  1. Route 1- Everyone Bianca squealed in glee as Meena's attack caught the Patrat. The small rodentlike Pokemon seemed cowed by the attack and hung toward the back of the group, staying away from the Meowth. "Perfect shot, Mio!" Bianca cheered from the sidelines. "Now Jason!" Jason nodded, looking toward the Patrat group. "Pick your target and use Pound!" The Minccino sped toward the Patrats. He faked to the left, drawing the one on that side away from its comrade before dealing a quick yet sharp blow to the one on the right with its tail, making use of a Pound attack. The Patrat that got hit rolled backward, then got back up. It looked dazed, however, and most of the fight seemed to have been taken out of it by the unexpected attack from the pets. Bianca whooped and cheered again, throwing her fist in the air. "Good work, Jason!" she said encouragingly. "Now, Jack, it's your turn!"
  2. Route 1 Entrance- 8:56 AM Jason smiled at Mio and nodded. "I'm Jason, and this is Rascal," he said again. Then, everyone in the circle went around introducing themselves and their Pokemon. For the most part they all got along. Jason felt an unspoken sense of relief among the group that there was no one who would be a huge problem to have along on the journey. But, as they say, 'time flies when you're having fun...' Route 1 Entrance- 9:01 AM The group chatted among themselves after introductions before being alerted by a loud rustling sound in the tall grass on Route 1. An orange and green blur sped out of the grass, stumbling as she reached the group. She nearly crashed into Mio, but managed to regain her balance before catastrophe struck. Now that she was standing still, it was much easier to see her. The new arrival was a young woman who appeared to be the same age as everyone else in the group. She wore a big green hat with a white pompom on top as well as a long orange overcoat with three buttons spaced evenly down the front. Underneath her open coat she was wearing a much darker orange (nearly brown) vest and a white blouse. She also wore a long green skirt, which appeared to be the cause of her locomotive difficulties. She straightened her red framed glasses, looking around at everyone. "I'm soooooo sorry! I was just walking down Route 1 and suddenly I realized I was late so I was like 'O-M-G!' and then I started running but then I remembered I'm wearing a skirt and not pants or shorts like you should when you're running and then I was running through the tall grass and right as I was about to get out of it I tripped and then I almost crashed into you-" she said, speaking almost too quickly to fully understand while pointing at Mio "- and then I was like 'O-M-G!' and I didn't fall and so now I'm here!" she finally finished. She smiled broadly at everyone before looking surprised. "Oopsie! I almost forgot to tell you my name! I'm Bianca! I'm a Researcher at Professor Juniper's Lab! Today I'm gonna show you something super important." She leaned in, beckoning the group of students closer. "HOW TO CATCH A POKEMON! AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHH!" She screamed, throwing her hands in the air and shrieking at a pitch that's normally inaudible to human beings. Then she stood upright and took a deep breath. "Okay, Bianca," she said to herself. "Just like Professor Juniper said, 'If you don't stop talking like a video stuck on fast forward I'll rip your goddamn head off!'" she reminisced happily, laughing at the last part. Bianca quickly took a holobook out of her pocket and looked over the group. "Okie dokie, let's see," she began, now speaking at a much more manageable pace. "We have Acerbi, Mio. I recognize you from the picture," she said, showing Mio the hologram briefly. "Right now I'm accessing a subgroup of Professor Juniper's files that contains a copy of each of your Trainer IDs. You can use your Trainer ID numbers to register other Trainers in your XTransceiver. That way, you can call each other. Most Trainers, however, just call them TINs. Trust me, it's trendy," she said with a knowing wink. "I'd recommend you all exchange TINs with each other on the way to Nuvema Town. You're also going to want mine and Professor Juniper's in case you have any serious problems." She then looked over the group, grinning coyly. "But don't abuse the privilege, boys. Usually you'd have to work much harder to get my number." She cleared her throat, standing up straight and beginning to backpedal toward Route 1. She stumbled, but caught herself and continued walking. "If you have any questions, I'd be happy to answer them on the way to Nuvema Town. If we're lucky enough to see a wild Pokemon, I'll even give you all a demonstration of how to catch one!" With that said, she turned around and led the way onto Route 1 and toward an exciting new adventure! Route 1- 9:20 AM As the group proceeded onto Route 1, Jason was astounded by the natural beauty of the area. After walking through a short span of forested area, they'd emerged onto an open seaside plain. On their right was a beach, glistening white sand giving way to blue ocean waters. Most of the