  1. I never thought I would see myself posting here but--

I'm a decently prideful person, I can admit when someone's better than I am but I'll never act on it or actually admit it, and I never want to feel like someone else is better than I am at something I like. I.E Pokemon. I've been trying to get skilled at competitive Pokemon for a while now but I always hit a wall, so I blew it off. But, I've always meant to try again.

However, I really have an incentive this time. Now there's a girl involved. She is an absolute boss at competitive Pokemon and it would be awesome if I could be as good as her and be a challenge to her. Sadly, she's expressed that she really hates teaching people. So. I didn't ask.

I want to learn as much as I can. The tiers, team building, battling, everything.

If anyone who is really confident in their ability is willing to take a completely dedicated, eager, overly passionate and determined pupil, please.

    Help a brother out.

  2. Hels more or less agreed with everything said, but there was still the matter of the unknown.

"I do not think it's that easy, if we may call this easy. We still lack necessary information about Caster's abilities which could be devastating. While I agree Saber has the highest chance of success against Caster alone, what about the others? This field of magic will bring Servants like moths to a flame, even if only to act as a fly on the wall. Archer, Berserker, and Rider. We know nothing about them".

Hels took a moment to breathe before continuing. "I have a suggestion". He turned to Assassin's master. "Assassin has already seen this area and has felt its power. However, I understand Assassin might not be able to withstand it very long, neither will Lancer". Lancer turned his head upon hearing his title, acting as though he had just begun to pay attention.

"I suggest Assassin moves along the border of the magic field, dipping in and out for as long as he can to peer in. Moving along the border will give us vision as well as a higher chance of spying other Servants before they spy us. Once Caster has been found, Lancer will meet them in the corner Saber has corralled them into. Against them both, Caster will easily fall. The other Servants might then retreat after realizing the situation of our alliance. I would like to say none of them have formed any groups as it seems highly unlikely, but the possibility remains".

  3. Huge tie between Pidgeot and Cofagrigus. Pidgeot with Roost and Feather Dance, Cofagrigus with Curse and Will-o-Wisp, saved my as more times than I can count. I never liked Cofagrigus, I always thought Pidgeot was near fully outclasses in every way. Cofagrigus grew on me after crippling SolarisChomp and Pidgeot was just fast enough, just tank enough to assure my Gardevoir to set up on a -6 Attack Pokemon. Two of the biggest bad asses ever.

  4. I couldn't find a GIF that properly portrayed my regret and apology in a funny way but I'm home and will be here for several months and I'm sorry. I'm usually very punctual but it's a very busy time for business. Won't happen again. Gomen.

    Scout's honour.

  5. Hels rubbed his wrist and exhaled from his nose. He lifted his head to meet the eyes of Saber's master and pushed himself off the wall to stand straight, running a hand through his hair. These mannerisms were all in an attempt to gather his thoughts in a way he could speak and reveal nothing he might prefer under lock and key. However, Hels had realized long before this day that he would have to traverse far beyond his comfort zone if he were to make progress. Hels shook the nerves off of him. He was here, under the service of the divine. There was nothing to fear.

"Beowulf. I've read your legend". Hels extended his hand to the side in an introduction. "Lancer, if you will". In a faded shimmer, the tall, lanky figure of Lancer appeared beside him. Lancer was easily almost seven feet or more, and Hels could feel his discomfort in such a small room. His soldier leathers were fitted poorly, yet still showed the great physical prowess of his body. "Celtchar of Ulster has been summoned under the Lancer class to serve alongside me in this war, I trust you are familiar with his legend? Regardless, Lancer will show to be a valuable partner in combat with Saber. I would prefer our merry band to fight in the same war on the same side, not different wars on the same side. Distrust aside-" Hels cast a moment's glance to where Assassin's master was standing. "Let us work together under the service of the lord".

Hels extended his hand to Saber's master.

((I'm sorry about not being there to post. I had to drive a carpool to Colorado for business and I didn't think it would have taken so long)).

