I don't think it is a belief thing...pretty sure it was cause he tohught I would hate it. (and judging from DD's answer there, I assume that is why he said too XD.)
Just throwing ideas, although part of the post got cut off- psh, doesn't matter. I compared the two because both involved the MC gaining a supernatural power they both used to reshape the world. Death Note did get pretty disappointing after some events...