grass on the plain was about calf high. However, there were many areas where the natural dune grass grew much higher. These rustled frequently with the movement of local Pokemon, the smaller species preferring to hide from their airborne predators. On their left was an oak forest, unusually close to the water but green with the spring foliage of the southern Unova Region. The group proceeded down a dirt road that was hardened and patted down from years of regular travel. It was roughly fifteen feet wide, but was on an incredibly flat stretch of land. The roof of Professor Juniper's lab could just barely be seen over the far treeline. All in all, a beautiful start to an amazing adventure. Jason was taken aback. Although he'd been to Nuvema Town before, it had never been this early in the day. With the sun coming over the trees and glinting off the water, everything seemed brighter. "Wow...." he breathed, for once at a loss for a snappy remark. Bianca gave him a look of total understanding. "There's nothing that could ever be better than the beginning of a journey! It's full of like a million billion different possibilities! It makes my head hurt to even think about it!" "Or maybe it's just the thinking, period," Jason said under his breath to Rascal and Brendan, eliciting a small chitter of amusement from the Minccino. However, once Rascal made a noise. the rustling in the grass near the group stopped entirely. Suddenly, a Patrat's head popped out of the grass! Then another, and another! All three of them leapt into the path, angrily chattering at the travelers. Bianca was taken off guard and yelped in surprise before looking at the group and grinning. "Hey, they're not that mad! I think they want to battle you guys! This is the perfect opportunity for me to show you guys how to catch a Pokemon!" She smiled and gestured to the students with pets. "Come on, guys! Show these Patrat what you're made of! Those of you without pets, you're about to learn some valuable skills, so watch closely!" Jason stepped forward, pointing his finger at the Patrat. "We'll fight them! Right, Rascal?" The Minccino jumped down from his shoulder and onto the ground getting into a fighting pose. Jason looked back at the group. "Anyone else want to join in?" Bianca laughed. "Alright, gang! To catch a Pokemon, the first thing you need to do is weaken it. These Pokemon aren't too strong, so one hit should do it! Use an attack!" Jason nodded. "I'll wait for Mio and Jack to get their Pokemon out here first."
  3. Entrance to Route 1- 8:55 AM Jason smiled, realizing that Brendan hadn't noticed his slight blunder. He looked toward Route 1, still waiting for the Researcher to arrive. "That's odd. Professor Juniper said 9. Shouldn't the Researcher have been here like ten minutes ago to make sure we all got here on time?" he wondered out loud. He shrugged dismissively, excited to see that there were now six soon-to-be Trainers waiting at the entrance to Route 1. "I guess everyone's here. All there is to do now is wait for the Researcher's arrival."
  4. 8:54 AM- Entrance to Route 1 As Katie began interviewing Jack and Aleks, Jason turned to face the latest arrival. He smiled at the young man, prompting the same reaction from Rascal. He looked somewhat familiar, as a couple of his companions did. "This is the right place. I'm Jason, Jason Hooper," he said with a crooked grin. "This is Rascal," he said for what felt like the millionth time today. "I think we had gym class together. We were on the same team in hockey." He paused for a moment, appearing deep in thought. "Your name's Brandon, right?"
  5. 8:53 AM- Route 1 Entrance Now that Jack, Aleks, and Jason were better acquainted, the conversation began to flow more smoothly. However, at the new girl's arrival, Jason blinked several times before looking around as though puzzled about where Katie had come from. "What other people...?" he asked, doing his best not to give his ruse away as his lips ached to curl into their signature crooked grin. "We're here waiting for our Nature Scouts meeting!" he pretended to brag, putting his hands on his hips and striking a hero's pose while Rascal made the same motion on his shoulder. "Saving Unova's forests one tree at a time!" He cracked up at the last part, laughing lightly to himself as he waved his hand dismissively. "I'm kidding, I'm kidding. I'm Jason, Jason Hooper. And yeah, we're here waiting for Juniper's assistant. Welcome!" he said more genuinely, sharing a warm smile with the new arrival. Jack and Aleks being so friendly had given him newfound confidence in his approach to the new participants.
  6. 8:45 AM- Jack, Jason, and Alecks Rascal sniffed at Aleks's hand before nuzzling it lightly, inviting the young man to pet him. Jason chuckled. "Looks like he likes you. Be careful, though. He's a bit mischievous. You could end up with your wallet stolen," he said lightly. He looked around, grinning at nothing in particular. "Looks like half of us are here. I'm sure they'll all be here in time. After all, it's only been five minutes since I've been here and the pair of you already showed."