  6. Hels had finished his pact with Lancer only minutes prior to the phone call but had made enough of the time to find the upstairs bathroom sink and run some water over his head. The cold water was relaxing, enough to calm his frayed nerves and clear his thoughts. As Hels stood and dried his hair, he could hear footsteps moving up the stairs towards the ringing of the phone, followed by a rather aggressive call for assembly. Hels had figured one of the other two would attempt to claw himself into a position of authority. Hels shook his head and chuckled into his towel, rubbing it over his head.

"Petty, is it not?". Hels mumbled the question, and after a few moments, as if earning an answer, "Yes, you are correct. That's why I'm here. Hopefully, there is a road that will lead him to enlightenment".

With silent steps, the young priest moved to stand in the door way of the room where the phone was kept. He was curious as to if this child would assume his orders were being followed, or perhaps he knew better? Regardless, Hels stepped once more into the room, leaning against the furthest wall with a passive demeanor. In actuality, Hels was excited to meet the other Masters in a hidden desire to find someone he might connect with. After realizing this was most likely not going to happen, Hels cast away any interest there might have been for his fellow Mages.

    Hels stood quietly, listening.

  7. Hels stepped out onto the terrace, surrounded by iridescent the candle light he had set up hours before. He had dressed in his holy priest's garbs to commemorate the occasion, yet it felt no different from any other day. To Hels, today was no different from any other day. He was simply acting out the will of the lord, and he intended to see this trial to the end. Having prepared beforehand, the Summoning Circle was already drawn. However, as the hours had past, the liquid had run dry.

"No matter" Hels told himself. "Easily remedied".

In a corner, the source of the dried, crusted liquid slouched and slid to the floor. Hels grimaced. He should have chosen to keep the head on. Those leather shoes were the only thing not completely soiled. As much as he appreciated the connections given by the holy church, it had become a habit of misusing them for petty reasons. He used the sack of bloody meat to finish the summoning circle.

Hels took a small plastic bottle of hair gel from his coat, opening the cap and squeezing a modest amount into his hands, using it to slick his hair back, highlighting the sharpness his widow's peak. The young priest pulled a small ornate marble box from his coat and opened it, taking hold of the small metal rivet that appeared to be nothing but rusted dust. He set the object in its place and extended his hands forward, closing his eyes.

    Fill. Fill. Fill. Fill. Fill.

Let it be filled fivefold for every turn, simply breaking asunder with every filling.

For the essence, silver and steel.

For the foundation, stone and the archduke of contracts.

Close the gates of the four cardinal directions.

Come forth from the crown, and follow the three forked road leading to the kingdom.

    Let it be declared now.

    My will creates your body.

    Your sword creates my destiny.

If you heed the Grail's call and obey my will and reason, then answer me.

    I hereby swear.

That I shall be all the good in the world.

That I shall defeat all evil in the world.

The fires of war have judged you
The venom of man retains you
He who served the land will serve again.

From the seventh heaven, clad in the three great words of power,

come forth from the circle of binding, guardian of the scales!

Upon finishing the chant, Hels was immersed in a storm of flames so fierce, he could feel the pressure against him. Within moments, the fire subsided into a haze of violet mist, casting a veil over a human figure that towered above the boy. The mist faded to reveal a man Hels had been waiting for. Tall and thin, yet with thick muscles creating his frame, poorly groomed, short brown hair that fell just above his eyes which were a stately dark green. The figure was dressed in robes, covering over leather and iron soldier's leathers connected by thick rope strands. The figure bowed his head but nothing else.

"Celtchar of Ulster, young master. I have answered your call and stand at your behest".

Hels ran a hand through his hair, a habitual gesture he was barely aware of. "Celtchar... No, Lancer. I welcome you into the service of the lord. However, there are two factors you must comply with in order for this to remain a harmonious union".

