"See, honey, I told you that taking up the Breeder program would be just as fulfilling as the Trainer program," Raiza's mother remarked jovially, with the faintest undertone of what could be deemed as scolding, as she glowed with approval. "And you get to see Lana, yes? I hear that she took up the Breeder program too... Pretty fitting, don't you think? Since she seems very interested in taking over the facility in the future." Raiza thought of how she hadn't actually seen Lana at school till that field trip to see the dragons and forced a half-grin. "Yeah, it's been great! S'pretty nice having her around, with all these weird new people," she said. It was true. The first time she'd actually held a conversation with somebody since she entered school was when she met Henry in the cafeteria. "Aren't we... going to meet dad outsiiiiide?" she asked her mother, after the sudden short silence. "Yes, well--" Cue a pop and a flash of light materializing into a Litwick. "Lucifer!" cried both mother and daughter. In response, the Ghost-Fire type took a look at the source of the familiar voice and zipped around her, curiously. "Hi there, sweetheart!" crooned the older blue-haired woman. What a nostalgic scent. "Baby, this is Mom. Don't tell me you've forgotten her?" Raiza's voice came, jokingly-- but he could tell apart the slight tone of concern underneath it. Now that she mentioned it, yes... Yes, this woman was his Trainer's mother. That meant... The Ghost-Fire type whirled around, circling the woman-- Narcissa-- as though looking for something. And before either of the two could say anything, he bolted off, phasing through the doors. "Luci-- hey!" Raiza shouted. "What's gotten into him?" her mother asked. The Trainer shook her head-- maybe he was looking for his own mother Chandelure? "Uh, sorry, Mareek, but I've got to-- yeah, you know," she said hurriedly, bolting after her mother who'd gone ahead and run after the Litwick.

Raiza caught his eye and gave him a look that either screamed one or all of several things at once: "Help me", "Save yourself", "This is one miserable situation I'm in", or "I'm about to not-really-cry-but-close-to-it and you'd-better-not-not-let-me-hear-the-end-of-it". Whatever she was trying to convey-- if any at all-- the girl just looked outright unhappy with the current situation. "Ah, it's wonderful to know that our dear Lana's making friends. She's a very, very sweet and shy girl, you know, not very talkative. But she's very strong inside too-- kind of like a pretty Roselia, right, Raiza--" "Mom pls--" "beautiful and graceful on the outside, with all that inner strength on the inside! Quite ironic, given how she loves the Ground types much like her parents. Speaking of which, honey, have you seen Mr. and Mrs. Everhart?" Her daughter managed to shake her head. "No? I was hoping to see them... Oh well." Just when she finally released Raiza from her unintentionally strong embrace, she then turned on the real heat (in Raiza's perspective anyway). "But how could I forget to ask how you're doing, honey? Your father and I saw your last battle and it was beautiful, darling! Magnifico! That Sneasel of yours danced beautifully-- she must've been well-bred and definitely well-raised! You've surely shown them what a powerful punch a Breeder can pack! Don't you think so too, Mareek?" The girl seemed to cringe at the mention of Breeder. Like mother, like daughter-- or in this case, the other way around, Narcissa didn't seem to notice. Right now, she had her attention turned to the boy again, both as though being both amiable and, at the same time, daring him to disagree with her. It seemed that the Marsons-- or at least, Raiza's mother, so far, anyway-- took much pride in their occupation and vocation. Their daughter, their unica hija? She just looked at her fellow Trainer almost apologetically.

A Collection of Baubles [CW][Poem]
Zephyrus the Priestess replied to Zephyrus the Priestess's topic in Creative Works
"Untitled. #40515.357" (Alternate Titles: "An Attempt At Spoken Word Poetry", "How to Feel", "What Feels Am I Supposed to Feel", "Holy Shit This is a Super Long Poem") I don't know what love feels like. Or what it should feel like, for that matter. The latter is confusing-- you just feel emotions rushing smattering, splattering, spattering Shattering your thoughts and convictions. You think that that high is what love feels like But that kind of dies out eventually like Wavelengths. Wavelengths with their highs and lows. You can't always synchronize your heart and mind And never mind the thoughts you block out, deeming them as Destructive, nonsensical, disruptive When, really, they're just feelings. Spurs of the moment. All I know is that to love is not as easy as the world lies. Even then it's something that I long to learn. But you can't just synchronize your heart and mind And never mind the spikes in your feelings especially when-- When that one person makes you smile And want to cry all at once. There's almost no order. Chaos. Ordered chaos; Chaotic order. No borders that help you differentiate how you really, truly feel. Is it love, or just a spur of the moment? Does it help if I know I want to spend time with that person? And yet when I've got the chance I can't synchronize my Heart, mind, and my mouth I'm rendered speechless. Everything I thought of to say earlier-- Gone. Just like my thoughts and convictions. Is it love or just a spur of the moment every time I leap when I see you around? And is it still love if I do love you, but at arm's length Because I don't deserve you, I know it's too soon, I'm too immature And I'm hoping that a poem, a poem that's Destructive, nonsensical, disruptive As unorganized as my thoughts and convictions and feelings Can shed light on what love is, on what it truly feels like A poem that you may or may not read A poem that you may or may not talk to me about A poem I write as you sleep peacefully-- and what right have I To drag you into my discordant, disarrayed disorganized dilemma When you're-- You're Free. Busy. Being the blessing that you can't see you are. While I'm here, selfish, immature, fresh with wounds, and undeserving Of you. Of anything beautiful. Of knowing what love truly is Or what it feels like. I can't forgive myself. Who's to say that you will? And yet you cause Spikes in my emotions. Telling me that I am loved. By you, no less. I'm rendered speechless. But I can't touch you, for you're At arm's length and more And I'm here, unable to synchronize my heart and mind Never to know or understand what love truly is and how it should really feel If love's in those spikes in my emotions, In this poem you may or may not read or speak to me about, In the highs and lows that may or may not die out when You tell me that you love me-- jokingly or not jokingly Platonically or not platonically Truly or not truly-- When you make me smile, make my heart ache, and my mind crash. For all I know I'm the only one feeling these things. But maybe then I don't care if I'll never know what love truly is or what it should feel like For there's beauty in being with you just like this-- Both beauty and pain at loving you at arm's length and more At wondering if this poem you will or will not ignore At waiting, apprehensively, for the end that approaches inevitably No matter how many times I wish it won't come. But know that I love you dearly and am grateful, from the bottom of my heart To the top of my mind Even if I am Speechless. -