  7. 8:41 AM- Jason Hooper and Jack Helmenson Jason nodded, taking note of the Poochyena's well-mannered behavior. He then turned back to Jack, forgetting what had been asked for a moment before collecting his thoughts. "I'm Jason, Jason Hooper. This ill-behaved little guy on my shoulder is Rascal. Hey, Jack, I think we went to the same secondary school. We had Mr. Dodger's history class together, but we sat on opposite sides of the room. Old codger could never resist a boring lecture, am I right?" he said, chuckling at the last bit. Jason and Jack began chatting about secondary school, asking after old classmates and comparing notes on old teachers. Before long, more people started to arrive. 8:45 AM- Alecks joined the party! Just as the conversation was reaching that point where it gets really awkward because neither new person knows what to ask the other, a third person appeared! Jason nearly cried out in happiness as he was saved from the potentially awkward situation. "Hi! Not much, just waiting around for Professor Juniper's assistant. I take it you're another one of the research participants? I'm Jason, and this is Rascal," he said, once again indicating the Minccino. "What's your name?" He eyed Alecks's skateboard in silent admiration, wishing he'd learned how to use one earlier in life.
  8. 8:41 AM- Jason Hooper Jason looked up from the game he'd been playing on his XTransceiver to find that another of the participants had arrived, and with a Poochyena in tow! Rascal looked the Poochyena over before giving a chitter of welcome and a nod of approval. Jason, on the other hand, wasn't so easily swayed. However, he followed Rascal's lead anyway. "Hey," he answered. "Yeah, I am. I'm actually pretty excited to get going! What's your name?" he asked, trying his best to make small talk.
  9. The first IC post is up! There is a limit of 3 starting Potions and one other Item in your BAG. It cannot be a held item. Any Pokemon can wear a garment of clothing such as a bandanna to distinguish them from their counterparts in the wild. Active Quests: -Main Quest: "First Steps" -Today is the first day of your adventure! Get ready to leave, grab your XTransceiver, say good-bye to your parents, and then begin your journey in earnest! -Meet Jason and Professor Juniper's assistant near the entrance to Route 1 by 9:00 AM.
  10. Pokemon: Luminous Dawn- Chapter 1- A Bright Future! Accumula Town- April 6th, 2863 The sun rose slowly in the East, blanketing the Unova Region in a soft orange glow and beginning to warm the air as the dew settled. A group of Patrat quietly browse in the tall grass as one stands on a nearby log, serving as a lookout. A flock of Pidove flies lazily overhead, returning from their winter forays to the faraway Hoenn Region. In the shadow of the world-renowned Skyarrow Bridge, just across the water from the grand Castelia City, lies Accumula Town. Yes, it's a beautiful spring morning in the Unova Region. Six recent secondary school graduates are about to wake up for one of the biggest days of their young lives. You see, these are the young men and woman who have been chosen by the academically lauded Professor Juniper and her father, Cedric Juniper, to be a part of a new program. This program is meant to compare the results of a Pokemon journey at a young age with one at a more advanced age, such as eighteen. Our heroes are the first group in this program. Others will follow, but none of them will have quite the journey these six will. Little do they know that in store for them lies a journey filled not only with friendship and knowledge, but dangerous perils and villains alike who want nothing more than for them to cease existing. Action! Drama! Adventure! All this and more awaits our heroes. But for now-- RRRRRRRRRIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIINNNNNNNNNNGGGGGG! RRRRRRRIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIINNNNNNNNNNNNGGGGGGGGGGGGG! Hey! I was narrating! What the hell is that noise? 7:45 AM- Jason Hooper RRRRRRRRRIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIINNNNNNNNNNGGGGGG! RRRRRRRIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIINNNNNNNNNNNNGGGGGGGGGGGGG! The alarm clock sounded harshly next to Jason's head. Suddenly, a fuzzball sped like lightning into his face, causing him to dart upright. He slapped his hand blindly across the nightstand several times before managing to find the "Off" button. He then moved his hands to his face and grabbed the fuzzball, bringing it down to chest level. A pair of gleaming brown eyes and floppy gray ears greeted him along with a happy cry. "Minccino!" the little gray Pokemon cried emphatically, pointing to the clothes and backpack that Jason had laid out the night before. "All right, all right!" Jason said plaintively, putting the Pokemon down and swinging his legs out of bed. He stood up groggily and attempted to take a step forward before tripping and falling forward, barely catching himself before faceplanting onto the wooden floor. "One of these days, huh?" he asked himself before removing his pajamas and moving toward his clothes, beginning to get dressed. Today's the day, he thought to himself, quietly studying himself in the mirror as he finished dressing. He ran his hands through his brown hair before leaving his room and crossing the hallway toward the bathroom. The Minccino followed, bounding up to stand on one of the towel racks. "Mincc?" he asked, cocking his head to the side. Jason studied his skin for a