  1. Just incase anyone else looks at this thread, I just wanna put it out there that Starly can be hatched from this egg as well.
  2. http://www.pokemonreborn.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=6802 Check this thread under "Gen 5"
  3. Okay, added Lapras but since we're both pretty apprehensive about Qwilfish for A rank, I'm gonna wait for a bit and think about it or wait until someone else gives some input for it. Thanks for Lapras tho
  4. Awesome as, thanks Vinny u da bes Also to everyone else following the thread currently, the new Ice analysis' and LeafAlcor's Ground suggestion has been added, sorry for the hold up! As well as that, I'm working on a Bug team in game at the moment and I've got a few additions I'll be making soon. Edit: Expect a complete trashing of Spinarak/Ariados for both Bug and Poison; thing is complete garbage, never have I used a worse Pokemon. A Pokemon that gets no good STAB, literally Poison Sting/Leech Life is what you live off of until Level 40ish when it gets Pin Missile and can't even take half of Julia's Voltorbs health with any of its moves is a Pokemon you shouldn't be using in any circumstance. Anyway I'll save my ranting for the analysis haha
  5. I kinda disagree with Crobat being A for Flying so I'm gonna rank him as B since as you said Flying gets Archeops for Charlotte and Crobat doesn't have a very stellar move set and attacking stats which I'd consider to be a minor shortcoming. Initially I disagreed with Charizard but Flying gets nothing else for Steel since Cheeky Landos Landorus isn't in game neither is Talonflame, Moltres or Gliscor. Turns out Calm mind isn't in game, I'll just remove that from your analysis'. I'll add every other aspect though, thanks again for some super solid analysis especially acknowledging that Ghost is monstrously strong in Trick room. Awesome, some great analysis for a type that not many people dared to take on, I really appreciate it and I'm sure every aspiring Mono Ice runner will too! I'll add these changes as soon as I can since the OP has hit its character limit. tfw I was told it would but didn't listen halp
  6. Sure thing friendo, but Gengar was taken out in Episode 15 was it not? Also, it doesn't matter if a Pokemon's done for one type as it may be better for another such as how in competitive Pokemon Water would appreciate Lanturn more than Electric would due to Lanturn having Volt Absorb/Heal Bell as Electric mightn't need it as much due to it being another Weakness to Ground, being outclassed by Rotom-W in handling Ground types and not needing Volt Absorb as a type.
  7. Awesome as, can't wait for those analysis; I really appreciate it! Oh also to anyone else who's following this thread, I will be starting a Mono run of Bug since I just finished Poison last night. When I do bug I'll put in some more useful stuff, not just what's good but what's not at all.
  8. Awesome as, thanks a ton although Aqua Jet can be bred on to Crawdaunt as well so you may wanna edit your comment or something; but I still agree even without it it's still S because of the fact it can just blatantly rip holes in things.
  9. To be honest, OHKOing Swellow with a +2 STAB move is nothing special; Swellow basically has no defenses. S rank implies that this Pokemon is unparalleled and should be chosen over any other Pokemon on its type except for other S-Ranks. We don't have any S-Ranks yet but Torterra doesn't scream S to me although it could help slightly with a Water weakness. Keep in mind that the definition for S tier is: Personally I think Torterra does it's job pretty well, but it only has one job and I don't think that it does it EXCEPTIONALLY well such as how after 2 bulk ups Blaziken can run down an entire team, or how Greninja on Dark can beat most Fighting types using Extrasensory/Shadow Sneak. Edit: Also, this is a ground monotype team we're talking about; it's more than likely that the user could have Curse Steelix to deal with stuff like Weavile and Mamoswine that Torterra couldn't. Minus the leech seed part, Steelix out classes Torterra as a curse tank due to its crazy physical bulk and neutrality to ice. Awesome as, thanks for contributing again! Changes added fam, thanks for some more input on Water; I appreciate it!
  10. Awesome, do let me know when you've completed your Rotom analysis, I'd love to hear it. Also, thank you for your Electric mono analysis, hopefully you'll be able to give us a few more!