"Y--" "BABY!" Cue mother running to said baby, a glomp-tackle-esque hug, and the sound of air rushing out of Raiza's gut and mouth. "H-Hi, mom." Bright amber eyes turned towards Mareek. "Oh, hello there! Are you a friend of Raiza's, dear?" "We kinda just talked now, so we aren't really close, but yeah I guess," Raiza managed to utter, wrapped in Narcissa Marson's tight, motherly embrace. "His name is Mareek... And, Mareek, this is my mum. And dad is--?" "Oh, he went to go get some food, figured you'd be hungry after your battle. I said we'd meet outside in the hall when he was done, but would you rather meet him here?" "I-It's okay, we can go outside. I just got Rogue healed, and was waiting for Lana with Mareek here." There was a certain look of painful discomfort on the girl's face. She didn't really like getting attention from her parents, much less want to let anybody know that she was masquerading as a Breeder for her parents. For all she knew, some idiot would interfere and go all "But I thought you were in the Trainer program?" and blow it for her. Unfortunately, her mother seemed to have taken an interest in her daughter's new friend. Addressing the redhead, she asked, "You know dear Lana, too? She and Raiza grew up together, you know. They were so cute to watch--" "Mom pls--" "but there's a different time and place for stories and baby pictures."

Done deal. "Tell 'em about what?" Raiza asked in reply, shrugging. "In all seriousness though, yeah, I got you." Then the doors opened. A slim woman with dark-blue hair tied into a ponytail walked in, looking around. "Raiza, honey?" The girl in question, stiffened visibly next to Mareek.

"... That makes sense. In the first place, self-defense on the streets doesn't work like a martial arts tournament. The mugger's not going to drop his knife or whatever and get into a fighting stance and stick to kicking," Raiza snorted, and rolled her eyes. "People who think they're hot stuff just like that're stupid. I mean, personally, I think it's super fun throwing kicks-- just being in motion, basically-- but I'm kinda glad that I've never had to use what I've learned. Plus, I've always had Lucifer with me." The Trainer's eyes lit up as she said the last part. "... By the way, that's a pretty nifty Kubotan. My parents never did allow me to keep stuff like that."

"Ah, so I'm guessing you've never really had to apply what you've learned in real life," Raiza asked, genuinely fascinated. Mareek's sensei's teachings contrasted what she'd learned from her coach.

"... Hey. That's like, the movie Karate Kid and stuff." What if Mareek's sensei's the same guy as the one in the movie...? Making a mental note to bring that up later, Raiza nodded and said, "I kinda wish we had that kind of training. Developing muscle memory by doing chores seems more efficient than... Holding planks for two minutes, for example. Ymora needs a better martial arts centre. Have you ever fought in competitions before?" she added the last part after a slight pause.

Two brown eyes widened, becoming like big round chocolate bonbons. Or truffles. They were both tasty anyway, so it didn't matter. Now martial arts was something that Raiza appreciated greatly. "Oh, cool, so kung-fu, then? I took up mixed martial arts myself. Boy, warm-ups were fun. A hundred and fifty squats straight followed by other drills and conditioning steps... But practicing and throwing punches and kicks were super fun."

Predict the Next Person to Post
Zephyrus the Priestess replied to Gyaradoskiller's topic in Onyx Arcade
lol hi Shing -
I don't know man, I just went with What Would Zeph Do especially since Raiza's personality is kinda based off of mine. Now I'm just hoping it works well enough. XD

"Oh. I kinda... just assumed that you had some kinda training of some sort. I mean, the nurse'd barely even touched you, but you managed to grab her like--" she made a quick flicking motion with her hand-- "and you look like you've got a strong grip too. At least, martial arts, if you're not a ninja, then?"

WHY I HATE SNEEZING (A gripe/pet peeves thread)
Zephyrus the Priestess replied to Ghost's topic in General Discussion
we need a support group including all of us who have issues with cars, people, loud noises, and stuff or y'know like a riot group to overthrow those things we hate -
... This was getting way too awkward. In hindsight, she could always leave. Nobody was telling her to stay anyway. Also, that reflex and ferocity. If she didn't know any better, she would've accused Mareek of secretly being a cross between a Ninja and Fighter class. I don't know whether to be glad that Lana's got a friend up high in the Agi's and Strength stats. That's super cool and all, but... A little scary. I mean I know some martial arts and stuff but... Maybe I could get him to teach me stuff? Maybe he knows how to climb walls. "... Hey Mareek, are you like, a ninja or something?" she tried. Uncertainly, she added, "... I swear I won't tell. I won't spoil your secret identity."
