are the only male charactes that wear necklaces in Reborn.

    ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

"He earns friends to fight alongside him.
    A man with spiked bracelets...
    Another azure hair...
A girl blessed with a sleeping star..."

The man with spiked bracelets I'm pretty sure is Arclight, while the azure hair is probably Cal, while the girl is most likely Anna with her Jirachi doll.

    ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

"And a taciturn woman in a black and red suit."

Perhaps Charlotte? Unless a character gets a clothing makeover, she's practically the only person wearing black and red that fits the description.

    ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

"Together, they cut the tainted roots away from this city,
    Purge poison from the lake,
And chase fire from the mountain peaks."

Reference to the PULSE Tangrowth, Muk/Swalot, and Camerupt. In short, without the PC then those five would be the ones to restore Reborn.

    ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    "The city streets crack,
Spiked bracelets splinter in the fissure below.
    Shining armor strikes,"

Probably the Grand Finale in the saga of this new world. Arclight may end up dying and Titania may play a role there.

    ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    "Azure hair is re-dyed red.
An enemy of his own blood stands before him,"

Cal vs. Blake again. Seems like Cal's hatred for Blake once again takes center-stage for his personality.

    ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

"The sleeping star invokes a wish.
From there, the suited girl disappears.
And that future follows shortly after."

Anna's Jirachi doll finally wakes up, though without knowledge of who that suited girl is, then I'm not entirely sure what that future means.

    ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

So yeah, this is pretty much everything I have so far.

The only reason that Amaria survived the fall was because that event was based on something that happened in real life. IRL Amaria actually lost her memories from a car accident. The same is true for both Corey and Kiki, they both died IRL, Corey killed himself and Kiki died from her disease. Of course in-game some of these events are exaggerated or changed to match the story more, but in essence they are still there.

You might not know this but Reborn is based on an online league of the same name that was run on Pokemon Showdown. This league had leaders that were real people and a lot of the events in the Reborn game are based off of their lives. A few that I know of are the legal disputes between El, Radomus and Serra to see who would become Luna's guardian, Sigmund might have used ECT on some of his patients, Cain had a big fight with his mother after she saw him kissing a guy, and of course the events I described in the paragraph above.

    Spoiler

I am aware of Reborn's origins in the online league. It's just that much of what happens in Reborn is put in a more dramatic and dark-ish light, but as of lately the game seems to have taken a much darker turn than average. Both the deaths of Corey and Kiki are somewhat parallel to what happened to them in real life, but several minor characters have been killed on-screen, the reason for Amaria's amnesia is a lot darker, and even characters who are still alive IRL have been killed off in-game. In short, the game seems to have taken a hint of Cerberus Syndrome lately.

  6. Spoiler

Spoilers for both Reborn and Rejuvenation here but, eh, I doubt it. The thing is, Ame and Jan are two completely different writers. Jan doesn't really like killing his characters off and so he often employs means to bring back characters that seemed to be dead and whatnot. Ame is a lot more cold about characters deaths and whatnot and doesn't take killing off character for real too lightly. The only time that Ame didn't decide to outright kill a character was during Amaria's failed attempt at suicide, and that's because she's was the only Water-type leader in Reborn's history. Jan on the other hand is very hesitant to kill his characters and so far we've only seen the deaths of very minor characters here and there.

i guess it got into something since the battle...

It's somewhat minor, but it does kind of break the suspension of disbelief. A solution here would be to create an algorithm that decides the shiny rolls right before you battle Corey and makes his 'mons shiny in the battle if the rolls hit shiny. Not something that crucial for the game, but this could be pretty amusing to see implemented, especially with Reborn's high shiny rates.

  8. So far I have to say that development is coming along smoothly. A few things here:

    1) I've decided to postpone the public release date for mid-2017. The reason here is that by the time the game's out I would like to fully implement Gen 7 mons as I'd rather just nip this in the bud and get over with these mons before having to shift too much data around when they get implemented.

    2) I'll need some beta testers to search for bugs and just do a general playtest of the current game. Basically, their duty is to see if there are any fatal bugs, if the plot flows smoothly, and to check if the level curve and general balance is reasonable and whatnot. The only requirements for tester position here is a NDA (don't be twatwaffle and spoil the game for others), and I'd favor people who are skilled battlers and enjoy exploring and focusing on the storyline.