  11. Thing is, that in this point of the game Rock Monotype is extremely limited, so the Pokemon you get from Shelly to Shade (Credit to this thread: http://www.pokemonreborn.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=14182) only include Lunatone and Solrock which may be useful later on but against Shade will more than likely be a liability. If you're really looking for another Pokemon to use in the meanwhile as a filler or something I'd recommend Onix just for the sake of it being there if anything since Onix is horrible. What I think you should do is evolve Anorith and common candy it down from 40 so it obeys you against Shade. Good news is after you beat Shade, you get a bunch of new Pokemon available to you such as Binacle, Shuckle, Slugma, Nosepass and Corsola. Against Shade himself though, I'd recommend leading with Sudowoodo in order to OHKO his Gengar with Sucker Punch and after that get your Stealth Rock up from Golem ASAP since Shade uses a Chandelure. Anyway, hope this helps man; good luck with your run!
  12. I'm inclined to disagree with D ranking for Skuntank for the sole reason that it naturally learns Flamethrower upon evolution and that Poison doesn't have many other options for Fern's Ferrothorn/Ferroseed until it becomes a TM for the Nidos or until you get Hidden Power, otherwise I agree completely. I'm gonna put Skuntank in C for that sole reason. No problem about disagreements, this thread should double as a forum in which people can voice their opinons on Pokemon in Monotype so it's all good. Thanks for another few solid analysis'! I appreciate it. Edit: Also, I checked on the hunt and from what it says there presently, Life orb is not available to the player as a usable item. (I saw like at least 4 Life orbs being used by the AI in Ep 15 tho, they're everywhere now)
  13. Hitting everything for neutral damage and hitting more Pokemon for Super Effective damage are two VERY different things. Maybe it's not crippling but it has its full potential limited by the lack of Tutors/TMs. It's not S rank material, it's just plain not good enough without set up, you also keep mentioning Life Orb Toxicroak, why does that even matter Life Orb's not available in the game? I've used Toxicroak too though, in both Reborn AND Rejuvenation. In Rejuvenation it has Bulk up and it's significantly better when it's able to actually boost its attack stat as opposed to Reborn where it has no set up. Lastly, there's no major NPCs aside from Luna currently in which Fighting STAB would make a major difference in victory and even then you can use Venomoth and stuff like Moonblast Vileplume for her. I wouldn't be this opposed to it being S Tier unless I'd used it and was fairly certain that it didn't fit the bill.
  14. Yeah I've been thinking about Toxicroak and I'm still unsure as to whether it really does merit S which is why I haven't posted it yet; not because of the fact I fully disagree with your opinion but rather that I believe that a Water immunity isn't exactly what Poison needs and Toxicroak has a cripplingly small Movepool without Tutors and relevant TMs. Since S tier heavily insinuates that these Pokemon are perfect or have little to no draw backs, I'm not 100% sure that Toxicroak deserves it since it lacks Bulk Up/Swords Dance, Ice Punch, Rock Slide/Stone Edge. I've added it as A, and if it gets any of those a fore mentioned moves then I'll jump it to S. As for Garbodor, I've added your analysis for it too; thanks!
  15. Those were some awesome analysis', thank you! I decided to make Liepard B rank due to it being one of the few Pokemon Dark can use to beat those "impossible" boss battles. Not too sure about Torterra being S for Ground since it literally dies from Powder Snow, but the ability to handle Water types, having pretty decent bulk and setting up with curse whilst draining with Leech seed definitely makes him a high ranking Pokemon in Reborn imo. Still solid Analysis, thank you!
  16. Camerupt on a Ground Monotype is a VERY different story than for Fire. Being able to handle Grass and Ice types is a definite plus. If you submit a full analysis of it including Moves, Ability and why it should be A Rank or whatever you think it should be and I'll add it to the OP and credit you fully. Good point, it's a very useful Physical Wall. I'll add it to A for Grass.
  17. Hmmm, I get your point but I think it's the analysis themselves which matter the most, don't you think? I'm sure the other 3-4 posts after the OP won't greatly affect the point of the thread. I would create a separate thread but I kinda want everything to be in one place so people don't have to go looking for where to suggest sets/Pokemon and where the actual rankings are; even with links people can be pretty lazy haha though I do appreciate your concern! As for your Dark Mono run, I'd love to hear about which Pokemon you think work best and what don't and why~ Okay, I added everything you've analyzed thus far. One change I made was to put Empoleon in D due to the fact I can't think of a singular circumstance I'd ever want to use it on a Reborn in game Water Mono without Scald, Toxic, Roar, Ice Beam or Defog. Thanks for your efforts!
