  1. Here is my team with about 116+ hours of gameplay. Some spent on grinding in an earlier episode. I'm coming from a time where I started around v8, and would thus explain why I have Gengar and Magmortar on the same team, despite Magmortar finally being available now.

I don't care so much about having 5 or 6 IV Pokemon as some others do. I usually challenge myself, a bit, with a first run in Pokemon games by the following:

    1) Your starter must be in your final party. (Starting in Gen V era, Empoleon was appealing given the Dark and Ghost resistance back then. Made Serra and Shade a bit easier...)

    2) Once I'm set on a team of six from early on in the game, see how far I can go with it (currently the team above, may change one or two slots as the final Pokemon become available).

I don't really force myself to do Nuzlockes or monotype runs, but I like seeing how to handle challenges with what I've got. Makes things a little more interesting. Some gyms have been really easy for me over the course of the game; e.g. pre-Serra, Ciel, Adrienn, and Samson. Yet, some have been difficult; e.g. pre-Charlotte (*twitches*), Aya, and probably Terra using those Gen 1 rules.

It's been quite a ride so far for me, looking forward to see what challenges and additions I will face in E17-E19. If Titania is next, I may have to find a temporary replacement for Crobat...

  2. The fact that Reborn is more difficult than the main games makes it an interesting choice for many gamers. Prior to some of the recent episodes, some leaders were extremely difficult not including the hardcore mod. With the league based on the actual league that existed here, stronger teams are to be expected.

I had fought Shelly before she became a doubles battle so I can't weigh in on what's good for her now. However, you need to look at the environment you are dealing with. You can't go in expecting to win with Pokemon that are all advantageous to the gym leader's type. The teams in Reborn are designed to test your skill as a trainer and be able to work out a fullproof battle strategy to overcome them. The field effects provide another angle of attack as well. Learn the gym leader's Pokemon and learn the field they use. Then you can formulate your own battle plan, train the necessary Pokemon, and execute it.

hi so what's the deal with the dark material? I collected one, but I don't know what to do with it. Thanks!

I don't think anyone has found a use for it yet. You can sell it for 15,000 to a shop if you're desperate for cash. I want to think it has some relevance to the story... There is a second Dark Material Piece in Iolia Valley if you haven't gotten that one yet.

Where is the spot? I've been going around Coral and Azurine and it looks like a ring of rocks for me :\

If you head west from Coral Ward, keep going until a path opens south towards Azurine Island. Take a look around the left side of that path closer to the top. There's a small opening around there that leads to a dive spot.

  5.

Apparently there is a Relic Vase somewhere diving... Is there any way to get to the deep water that is East of Azurine Island or Southwest of Coral Ward? I'm not sure if this accessible right now, or if the Azurine Island project needs to be funded for it.

Never mind. I found what I was looking for... Anybody wanting the Relic Vase, start your search from Coral Ward until you get to the point where'd you have to turn to Azurine Island. Check the left area of the path that goes down.

As if she'll manage to tell Igglypuffs apart. Also, they should still be mineable. Emphasis on should.

I think that's just a sneak peek at things to come. As of the Megastone, that place needs some rebuilding to reach it. You can guess what part of the city it belongs to

I'd want to think it would be rebuilding South Obsidia based on your description. I've tried searching high and low for some way to get there but I'm drawing a blank. Any other clues you or someone else could provide on that Mega Stone?

A couple of questions I have that may or may not have been touched already. First, does anyone have any hints as to where Anna and Noel may have stormed off to from Calcenon City? I think someone else may have mentioned this before, but it didn't get answered.

Second, does anyone know if this mega stone is obtainable right now or is a one-shot deal?

  8. I believe Ame said somewhere that she was taking all the Mysidia references out of E16...

I think the reference was there in the first place was because of Mysidia being an affiliated site with Reborn or something like that quite a few years ago. All that's left of Mysidia is an open forum board full of memories (although I believe no one can register there anymore, not 100% sure).

Anyway, I've liked a lot of the animations and screen shots of Reborn lately. Everything's finally coming together after so long. It'll be nice to explore Reborn, well reborn, at its full glory. Really looking forward to that.

