  1. Quick question I had (somewhat) relating to this, is breeding influenced by held items like it is in the main series games? Like giving a female an Everstone to transfer Nature, or the Power items to transfer IVs? (though I don't know if the Power items are in-game yet or ever will be)

Or has nobody tried that stuff yet?

  2. I suppose I may have just been.... unlucky(?) with Budew-- not really unlucky, since I didnt want the ability, but yeah. I guess it's possible that I didn't see it in 25~30 ish captures, just very unlikely. Not that I want that ability in any way shape or form whatsoever, I just thought it was weird that I didn't see it. I'll probably check back sometime, though, and catch more to see.

  3. While I never thought of it that way, I do see two issues with thinking they mightn't do anything with older Pokemon because the regions are separate.

The first being they are a business and any good business tries to make their product make as many people as happy as possible. Many want pre/evolutions, so as a business they'd be remiss to not do so (a second time in a row at least).

The second, coming at it from a story and environmental point of view, many animals have been introduced to new areas (intentionally or not) and can and will change the environment, and be changed to suit the environment as natural selection is wont to do. So they can be easily explained as simply, for all intents and purposes, forcing a change to the Pokemon by changing it's environment.

I was actually talking just about the connection between Gen 5 and 6. Remember back in GSC, when you were just starting out, but you saw familiar faces such as Pidgey and Rattata and Spearow? It felt like Johto and Kanto were linked (because they were...) and thus we got a sort of mixing of the Pokemon in both regions. Gen 5, however, felt like a completely fresh start, and seemed to be more of a stand-alone game than the others. It was the first time you couldn't throw out your rod and find a Magikarp to train. Since BW were the first games like that (no previous gen Pokes), and also the first games in a region based outside of Asia, my mind put two and two together.

So yeah, I don't think Gen 5 and 6 will be intermingled like Gen 1 and 2 were. As to whether they will make any new evolutions/babies at all, I am still somewhat doubtful, though it is plausible. I do recall seeing a statue of Roselia in one of the XY trailers, so who knows. I just feel they are going in the same sort of direction as BW/B2W2-- the first games completely stand-alone, and the sequel containing more Pokes from other regions to appeal to fans. We will certainly see, though... I would love to be wrong.

Edit- actually, forget what I said about Gen 6 being stand-alone, I forgot about Sylveon. Idek anymore.

  4. I've been meaning to ask something for a little while, and this thread is somewhat relevant to it, so I'll go ahead. Are ALL pokemon supposed to have access to their dream world abilities? When I reset around 100~ times for my Scraggy, I saw an even amount of Shed Skin and Moxie, but no Intimidate. Which sucked, because Moxie is bugged so I wanted Intimidate.

If I remember correctly, Abra only had access to Inner Focus and Synchronize as well; I don't recall seeing Magic Guard a single time in 50~ resets.

Is this a problem with PE, or maybe something Ame can change? Not sure how much control she has with that stuff. Or maybe my game is bugged somehow?

Edit- also no Leaf Guard on Budew; I'm sure there are others as well

  5. So yeah, im trying to level Aron to have him get Heavy Slam at level 43. question though, will Aron's stat's change when he evolves to Lairon and Aggron after? like i tried doing it with Ninetails from vulpix who reached lvl 40 and some of the stats changed.. i just want to confirm this though just to make sure.

If I am correct, you are asking whether you will lose out on stats by waiting to evolve Aron, right? The short answer is no, you will not lose out on stats.

The long answer involves an extremely complicated explanation of IVs (Individual Values) and EVs (Effort Values) that I guess I can sum up in a few quick sentences. IVs are basically numbers (from 0 to 31) your Pokemon is born/caught with that determine how good it is in each of the 6 stats (no matter what evolution stage, these don't change). EVs are earned by battling Pokemon in the wild or used by trainers, and over time they add up to increase your stats in certain areas. Like for example, killing a Gastly will net you 1 Sp. Atk EV. Anyway, you don't lose these when evolving either, and they are factored in with the stat increase of your evolution. All Pokemon have changes to their Base Stats when they evolves, which are separate from IVs/EVs, and are specific to the species of Pokemon. Whew.

If that's not what you meant to ask, then I apologize. :]

  6. I always thought Pinsir and Jynx were a bit left out, seeing as how their counterparts got evolutions (though Jynx did get a baby like the others) but they were left untouched. I can't really imagine what Jynx would evolve into, but Jynx itself is definitely not overpowered in terms of stats or usability at the moment. It might even become a ghost/ice typing or something. Pinsir is pretty much the same when it comes to stats and movesets-- very underwhelming. At least compared to its brother's evolution, Scizor. If Pinsir got a cool evolution that was actually viable, that would be awesome.

