Is it a good starting point for someone new to the series?

l know plenty that started there ye. With Persona you can start pretty much on 3, 4, or 5. Though lf you start with 5 the earlier 2 might be difficult to get into. So, lf you really want to play those you might want to start at 3 and work your way up. ((1 and 2 as far l as aware are quite different from the rest of the series so they'd not really be the same kind of expierence as the later entries.))

You can start with really any Persona game.

I just started with Persona 3 and ended up liking that one more than Persona 4.

But Persona 5 blows all of these games out of the water.