moment, rubbing his eyes blearily. He had a relatively light complexion with a few freckles here and there. He shook his head, then rubbed his eyes again in an attempt to clear his vision. When he looked in the mirror again, he could see his light green eyes perfectly. He returned to his room, pulling on his gloves and vest and studying himself in the mirror one last time before he left the upper floor of his home. He was wearing a light brown t-shirt with a cartoonish Mankey sticking out his tongue in the middle. He had pulled on his favorite gray jeans as well as his tough new Running Shoes, which were gray on the top and white on the bottom. He remembered the conversation he'd had with his dad when they'd gone shopping to outfit him for his journey. Finally, he reached into his vest pocket and took out his XTransceiver, turning it on and strapping it to his wrist. Key Item picked up! XTransceiver added to BAG. "Dad, why do I need special shoes just to run?" "They're not just to run. Those shoes are going to go through an extreme amount of wear and tear! That's why they make extra durable shoes just for Trainers! That way, no matter how many rocks you trip on or how much mud you go through, your shoes will still do their job: keeping your feet warm and dry!" He caught himself sighing as he recalled the fun outing with his dad. There wouldn't be too many of those in the near future. The Minccino climbed on top of his backpack, waiting by the door to the room. He chuckled and shook his head. "Alright, Rascal. I know you're excited, but this is a really big day for Mom and Dad, too. Let's just make sure they're okay before we leave," he suggested, grabbing the backpack. The moment his arm touched the bag, Rascal scrambled up it and onto his shoulder. He kept talking to the Pokemon as he walked out his bedroom door and down the hall toward the stairs. "I know we've battled a few wild Pokemon and even in the schoolyard a few times, but this is going to be a whole other level of challenge. We're going to become actual Trainers! Finally, after all these years!" he gushed, beginning to hype himself up. "I just can't wait to get my first Pokemon and- Ow!" he began, cut off by a quick pinch from the little Normal-type. The Minccino was glaring at him, his little arms crossed in an adorable fit of rage. "You know what I mean! First Pokemon that wasn't supposed to be Mom's pet!" he teased right back. With Rascal suitably subdued, he continued. "I can't wait to meet our new teammate. I even thought of a nickname for him already!" The Minccino perked up, looking interested. "I know you love how I name stuff, Rascal, so I'm going to make sure and keep it a surprise! You'll find out who it is when you meet!" They reached the stairs and descended into the kitchen, where Jason's parents were waiting. His mom and dad rushed him, trapping him in a tight group hug. "Take it easy, son," his father said sternly. "You're going on a serious journey to become a Trainer. The world is a dangerous place. Just make sure you stay safe, okay?" he asked, an uncharacteristic softness in his voice. His wife jumped on the opportunity to strike. "Hey, Harold, stow the mush. Our son's growing up. He's finally going on his Pokemon journey, just like he always wanted. Let's keep all attitudes positive!" she said excitedly, drawing a plus sign in the air. "We're so proud of you, Jason. Do you have everything you need?" she asked, concerned. "Have you seen the message Professor Juniper left for you on your XTransceiver?" she followed up. Jason sighed and shook his head. "What's the point of packing the night before with you looking over my shoulder if you're just going to nag me in the morning?" he shot back, a crooked grin on his face. "But in all seriousness, that's the kind of stuff I'm going to miss while I'm gone. I'll watch the message on my way to the meetup. Don't let the house fall apart, alright?" he said as he walked toward the door, waving and looking behind him. He proudly strode into the doorframe, his nose beginning to fountain blood as he fell backward onto the floor. Five minutes later, he exited the house with a wad of tissue pressed to his face and a sly grim plastered across Rascal's as he looked on from his perch on the new Trainer's shoulder. "What are you lookin' at?" he muttered angrily, eliciting an amused chitter from his small companion. "Yeah, it's so freakin' funny. Do me a favor and open Juniper's message, would you?" Rascal nodded and Jason lifted his wrist toward Rascal, who clicked a few buttons and opened the message. Professor Juniper's face showed up on the screen. Well, the top half anyway. Then, Rascal hit play. Quest started! "First Steps" added to Journal. - Meet the rest of the group at the entrance to Route 1 before 9:00 AM. The message ended, returning the XTransceiver's screen to blank. "Alright, let's head to Route 1!" Jason said excitedly. 8:40 AM- Jason Hooper Jason reached the sign that indicated the entrance to Route 1. He looked around, a bit puzzled that nobody else was there yet. He double-checked the text transcription of the message, confirming he was in the right place. "Huh..." he wondered. Rascal looked equally puzzled. "I wonder what could be taking everybody so long?" BAG: -Potion (x3) -Repel (x1) -XTransceiver
  11. It largely depends on the length of the chapter and where it takes place. The chapters that take place on routes that lead to caves will obviously have more wild mons than a city-based map.