  18. Camerupt's non existent speed and poor typing make it an unwise choice if you already have a big weakness to Water and offers nothing aside from Earth Power that Typhlosion doesn't (E R U P T I O N S P A M B O I S). Camerupt's typing alone drops him down to C rank at best although he can be used as a niche tank of sorts and as a Pokemon that can handle rock types using Earth Power, but even then he's out classed in that role too by Fire/Fighting types like Blaziken or Infernape. If you can write a proper analysis for Camerupt I'll give him a look in a few hours and put it up. tl;dr Due to glaring Weaknesses, poor speed and average at best bulk, Camerupt isn't even close to being S Rank
  19. Cool, I think you make some decent points but due to its Special stat and the need to set up with Charge Beam I'm gonna rate Meowstic Female B because of its lackluster Special Attack and non existent bulk. Thanks! I agree with the Fighting STAB part, that's true; Poison does appreciate Drain Punch in a mono run for Steel/Rock types and for coverage. However I really don't think that Poison particularly needs a Water immunity. For instance, Poison has Venusaur, Vileplume and Dragalge in Reborn, all of which completely laugh off any Water attacks on either attacking spectrum. (Phys/Special) Gonna have to agree to disagree with you on S rank, I think Drapion can function just fine if not better as a Physical attacker for Poison in Reborn due to Hone Claws, any of the Fangs as coverage and knock off utility if you choose to use it. Another thing about Toxicroak is that it can't learn Ice Punch without Tutor or Earthquake without TM so until it either gets set up in Bulk Up/Swords dance or more coverage made available to him, that's what will hold him back from being a top ranking Poison type threat. Gonna list Toxicroak as A Rank.
  20. Fair call there, I'll change that then. Although Toxicroak is really good, I think the lack of Bulk up/SD would keep it out of S but that's just me. I'll take another read of it tomorrow but I think it should be A until Bulk Up/Swords Dance.
  21. Sorry for the confusion, just editted the OP to reflect that this is currently Episode 14 only. I'll bet that Meowstic-Female can be a really good sweeper but I'm not sure what I should rank it, maybe if you give a slightly more detailed analysis I can take a stab at it? (Moves, Ability, how it's used, how it helps its team etc). I'll give Meowstic-Male A Tier since due to prankster it can always set Misty Terrain or a Screen which as you said yourself can be pretty helpful against the boss Pokemon in this game. I like the way you think, ranking it for its usefulness early game; yeah I think that'll work. I'll write that down in its analysis section. Thanks~
  22. MAJOR EDIT: Gourgeist doesn't get Will O Wisp since no TM, gonna drop him to A since it still gets Pain Split. Gonna give Ludicolo A because he's really good but not incredible. And as for Roserade, I've used one and I wholeheartedly agree; S it is. Edit again: Roserade doesn't get Sludge Bomb since no TM, but I don't think it needs Sludge Bomb to be S since Hidden Power hits at 90 and Extrasensory can be bred on with the addition of Shadow Ball to up its coverage.
  23. The A ranking states that it has a shortcoming, I wouldn't call having one move that's walled by 6 types a shortcoming, it's more of a crippling draw back. If it had Earth Power and Flamethrower available to it, I'd change my mind but imo it's no better than B rank at best. Awesome as, I agree with all of those! I was gonna do Dragalge myself but you pretty much wrapped up everything I had in mind aside from running Toxic on it so I'll just add that to your analysis. I kinda disagree with Charizard being A-Rank since no Solarbeam, I'm gonna list this as B rank until Solarbeam is released.
