  1. @arision1 What other pokemon do you have in the PC (if any?) EDIT: For starters, would it help if you leveled up your Grimer to match the levels of your other pokemon?
  2. Thanks for the advice! I was also wondering: what is the earliest time I could get a metal coat + link stone to get Steelix? I'm also having a slight trouble with Shelly and the dual battle, I'm trying to train Onix to level 34 so that he learns rock slide, which SHOULD make the battle a breeze, considering for some reason Onix has a really high speed stat. ( and 26 IVs in attack and SP attack, which are also high for some reason)
  3. Herp a Derp, didnt even notice that...... *whispers* Go back and catch another one, and make sure its female...
  4. Level up the Burmy with Trash Coat, so that it evolves into a bug/steel type. It is amazing at taking out the PULSE tangrowths, considering it also learns confusion pretty early after evolving. PULSE tangrowths typically know: acid spray, growth, vine whip, mega drain. Due to the Bug/Steel typing, it makes acid spray ineffective, and vine whip / mega drain have 1/4 effectiveness. It's been a lifesaver on my Steel Monotype run
  5. Woops! My bad! I should've remembered that >.< Very valid point though, a ground/rock type would be able to beat ice, so instead of having an ice TYPE pokemon, get a pokemon of a different type with an ice move, if possible (Like how on my main game, my Gyarados knows Ice Fang)
  6. Having a Pokemon on rotation would be good, just make sure to keep it leveled up. Remember that Ice also beats rock, so it would be worthwhile to use it against any rock types you're having trouble against As for the type coverage, I'm doing a Steel Monotype run-through, and I've covered pretty much every type, although I didn't cover ghost. Hopefully I can slap a dark move on one of my pokemon before I reach any difficult ghost types, but probably not.
  7. You dont really need a fairy type, Ice is much more effective against dragon, and either way a lot of pokemon in pokemon reborn (and pokemon in general) are dual type, so you dont need every single type covered, you can leave 1-2 uncovered usually, and then just beat the opponent through strategy and dual typing.
  8. I heard flying type for the 2nd gym, and I immediately thought:
  9. So, I never took the time to notice that the Burmy I caught was male, and NOT female..... FML, MOTHIM Y U DO DIS. Time to go back and catch another I guess, but this is a pristine way to waste a good hour or two grinding it back up. Thanks for the advice, I just usually like to have all of my types covered =P. I guess I could rely on dual typing and a bit of brute force to get me through any times where I need dark/steel type moves EDIT: I had a question, the Hiker in question to get the onyx; you said he was by the station, I assumed train station. Is this the Hiker in question? http://gyazo.com/40cac79686103e7aadb2be1bf6023154 all that he says is this: http://gyazo.com/0e966aa61f1d9e5c647383aa49ff93bf which makes me think I'm at the wrong hiker EDIT EDIT: Figured it out. Turns out I'm just as stupid as I thought, right hiker, I just wasn't exploring enough.
  10. I actually have a Pinecone, Brumy, and Prinplup right now, so I should have Forretress. I would guess you could get a Onyx from the Tenzing Cave, but how would you trade it with a metal coat to make it Steelix? Link Stone while holding Metal Coat?
  11. After reviewing, I would need to have one (or multiple) know a Dark/Ghost type move, so I can cover the Ghost type, and an Ice/Dragon/Fairy type move to cover the Dragon type. Empoleon can learn Ice beam through TM, but I can't remember if it is obtainable. IMHO I think the best thing to do is just play the game out, and wing it as I go along, planning all day isn't very fun. Thanks for the help!
  12. I like it, except for the fact that Durant and Excadrill are both Bug/Steel types. Would it be worthwhile to switch out one of them for a Bisharp, so I have a Steel/Dark, so that I have the Dark moves to counter Ghost pokemon? EDIT: Nevermind, misread Excadrill as Escavalier, looks good now xD
  13. OK; I'll try the burmy and piplup combo, but what steel types would you recommend after that? I know you can get aron if you have headbutt, and Beldum once you are able to ride a tauros, but that is pretty late in the game to still be putting together a team. But hey, you dont get lucario until after you beat the Ice guy (forgot his name, episode 14 boss) --- Obtainable Steel Types: ( A list for myself, and any other people wanting to do a steel runthrough) Magenmite - Steel / Electric Steelix - Steel / Ground Foretress - Steel / Bug Klink - Steel Mawile - Steel / Fairy Aron - Steel / Rock Beldum - Steel / Psychic Bronzor - Steel / Psychic Shieldon - Steel / Rock Wormadam (trash) - Steel / Bug Lucario - Steel / Fighting Probopass - Steel / Rock Drilbur - Steel / Ground (when evolved) Escavelier - Steel / Bug Pawniard - Steel / Dark Durant - Steel / Bug Not a lot of options....