  9. I've always liked the aspect that Reborn and some other fangames have followed with the gym leaders and boss fights. Being an older player myself, I can agree that the newer games don't give the same feel for gyms as they used to. Realistically, gyms are supposed to challenge your knowledge and understanding of the type you are facing. While some types are not as strong as others, one can still come up with a good strategy for the leader to execute despite that. For example, we know Grass is not one of the strongest types, but I felt Ame did a good job for Grass being the second gym and gave it an interesting theme. The field effects that were eventually added give gym battles even more depth for the leaders, but that doesn't mean that you can't have a Pokemon that can take advantage of that field itself.

The gym leaders have been nerfed/changed over time, which have made some battles easier. However, it's still better than what we get from the main games.

  10. Magikarp can be difficult to train. Usually the reward is worth the effort in that one, so I can understand the hesitation to train that unless you had the Exp. Share. It'll be interesting to see how you handle Snowleaf's Gym with that team. Should be quite a good challenge.

  11. could really use some help just lost to commander sam in valdirm castle and got ported back to berro city, is there a way back to the castle without resetting the game?

never mind i ended up just resetting it because i couldn't find anyone to fly me back

I'd recommend saving a bit more often so you don't get into those situations. It is a headache sometimes redoing an entire area if we get into trouble like that. Anyway, you can always let the creator of the game know if you ran into an issue like that. It would help prevent others who may pick up the game later from falling into the same thing you did.

Noibat isn't capable of learning Dragon Breath, so I understand. Sometimes game creators also like adding a challenge in little ways by giving Pokemon moves they're not normally able to learn. I know the game isn't the anime, but there are times in the anime where a Pokemon has used a move that they don't learn in the games...

  12. I've played through Full Moon and it does have its strong points in plot, but I feel the abundance of legendary Pokemon you get access to seems a bit excessive. I'm keeping my eyes on it to see how it develops.

@Sandy: I believe while I was reading on Full Moon's Facebook page that the Move Tutor/Relearner is not going to appear until Episode 7. The game has a Move Deleter, but that's it for now. I'm not sure how you're getting crashes when your Pokemon evolve and I haven't noticed an infinite amount of potions in my bag.

  13. My thoughts on V8.

I'd imagine Krystal has some connections in GDC or maybe the league. Perhaps by doing her sidequest at Amethyst Cave may help us in the long run. Otherwise, I'd need to see what she does a bit more before I can really get a good idea.

In the save I currently have, I went with Flora and revealed what we knew to her only. I don't know which path (exposing Flora to Erin or Florin, or not doing anything with either) will be the best but I'm keeping backup saves for when v9 comes out.

We all know Grass isn't the best of types on its own so it takes some careful planning to make a challenging gym battle out of it, even on Intense. I battled Flora and I got the battle in one try as I did when I faced Crawli. Then again, I'm still working with a save file that was started when v5 was the most recent version (I'll have a restart save file later, just like I will with Reborn).

It's a shame that Braixen, Saki, Aelita, Adam, and Valerie are missing. Perhaps they are in GDC or maybe in the inaccessible area of Darchlight Woods, or maybe not. I actually have a few theories based on some things going on:

1: With one of the Eons flying over us at the end, perhaps the other was searching for something.

2: The impact blasted each of them to different parts in this section of Aevium.

3: The Farfetch'd Theory: They have become BASAV, a mix of the five of them a la XEL in Reborn. What if something went wrong when they crashed on Route 7 that caused them to fuse into one being? It is a bit far fetched given we know so little at this point, but we can always imagine.

Okay I'm done with the crazy here.

I did the Manor Sidequest. We know we get Light Ball and a TM. From the start, I knew Rotom had to be involved, but I'm not sure how we trigger getting Rotom. I wonder if the Light Ball is a clue to the next part... maybe say bring a Pikachu or Pichu back to Darchlight Manor. If I recall, there was a TV that was no longer functioning and in Gen IV, we fought a Rotom coming out of the TV...

All in all, there was quite a bit in v8 despite it being short. Looking forward to see what will happen in V9.