    3) @YoshiofRedemption's question. So far the level cap is TBD. As I've said above, the level curve is still being fine-tuned so I'll likely cap it at the finale, with some wiggle room of course.

    4) From time to time I'll be posting snippets of in-game lore along with pics in spoiler tags. If you're interested in plot teasers, then these are your thing. If you wish to go into the game fully blind, then avoid them.

Tredecim Lore I: The Dreadful Twelve

    Spoiler

    OuroborosStar.png

Not much is known about the secretive paramilitary organization of Pandaemonium that is called Ouroboros apart from rumor and hearsay, yet what we do know is that  near the top of its chain of command lies twelve executives, feared as much as awed, who often are seen directing and overseeing the organization's work. These twelve agents are colloquially known as the Dreadful Twelve and are infamous for their cruelty, determination, and skill in battling, which has been said that even rivals that of Tredecim's Gym Leaders. Often raised in the youth branch of Ouroboros since a young age and enhanced by Thetacite Infusion, these executives are the forefront of the organizations' expeditions and have significant political power over the Republic of Pandaemonium, almost to the level of the Republic National Party, the totalitarian party which rules Pandaemonium with an iron fist.

Hmm that is interesting. But Ame said we met all of the characters as of episode 14, so 'savage' would have to be someone we know. My bet is on Elias, since his past is still pretty much mysterious and you could say that he is mad.

Pretty sure that the Savage that the NPC is talking about is the Beartic of the Smoochum event. Aside from the fact that he's pretty close to S̼̥̘̟h̨̟̘̦͓̕͝ͅa̵̷̩̤̤͈̩̰̜͚d͟͏̘̼͎̥̮̖̕e̢̩ 's gym, the name of the trainer battle there is "Pokemon Savage."

  10. Who says we will fight one of them?

And it'll probably be PULSE Hippowdon, as T-tar is either too broken or, if you have a physical Fighting-type, too easy.

Eh, PULSE T-Tar could be in a field where Fighting types moves just plain out don't work, though.

  11. The shuckle shot its own focus blast back

interesting take btw. completely different from how i picture focus blast

Twas a joke though. I'm surprised that Focus Blast managed to hit twice despite how it has such a ridiculously low hit rate. Though yeah, the animations here are all pretty badass on their own.

    • I was originally going to put the link back up with E16, but if I can keep this pace up, I'll consider it.
    • Way ahead of you. ^~^
    • It should be fairly predictable, but I still have all the other wards to go through.

Animations? This Focus Blast comes from Inuki.

    GKzzLrH.gif

I'm about halfway done with Peridot now. It has more hot-spots than any of the other wards so it's been a thing. No numeric progress, but you can have this:

    Where are you going?

    cVhoiMg.gif

I'm skeptic if that's the real Focus Blast. If that was really Focus Blast, then why did it hit twice in a row?

  12. Pretty sure that this is an Essentials glitch. I was trying to make a trainer have a Custap Forretress in my own PE game yet no luck. The Forretress would always survive via Sturdy but would never activate the berry. So I'd guess this is more of an engine issue.

  13. Competitive-wise, Doublade. Aside from the fact that Aegislash is generally ban-hammered a lot, an Eviolite allows Doublade set up against most physical mons and become a pretty bulky sweeper and wall-breaker with Sacred Sword and Shadow Sneak. Basically, it's kind of like a more brute-force oriented Dusclops that gets more raw damage, toxic immunity, and type resistance over Dusclops' utility. Also, doubleswords.

  14. (Under Construction)

    Intro

After planning and planning, I’ve finally decided to start working on my own fan-game. Ideally I wanted to create a game in the line of Rejuvenation or Reborn, where rather than the typical badge plot we’d get a more complex storyline along with difficult battles. Though this game will also be closer to the main series in some aspects, such as depending on encounters rather than events to catch Pokémon. I also will be implementing more custom content to help players further specialize their Pokémon and in general shaking up the gameplay.