Celtchar lifted his eyebrows. If he was feigning interest, he was well adept at it. "First, never refer to me as a master. I am no master, I am a servant the same as you, one at the call of God. I am Hels Kurgis, and you are Lancer". Lancer nodded in acknowledgement. "Second, you are not to speak or communicate with the other Servants or Masters without my presence. This is not a leash, I promise you, only a precaution".

Lancer nodded again yet did not respond. After a few moment's silence, Lancer bowed his head and vanished into a shower of silver, taking an ethereal form. "Quite a droll Servant if any..."

Hels' eyes widened, and he cracked his knuckles, breaking out in a smile which was followed by silent laughter. He stared upwards with the look of enticement still on his face, almost as if hearing something in the silence.

    "Thy Will be done".

  8. My schedule has bad timing as I've had work from 6-4 these past few days, then classes from 6-11. Fortunately, today is my Friday and I'll be home to post in about five and a half hours (5:00 P.M Pacific).

    Just so you guys know.

  9. If you'd like, I can explain it if it's too much an anomaly. In simplistic terms, it's in the same regard to Kirei Kotomine although under different terms and regulations from how Kirei was under a tutelage, Hels is more over a tool to secure the Grail, or rather increase the chance of doing so by providing a Master easily commanded.

  10. Hels Kurgis of the Holy Church.

    Name: Hels Kurgis

    Age: Twenty-three

Appearance: Hels is a tall, sinewy man, obviously athletic, somewhere around 6'1” with almost no fat on his body. His skin pale in contrast to his jet black hair which lies in a wavy mess across his eyes when on his own, and fully slicked back when in public. His eyes are a stately gray, more accurately a piercing hazel that seems almost devoid of emotion, which lies opposite of the devil's grin that always seems to have a place with him. Hels can be seen dressed in a priest's garbs with the long black coat, steel rivet buttons down the middle and a silver cross fitted on the chest

Personality: Hels lacks any regard for the rights of humanity, only keeping in thought those designated by the Lord. Within the rounds of business such as the Church or within its territories, under company of the priests or in times of the Holy Grail War, Hels stands resolute in the beliefs given to him. In an almost obsessive manner, Hels carries out the will of the lord in the most enthusiastic way permitted. If you do not bow to the lord, you are nothing but trash to be disposed of. Hels considers the Holy Grail War to be a trial of God to prove his faith true.

Hels has a calculative mind, preferring to have a plan before moving or taking action. However, Hels revels in the fact that everything he plans could go wrong and relishes the challenge it might present. Working with others has always been a strong suit for him as he has a talent for taking into account the abilities and compatibility of those with him, yet he rarely gets the chance to practice this.

When outside the boundaries of the religious standard, Hels is a completely different person, almost vulnerable in his thoughts. Curious and open to the world around him, he cannot help the “sin” of curiosity and questioning when he is not bound by the chains of priesthood. Days like this come few and far between. It is not a side Hels is proud of, but it is a part of him nontheless.

    Nationality: Welsh

A trifle of trivia: When not bound in prayer or chores, Hels has taken to re-writing the holy mandates of various religions. The Qur'an, Tanakh, as well as the various forms of the bible with claims God speaks to him to correct the follies of man.

Outside of the Church, Hels has a secret hobby of exploring the town in disguise trying out the local cuisine.

Elemental Affinity and preffered Magecraft: Fire/Earth Affinity – Holy Sacraments as Magecraft

Command Seal (design and location); An ornate “7” with the edges curved into thorny crescents that shape outwards, an “x” with each edge curving out in a similar crescent manner crossing through the base of the “7”. Located within the palm of the left hand.

MA (is or isn't working for the MA): Allied with the Mage's Association

I know I said I would have it posted earlier. I recently arrived home after the worst fucking day I have ever had the displeasure of living through. I'm going to go drown myself in ice cream and chill out.

Sorry for being late. But, here's Hels.

  11. Face claim is like, the picture of a person/character (anime and video games mostly) that you use to most closely relate to your character's appearance.