  14. Perhaps a pause would be best for the RP. It only seems like a few of us are actually doing something at this point (I know I haven't posted in a few days) compared to everyone that signed up. I'd like to stay on board with this RP even with a pause or not.

@Dobby: Nothing's really wrong with your writing at all. I know I pointed out the interest level being lower not too long ago, but it's rather a mix of people being busy, E15 on reborn being released, summer's around the corner for some, and a lot of other things. From past experience hosting RPs on other forums I've been on, when there are only a few people really involved it's best to take a seat and take a break.

Perhaps after awhile, if the group is struggling to move on don't be afraid to throw us a bone. There doesn't have to be failure right no, but a possible revival with a renewed sense on approaching the RP later. If you don't mind me suggesting, perhaps you should let us know when you can do updates or create a schedule for updates. I don't know how others feel about a scheduled system for updates, but I prefer it whenever possible.

  15. (Important Action - Arrive at the Beach)

It would be a long trip from the school bus stop towards the beach today as Rene boarded the bus. Rene was alone as no one seemed to be going to the beach once again. Yesterday's events might have shaken the group up to the point where no one wanted to go today. Regardless, Rene wanted to see the aftermath of yesterday and wondered what had happened at the beach that necessitated the police presence. All Rene wanted to do this time was observe and if he was lucky, maybe look around the beach from afar.

Rene remained in thought throughout the entire bus ride to the beach. He could still not clear his mind of the officer that pulled him off the motorcycle. It was a very dangerous move on the officer's part as someone could have gotten hurt. Luckily, no one one was, but the motorcycle however was a different story. It had been smashed after crashing and looked like it needed lots of repairs. Regardless, the memory of that moment shook Rene to the point that he would not try to do something like that again. if he was unable to search the beach, he would begin to look elsewhere for clues. After all, he had not forgotten why he's even doing this...

About twenty more minutes pass by and the bus pulls up to its stop near the beach. Rene thought to himself as he walked off the bus, 'Better stay vigilant and not do anything stupid today.'

Rene paid his fare and looked on to see what was at the beach.

  16. (Beach group, heading to beach)

Rene could hardly believe the school day was over already. It just seemed like time was flying faster than ever...or maybe he didn't care all so much about school to the point he only wanted to get back to searching. Yesterday's events were still buzzing around most of the group that went to the beach, however Rene wanted to make sure nothing went unnoticed. He would start at the beach, but if it were still restricted he would look elsewhere for information. Before he left the classroom, he said to the rest of the beach group, "I don't know if anyone's up for just checking the beach once more, but I'm going to scope things out there once more. If it's still under lockdown, then I propose we go elsewhere like the park or the pier."

That said, Rene left the classroom and the school. He started to make his way for the school bus stop like he did yesterday and wait for the bus. If anyone had anything to say to him, they better do so soon.

  17. I feel that it's tough to really get some discussion going as it seems people are posting less and less than when we started. Perhaps it could still be tough for some, or maybe is it that there is a lack of interest currently? (There really hasn't been a lot of action lately...)

Also, do the episodes follow the week days as well? I would wonder how things would work for say the weekend or if the after school topic on every 5th day would be extended to allow for weekends and the like.

  18. the problem with greninja is that it has way too many viable moves. my current set is surf, water shuriken, night slash, and extrasensory. having a move pool that includes bounce, x-scissor, substitute, spikes, shadow sneak, mat block, and hydro pump, you end up having to cut certain moves for others. remember, i only cut x-scissor under the assumption i could get it back, allowing me to rotate between moves as necessary. evidently i was wrong, but my current set is still extremely good for team coverage. perhaps x-scissor has been useful for you (not sure how, considering greninja has always been a suboptimal physical attacker), but dont assume the same for everyone else.

It's great that we can have Greninja go both ways with the moves it has access to. While true that Greninja's attack stat isn't the better of the two, a physical set can still work based on nature and team needs. I carry a physical set on mine (Night Slash, Water Shuriken, Bounce, X-Scissor) and it has served me well despite the challenges of Intense Mode. Then again, it really does depend on what the team needs to be successful overall.