  14. I would like to start a new game, and I was wondering if a Steel Monotype would be possible to do? I am willing to catch any pokemon that evolves INTO a steel type, such as starting with a piplup (water) for an empoleon (water/steel) My main question is: Is there enough Steel type options early game for the game to be semi-possible?
  15. See, I dont want to breed for perfect pokemon though, that would make it too easy, I like the challenge rather than the grind. I ended up beating charlotte using my whole team xD, last one alive was alakazam. My team is as follows: Gigalith level 66: Rock Blast Rock Slide Strength Mud Slap Arcanine level 66: Heat Wave Flare Blitz Crunch Rock Smash Gyarados level 68: Ice Fang Bite Aqua Tail Strength Sceptile level 66 Leaf Blade Cut Pursuit Quick Attack (He needs some reforming on his moves ;-; ) Scrafty level 68 High Jump Kick Low Kick Crunch Headbutt Alakazam level 67 Psychic Trick Miracle Eye Recover Wasn't extremely hard, did take a few tries though Still waiting for an end game Mewtwo. Still waiting for a PULSE Mewtwo I like Mewtwo
  16. Lets see? Gyms we've had so far Electric Grass Poison Bug Dark Ghost Fighting Ice Psychic Take the starting letters of each: P I F G D B P G E. Take alpha-numerical values: 16, 9, 6, 7, 4, 2, 16, 7, 5. Add them together: 72. Add 4 for the 4 playable characters : 76. Divide by two for each previous town we've visited (reborn and the town after the forest, name escapes me): 38 Next gym type?: FIRE F=6 I=9 R=18 E=5 6+9=15 15+5=20 20+18 = 38. 38 = 38 FIRE TYPE GYM CONFIRMED
  17. Once you get past the guard that looks up and down you're home free to move onto the next room. Again, don't forget to read the books!!!!!!!! and write the numbers down!!!!
  18. I sat there and looked for the entrance to the valley for an hour and a half, it was horribly frustrating, and made me feel stupid. I accidentally skipped Luna's dialogue, so I was completely lost. EDIT: I was kinda nervous how you guys described the puzzle as hard and challenging, but I actually found it remarkably easy, just time consuming.
  19. Even though it is a legendary, Mewtwo hooked to a PULSE machine could be bad. Think of the power-hungry pokemon Mewtwo is, with the ability to stay in his pulse and levitate the PULSE to move himself. IT COULD CAUSE WORLD DEVASTATION. On a more serious note: Step 1: Hook up a Pokemon with Earthquake to the PULSE machine, and amplify the quakes to shake the city to the ground. Step 2: Hook up a Porygon with Recycle to the PULSE, and make him recycle the rubble ( and dead people ) back into the enviroment, clearing the land and restoring the natural area of reborn. Step 3: Hook up an owned Alakazam (so it will listen, unlike abra) to the pulse machine, and use his psychic powers to detect all the survivors, and teleport them to us, where they can be easily outnumbered and dealt with. Step 4: Dig back down to the door, (you would have found the 4 keys once you grabbed all the survivors, or when porygon was recycling) and open the door to obtain the power inside. Step 5: Use power to build a new civilization, where the most worthy and honorable rules, with the people having the ability to overthrow and re-elect a new ruler. Step 6: Rule. Step 7: Pokemon start to return to the land, the natural enviroment having been restored. Step 8: Set up a fundamental system of only allowing people to have certain pokemon, thus preventing anybody from becoming strong enough to challenge your rule. Step 9: Basically a series of events happens to rebuild "Reborn" under a different name. You hide the power in a greedy attempt to stop anyone else from ruling. A new team "x" arises to challenge your power, and you seal it away, splitting the gemstone key into 4 pieces and scattering the remnants. Random villagers find them and pass them down in their family, and the process indefinitely repeats. Step 10: THERE IS NO STEP 10.