  12. No, but while you are in that 20 level range you can only take moves from that range and any before it. So say I'm a level 23 Roselia with two points. I can get Giga Drain and Poison Sting, or I could wait and get Synthesis from a Tutor with 1 of those points.
  13. WELCOME TO THE OFFICIAL OOC THREAD FOR POKEMON: LUMINOUS DAWN! Stratos and myself are super glad to have you all here. Now that we've concluded the sign-up phase, we have a whole bunch of information for you guys about Pokemon: Luminous Dawn! We know you've all been anxiously awaiting the results of the sign-ups. So, first things first, let's introduce our protagonists! PROTAGONISTS Our first protagonist is Katie Narcis. A brash, impatient young woman who will bulldoze others to get what she wants, Katie enjoys spending her time watching TV and reading books. She wants to go on an adventure because it "sounds fun." But will anyone be able to break through her hard outer layers and find the vulnerable person within? Unfortunately, Katie sprained her ankle chasing after the Watchog in "Routes of Hazzard!" She is currently at Juniper's Lab in Nuvema Town aiding in research until she heals and can leave on her journey. The second is Mio Acerbi. Raised with his little sister by their single, widowed father, Mio has grown into an intelligent young man with a passion for biology and learning. He's excited to go on an adventure and learn even more about Pokemon as well as having a really fun time! The third member of the crew is Jack Helmenson. The middle child of three, Jack is a bit of a loner. However, he has a passion for astronomy and cares deeply for his family. He is thrilled to have the opportunity to spend time traveling the great outdoors, meeting new people and Pokemon, and experiencing new things! Our fourth companion is Alecks Hunter. His real name is Alecksander, but he prefers Alecks. He has a twin sister named Alice. They were raised by their single mother. His mother encouraged his creative pursuits, leading him to become something of an art geek. His favorite method of travel is the skateboard. Brendan Fallin is the fifth member of the group. He's a former baseball player, having been the catcher on a local team for several years. With a keen interest in mythology, he hopes to see some famous archaeological sites over the course of his journey and plans to join a research group when he gets older. The last member of the group is Jason Hooper. A somewhat average guy from Accumula Town, he has spent his life dreaming of going on a journey with Pokemon. In fact, he would have gone on his journey earlier in life but was held up when he dislocated his shoulder and was forced to get it operated on. Now that he has finished secondary school, he's excited to have another opportunity to travel Unova with his Pokemon partners. SETTING The setting is the Unova Region during the years of B2/W2. In Accumula Town, six secondary school graduates have been selected to be a part of a new research program to determine how their advanced age impacts their relationships with their Pokemon and each other throughout the course of their journey. Joining them are three participants of a more traditional age from Nuvema Town, but we'll meet them later. Many Trainers elect to find Gym Leaders and battle them to earn Badges and advance through the Battling Aptitude Testing Levels, or BATL. Each earned Badge will earn you a new Title and a brand new TM! Throughout this journey, our protagonists will encounter Pokemon and people both wild and tamed, friendly and hostile, good... and evil. Despite the lack of Team Plasma's presence at all in any way during this timeline, a shadow looms heavily over the Unova Region. Although times are good and people are relaxed, there have been rumors of criminal activity: kidnapping, theft, and even murder. Added to the mix is a strange new group of Pokemon Trainers that have begun preaching to the masses. Despite many disagreeing with them, their numbers seem to be growing thanks to their promise of some kind of "Brighter Future." All kinds of Pokemon roam Unova thanks to the recent supermigrations that took place after the ecological disturbance caused by the Primal Pokemon, Kyogre and Groudon. The Unovan Congress, comprised of a Senate and House of Representatives and with its authority derived from the cities' appointed Gym Leaders, has deemed that this is not a threat to the native ecosystems after extensive studies were performed. As such, the Gym Leaders have begun using Pokemon from outside the Unova Region. You can expect to run into all sorts of wild Pokemon that are available for capture. Speaking of which.... POKEMON AVAILABILITY Whenever we begin a new chapter, I'll be asking each of you for a short