    Story

Tredecim, a massive and diverse super-region that is home to a wide variety of fauna and flora. Alas, this land has remained in disarray and periodic warfare and political conflict ever since the end of Emperor Melchizedek III’s reign several millennia ago. The current era has been marred by constant wars between the aggressive and expansionist Republic of Pandaemonium and the loose coalition of states known as the Liberty Confederation, yet in this day forty years ago, an uneasy peace has been struck between the two nations. Unfortunately, with the reemergence of ancient doomsday weapons and the discovery of a powerful mineral known as Thetacite, this uneasy peace may soon come to an end.

The Tredecim region is also known home to its famous Tripartite League. Rather than having a single league system akin to other regions, Tredecim has adopted a three-tiered system where three championships are held, and in order to participate in the higher tiered ones a trainer must first defeat the champion of the lower tier league. The Tredecim league is known for having merciless and skilled Gym Leaders who do not hold back ever for the meekest challengers. Despite being located in a politically unstable region, the League itself is an impartial organization albeit some of its members hold high offices within their respective states.

This is where our story begins. Orphaned at a young age, you have lived with your younger sister, Rita, and your older brother, Saul. That is, until Saul’s untimely demise at the hands of Ouroboros, Pandaemonium’s infamous paramilitary organization responsible for politically-motivated kidnappings, assassinations, and terrorism. Now you have decided to take on the Tripartite League in order to make a name for yourself, however that is until the winds of fate abruptly stopped your stillborn journey, and sent you into a maelstrom of complex gambits, Byzantine politics, ancient conspiracies, and the like. This is where the opening chapter of the tale of Tredecim begins.

    Features

    · Challenging storyline-related and other important battle. Mostly focused on enemy trainers having six Pokémon all with good sets and levels matching up to the player rather than fake difficulty.

    · A story-driven game with fleshed out characters that develop throughout the storyline. This includes a plot full of twists, turns, suspense, and intrigue.

    · Several sub-regions including many optional side-areas to explore with side-quests to do.

    · Unique and new sprites and overworlds for every major storyline character. Barring for generic NPCs, no sprites will be recycled.

    · Fakemon evolutions that branch off from the original 721 Pokémon, allowing many of the weaker and less used Pokémon to gain greater strength to put them on pair with the commonly used ones late-game.

    · Custom in-battle hold items. Further expand your strategy than the typical Life Orb and Leftovers spam.

    · Custom late-game content. This includes new moves, new evolutions, new items, and much more to keep the Lv 100+ areas interesting and fresh.

    · A simplified HM system that allows the player to use HM moves even if the Pokémon is in the storage box.

    · Reworked Mega Evolution. In order to compete with many of the new end-game Fakemon along with the new items, many Megas were reworked to completely new Pokémon with altered BSTs to keep the balance in-line.

    · Different evolution methods. All the trade evolutions were completely reworked and some of the stronger Pokémon now require side-quests to be done in order for them to evolve.

    QA

Q: Will there be any Fakemon?

A: Yes, but only evolutions from original mons, nothing else.

Q: When is the first demo going to go out?

    A: Q4 2016

Q: How do I evolve a certain Pokémon?

A: Try reading around. Many NPCs give hints on evolving certain mons.

  15. -The overuse of Leftovers (and related gradual-healing items) and Life Orbs on so many opponents. I understand Reborn is supposed to be hard, but I see items like that in so many battles that they're starting to become frequent annoyances more than anything else. It's like they can't think of another item to use, or that they have to give a mon an item, so they just go, "Meh I'll just give 'em Leftovers/a Life Orb too." It's also like... how many Department Store stickers do these guys have where they have so many Leftovers like it's nothing?! Maybe I want one too. Jerks.

Sadly this is pretty much also true in the competitive level to a certain extent. Life Orb and Leftovers are basically some of the best all-around items for sweepers and bulky mons respectively. It's more about the lack of proper itemization than Ame being lazy here.

  16. Grass-types aren't that weak though. There are still several Grass-type mons such as Breloom, Ferrothorn, Whimsicott, and Serperior that can wreck face when played well. The issue here is that they generally require some finesse and strategy to work properly rather than raw power so they're sub-par when played by an AI.