Edit: Stupid phone submitted the post before I was done typing.

I want to see how the Masters really interact with each other, which might ultimately decide the alliances that are formed. Especially for those outside the MA. As for Archer, I can't say I'm not worried considering his raw capability but it's exciting to think about all the ways I can fight him.

  12. Hels is all finished, I just need to post him. Gave up on finding a picture for a Command Seal so I'll just have to explain it... Once I'm out of class tomorrow I'll go over it once more and post him.

On another note just out of curiosity, if you all picked a face claim for Servant and Master, who would it be?

  13. Spam the quote button. All you need to do is hit quote on whatever you want to quote again and then delete the unnecessary parts.

    Like this?

The base stats are more of a guideline than a hard base as I've seen. There have been servants that have dipped below those very base stats before. As for Diarmuid, it did puzzle me initially but then I realized his master is probably the most competent of all of them so far.

Hels Kurgis is a mini Kirei Kotomine with a helping of Hallelujah Haptism. I wouldn't say he's a master mage but he is naturally gifted. It's the only reason he was initially emancipated from the streets and raised as a priest. His status is literally the same as Kirei Kotomine. A representative from the Holy Church offered to the Mage's Association as a tool of cooperation. Despite the similarities, it was just the base I'm using. But anyways, he is decently gifted and professionally taught.

In that case how does it kill him? If he's immune to fire what exactly does the spear do to him? Also, seeing as accounts of the spear almost seem as if it is alive (and has significant blood lust as you already know) I wouldn't be against it having an effect through which it will actively seek out it's target. No Gae Bolg style crazyness, in the hands of a master it likely wouldn't add anything but it would be pretty neat fluff, that's just how the spear comes across to me.

He isn't immune to heat and fire, just severely resistant. It's more of a requirement to even wield Luin e Celtchar. The resistance only goes so far, say fifteen consecutive posts. That time is basically spent in pure combat, before requiring to reset the power gained or die. If anyone else tried to steal Luin and use it against him, they'd find themselves in hot water. Or if they got too close during a high charge, the pure heat would hinder them. Not lethally, but it might make you dizzy or something.

  14. A/B/C is a rearrangement of the stats that Cuchulain has. Cuchulain being a demigod, with significantly more fame (and probably ability) than Celtchar. However, if those are the stats you want I won't stop you. It is after all your character to make, and Bfroger's to approve, I'm just trying to help make it reasonable.

Honestly I'd drop the whole penalty thing. To me the lance sounds like a weapon of deadly power, which can ultimately backfire (pun intended) on it's wielder. I think it's enough for it to kill the wielder by burning them alive if left unquenched for too long. For that reason I question his fire resistance. Was that just to make him immune to his own lance's effects or do you have some other reason for him to have it? 'Cause that kind of takes away the risk aspect of wielding it, and the risk is a huge part of the lance's story.

I'd label it as D to EX, and then make sure how powerful it is is clear each time you're about to use it.

Grumble grumble not a class skill grumble grumble. I dunno, ultimately it's up to you.

If you're saying that it'll kill a servant with a single drop then it should be EX ranked. I'm assuming it can't be applied to the invisible blade at the tip though? Would kind of defeat the purpose of that part being invisible.

Pardon my lack of know-how in regards to the specific quotations.

A re-arrangement doesn't seem too far off considering the base stats and legend. (I made a mistake earlier saying a Lancer's base strength is C, it's actually B from what I'm reading on the Wiki). A Lancer's base retainer stats are Strength B/ Endurance C/ Agility A. Diarmuid Ua Duibhne has those exact same stats except Agility as A+ while also not having any kind of divine aspects. Having Celtchar with Strength A/ Endurance B/ and Agility C reflects Lancer's base retainer stats while also giving homage to his prowess.