In reality, though, I doubt they will touch anything from Gen 1. I would like to think that they do major evolution line upgrades every other Gen-- Gen 2 had a bunch of baby Pokemon and some evolutions from Gen 1, and Gen 4 added a good helping of evolutions and babies from all the previous Gens-- but for some reason I am not seeing it in Gen 6. They did literally nothing to any previous Pokemon in Gen 5, and unless the Kalos region is somehow an extension of Unova (which is geographically impossible) I don't see them building off of Gen 5 Pokemon there, either. I think Gen 1-4 were all based on Japan or areas close to it in Asia, so it sort of made sense for some evolutions to be linked I guess. I'm not sure if GameFreak actually cares about that stuff, but that's how it breaks down in my head.

I think if any Pokemon are getting new evolutions, it will be from Gen 3 and onward. I could see them sprinkling in a few more baby Pokemon here and there, like for Onix or Lickitung or whatever, just probably no evolutions. I would love for GameFreak to surprise me, though.

That was a really long post, sorry D:

  7. My favorite Pokemon was Vaporeon for the longest time, and I still really like it. But after gen 3 came out, I thought Milotic was a really cool Pokemon and since then it has been my favorite. I don't get into the Pokemon lore and mythology and whatnot, and I rarely bother with pokedex entries or anything like that. I just think it has a wonderful design, and nice stats and movepool are always a plus.

Swinub gets special mention, though, because it reminds me of a little boar named Botan in one of my favorite anime. I'm kind of a Clannad fanboy, if you couldn't already tell from my avatar.

As for legendary, it's a bit of a tossup between Suicune and Celebi. Water has always been my favorite type, but I think I like Celebi a bit more just because it can be so diverse in competitive battling. Throwing people off-guard with a move they aren't expecting is always fun.

  8. He was there before you fight Fern. After I fought him and Florina, he was gone so I think it's only before.

Okay, thanks. I don't really need super potions, and don't think I will ever use them with money being so tight in the game... just wanted to know that my game wasn't messed up.
  9. Forever? That's not right... I would think he should just be gone until the next storm.

I will try to check a few more times, but if I remember correctly he wasn't there when I went back. I think clicking on electrike the first time might be triggering the event so it doesn't happen again, not sure though.
  10. Actually, super potions are available before Florinia.

Literally right before her. Check the school's main lobby. He only appears after you beat Fern at the school.

Is this supposed to have already been implemented? I already beat Fern (and Florinia) and I don't see anyone selling Super Potions.
  11. Just a tip, I know most people don't spam reset for good nature/IVs on their pokes, but I'm one of those freaks that do, and I lost my electrike because of it. So if you (or anyone else reading) plan to do that for electrike, make a backup save before you chase him into the corner. Because once you start chasing him, if you wait long enough (until the next day) he will disappear and be gone forever.

  12. My favorite part about Fern is that he calls you a baddie, but when you "team up" with him, he sits there all day using Growth and Water Sport. So, basically you do all the work. And he has the nerve to tell you not to drag him down.

But yeah, the characters are pretty well done, except I hate when people use tildes in the in-game speech text-- stuff like that kind of annoys me. Other than that though, I'm really enjoying the story and characters. It's also cool to see a strong backstory/history that is consistent throughout the game. You can find out things about the history by talking to random people or reading books. In fact, I think this is the first Pokemon that I've actually talked to every person just to see what they say, rather than to get free items.

Probably the coolest thing, though, is that the game is still being worked on with the same level of effort. I think a lot of people start their own games and then realize how big of a task it is, and start to half-ass things to get finished. So far, at least to the point I have reached, this does not look to be the case. The only real problems I've had are because of of the platform (Polemon Essentials).

Anyways, kind of a long post I guess but wanted to express my gratitude :]

  13. Glitch is actually a girl by the way. xP

But yeah! In fact, do you even have to rename them? I was pretty sure you could just put whatever songs you want in BGM and then loop them from the Jukebox

You probably have to rename the ones that play in certain events (like trainer battle music, catching a pokemon, or battle victory sound)

  14. Your Computer...

    Operating System: Windows 7 64-bit

    Processor Speed (GHz): 2.3 GHz

    RAM (GB): 8 GB

Have you encountered lag in the following places...

    While healing your Pokemon? No

    While starting battles? No

Walking around the train tracks in Opal Ward? No

Walking around the east (rightmost) part of Opal Bridge? No

Around the Yureyu Building? Haven't gotten there yet

Any other places? Please specify None so far.

    Script Hanging...

If you've used the animated sprites, have you gotten a script hanging error mid-battle? No

If so, did it happen only once? Or every time a certain Pokemon was sent out? Which? N/A

Have you ever gotten a script hanging error outside of battle? No

    If so, where/when? N/A

  15. I feel like they should take a decent amount of effort to obtain in bulk; if people level a pokemon over the cap, then they probably won't continue grinding it up unless they intend to abuse for a good move. So they should only need a few to use it against the gym leader.

Also, I feel like it was obvious enough in the game that you should be wary of the level cap, so if people do continue to level up pokemon after they start to disobey, then that's their fault.