  24. PSA: This topic has been turned into the DISCUSSION topic for the new "Project Reborn Monotype Viability Rankings" topic. So, keep the discussion here. The other topic is where the list will be located now. Thank you all for understanding. - Vinny Hello, friends! Whilst playing Reborn with a bunch of my friends over at the Sora League on Pokemon Showdown, some of us decided it would be a good idea for us to do monotype run-throughs. And of course it has been both a challenge AND a heap of fun. Because of my new found love for Monotype running through Pokemon games, I thought it would be a fun idea to do a form of Viability ranking for the Pokemon on each Monotype in Pokemon Reborn! Since I did a run through of Poison, I'll do as much for Poison as I can and of course I will be accepting suggestions for any other Pokemon from any type. As this thread progresses I will more than likely rank Monotypes in Reborn as an entirety to help any aspiring Mono runners for Reborn. This will be mainly community driven and contributed since I won't be able to every single Pokemon for every single type myself, hell I'll be lucky to get all of Poison done myself haha, so I'll need as much help as I can get! If you are at any point wondering where to catch any of these wonderful Pokemon, you can check out this thread Monotype Pokemon Availability Guide for information on how to obtain them! Please note that this is NOT a Canon Pokemon Game Monotype analysis/ranking, if you wish to see a Canon Competitive Pokemon Game Monotype viability ranking, please visit Smogon University's forums. Edit: Due to a few people commenting about it, these rankings will be incorporating mechanics from Episode 15 and 15 alone; this means no breeding from previous Episodes like 12 where breeding partners for certain Pokemon hadn't been taken out. Also, before you all ask, no I don't expect everyone's Pokemon reviews to be as indepth as mine although it'd definitely be appreciated, I just enjoy getting very technical and indepth with my reviews of Pokemon. Anyone who does submit a review successfully will of course be fully credited! Also please remember that all of these placements and are contestable, with the right amount of evidence, I can be convinced to change a Pokemon's placement based on whether you think it's too good/bad for a certain rank. All Pokemon listed which are of the same type/rank are not listed in any order, for example: if both Blaziken and Ninetales are listed for S Tier Fire but Blaziken comes first on the list, that doesn't inherently make Blaziken a more viable Pokemon. The meaning of each Rank is as follows: S Rank: These Pokemon are unparalleled on a team; bordering on broken-ness for their type, being able to preform whatever role it is the Pokemon is meant to preform with almost 0 downside whether it be Offensively or Defensively. These Pokemon need no support or very little in order for them to slot into your team and can fulfill a ton of roles for your team or one exceptionally well whilst even providing some utility themselves. Comparatively to other Pokemon on their type, there is no other Pokemon which should be used over it. When playing, these Pokemon should definitely be used. A Rank: These Pokemon may have qualities similar to S Tier Pokemon but require more support from their team mates due to short comings in stats, abilities, secondary typing or movepool but still have very good offensive or defensive utility. More often than not, these Pokemon should always be considered. B Rank: These Pokemon have a few shortcomings which make them not as good as Pokemon from the previous tiers, this means that it may take a turn or two and/or some support from other Pokemon in your party in order for them to truely shine, whilst not bad these Pokemon have flaws which may be problematic for some circumstances. C Rank: These Pokemon have flaws which make them not as good as Pokemon from the other tiers above, this may be due to an unfortunate ability, secondary typing, speed/attack stat or movepool. These Pokemon may or may not have a useful niche which can work in a certain circumstance and can offer some useful utility to your team but sacrifices a slot on your team. D Rank: These Pokemon in most circumstances are a waste of a Team Slot and are completely outclassed by another Pokemon in its type or are inexplicably crippled by the lack of moves available to it in Reborn. These Pokemon should seldom be considered for a spot on your team. E Rank: Complete trash, never useful in any circumstance in which it is legally obtainable and constantly outclassed in every fashion. Do not use. To suggest a Pokemon for a specific Rank, just comment on this thread or PM me a review of a specific Pokemon which looks something like this: Ninetales (Fire) for S Rank If you wish to reserve a certain Pokemon for a certain type, please comment on this thread or message me personally and I'll add your choice to the list of reserved Pokemon. Current release: Episode 15
  25. See normally I'd agree with you and disregard what I said. But the fact that Shedinja can outright walls many of Rejuvenation's Leaders who focus mainly on T-Wave crippling and Hyper Offense with STAB and basic coverage I think is amazing. Awesome as, glad to see myself and my friend aren't the only ones who realize Shedinja is amazing in story based games like Rejuvenation. Games like this go to prove that just because it's ranked PU on Smogon, doesn't mean it's bad in storyline.