The reason Celtchar's personal skill is Heat Resistance is because of exactly his weapon. Fighting battle after battle with a weapon that continuously grows in heat, I feel it would logically begin to create a resistance through repeated exposure. The penalty is there to somewhat replicate that aspect. Celtchar being the only one being able to wield it as any other man simply passed out of heat exhaustion (or inability to lift Luin). I could make it that he can simply wield it for fifteen posts or his life comes into risk, or consciousness, but I feel the "lose a rank of endurance every five posts" reflects the toll it takes on the user. The risk, you could say. The greater the power it offers, the heavier the cost, lowering his Endurance the further he powers up. Risk reward. I come from a RP community where post limits are mandatory for nearly everything, but I do feel that it applies here as well in this specific instance.

I'll label it as D to EX depending on the charge and state the rank when required.

Grumble grumble it's on the Wiki and Fate/ Extra's canon can be nitpicked plus I need it to be less noob grumble grumble... Just seems to fit.

If I want to play my own violin (or rather Celtchar's) I would puff out my chest and say that I think it can kill a Servant if they decide to put their head in or drink it. And no, it cannot be applied to the invisible tip. I mean, ranking it EX and having a second Noble Phantasm that ranks D and gains rank with time doesn't seem too severe. But, as Fate/ tends to bend history in order for it to work, I'm not against changing the aspects of the poison and/or how it works. It won't exactly break the character, so.

  15. I posted Lancer how he is for exactly this kind of critique. How does A/B/C sound? I set his Strength at A due to his legend. A normal Lancer has C Strength and A Agi, yet from the legend, Luin (the lance) is described as being so heavy and massive it took a team of oxen to lift. Also, Celtchar was never described as slow or lunking and was rather famous for his ability to wield Luin, and actually quite efficiently. Wielding a lance that heavy with particular ease I believe was standard for A Strength, yet considering the weight, I lowered his Agi one rank. If you're still skeptical, a heroic spirit's parameters are affected by their fame and legend if I recall correctly. Although if it were lowered to A/B/C, the condition for Luin might be removed, being the "lose one rank of Endurance every five of the user's posts if the lance remains ignited". The lance itself takes a toll on the user after a while considering it will infinitely gain power through flame. I ranked the initial NP A+ due to its basic principle since it's more or less a flaming nuke stick. It's awesome, just not very diverse. The power growth maxes with the user's capabilities. With both Endurance A and Heat Resistance A, that already insinuates a tremendous amount of power that continuously grows. I had originally planned to label it as D to EX depending on the charge, in which I would definitely compare it to GoB or Ionian Hetairoi when highly charged but that felt like it would confuse people.

I can agree that Battle Continuation at an A can be lowered to a C. Magic Resistance I feel is comfortable at D, however.

Celtchar's vat of poison was regarded as the devil's own piss (or blood depending on which story you prefer) in where anything that came in contact was disintegrated, man, magic, or steel. It was so powerful it was the only force that could extinguish Luin once lit, and kept it in check. Ionian Hetairoi and GoB are EX considering their variability, capability, and parameters. I would like to say the poison itself stands on par but it lacks overall variability and capability. Its utilization is sub-par. I don't particularly mind either way what it is ranked, so I'll ask what you guys think?

  16. Celtchar's title in life was the "Terrible Hero" as everything heroic he performed was brutal and harsh. He saved a king by impaling nine men with one lance throw, he crucified a demon through it's feet with broadswords. He shoved his hand down a monster's throat and ripped its heart out.

But yeah, he's actually a pretty nice guy.

  17. It's interesting if not sprawled out. There's a page on a Wiki about his death and the three menaces but I found more info on books and little inserts on pages. It took a while just because a decent Lancer was hard to find and when I did, I kept finding more and more information just when I thought I was done.

  18. I'm just going to go with you on that. I mean. The poison itself is easily above A rank, yet remains D due to its actual use of a fire extinguisher. But your point stands.

Either way, Lancer feels like a solid Servant to me and I'm happy with how he turned out.
