Some say the world will end in fire, Some say in ice. From what I’ve tasted of desire I hold with those who favor fire. But if it had to perish twice, I think I know enough of hate To say that for destruction ice Is also great And would suffice.

What if the world endured
But our doom as a race ensured
That we who infest and corrupt
Brought forth chaos to erupt
And end our days in pain
Only for Nature to reclaim
That which we now ravage
For the world to revert, pristine and savage
Primordial as it once was
To gain as a whole at our loss?
It may just be that I am cracked
For this doggerel is at best abstract
And indeed is no more than what
A raving loon has begot!