list of 5 Pokemon that you could reasonably expect to encounter within the area we're heading to. For example, if we're going into Pinwheel Forest you should not be asking me for an Excadrill. That doesn't make sense. Stratos and I will look at your lists and decide who is going to get what. If you really have a big problem with our decision, please PM us about it. We're happy to talk things out. People with Pet Pokemon will have the option to bring them on the journey. However, be warned: for the first couple of chapters, your Pokemon Priority will be lowered. This means if someone else requests a Pokemon that you wanted they will get it instead of you, as we are striving for variety in both type and species. That being said, your Pet Pokemon will start at level 7, whereas your starter is only level 5. Ah yes, starter Pokemon. Each of you have requested Pokemon and been given them. You will not receive them until the group reaches Nuvema Town, which should happen within the first couple of days of the RP. However, keep in mind that until we get to Nuvema, your characters do not know which Pokemon they have been assigned. After all, the form asked them to pick 3. Your starter Pokemon also does not have any Egg Moves or Tutor Moves. It has its first two moves and its first elemental move. Update (12 Dec., 2016): Gen 7 Pokemon are available. Alola forms must be obtained through trades. GYM LEADERS The coolest part of a Pokemon journey is getting badges for many. Oftentimes towns or cities will have Pokemon Gyms. Keep in mind, however, that we will be visiting every city in Unova before the plot moves to the Elite Four. As such, you will actually have 11 opportunities to earn a Gym Badge! This makes our lives as hosts easier and will give you more opportunities to do side quests in the cities of your choosing. Gym Leaders will adjust their strength and teams to match your BATL Rating. For example, a Gym Leader will have more difficult Pokemon when battling a Rising Star (4 Badges) than when battling a Rookie (1 Badge). While you will be equal with your peers for most of the journey, the people who participate the most will obviously have the strongest Pokemon. Just keep that in mind as we begin to approach Gyms and the Pokemon League, because if you are not strong enough you can and will lose. Trainer rankings are as follows: 0- Amateur 1-Rookie 2-Novice 3-Intermediate 4-Rising Star 5-Hotshot 6-Shooting Star 7-Ace/Ace Trainer 8-Veteran Has challenged the Elite Four: Professional (Pro) 1 Elite Four Token: Initiate 2 Elite Four Tokens: Disciple 3 Elite Four Tokens: Prefect 4 Elite Four Tokens: Expert Has challenged the Champion: Challenger 1 Champion Token: Champion 4 Champion Tokens: Master "GAMEPLAY" There are only really four gameplay elements I'd like to discuss. The first is Side Quests, the second is EXP, the third is Moves, and the fourth is the BAG. Side Quests are exactly what they sound like. They are missions that you will be able to do in and around cities. At certain points you might be given an option of several side quests or "Exploring." If you choose to "Explore," there is nothing scripted, but there is a limit of one level gained. You will find your wild Pokemon during both Side Quests and Main Quests; however, it should be noted that rarer Pokemon can be found through completing Side Quests. EXP gets a little more complex. I personally loved the leveling system from Surge Story, so we're going to be using a modified version of it. Keep in mind that your level serves as an indicator of both power and move tier. Basically, your battle will be rated from D to S. -D- 1 points- that battle against a Pidgey that was unfortunate enough to get in your Mewtwo's way. You earn almost no XP from a Level 1 battle. -C- 3 points- what most battles fall under. It requires substantial effort, but does not push you near your limits and could even be considered an easy victory. -B- 5 points- a well-fought battle against an equal in strength, such as another protagonist or a rival. Both parties are forced to exert most of their strength. These are most Side Quest Battles. -A- 8 points- a battle that was won against the odds, such as a Gym Leader battle, a battle against an Enemy Team Executive, or a 2-on-1 battle. These are reserved for some Side Quest Bosses and Gym Leaders. -S- 12 points- a battle that was barely won. These are plot related battles only that will generally take more than 1 Trainer to tackle. Only rarely will these appear in either Side Quests or Main Quests. When your Pokemon is Levels 1-10, it takes only 5 points to level up. During Levels 11-20, this number is increased to 8. For Levels 21-30, it becomes 12. Levels 31-50 require 15 points. We'll worry about over Level 50 when we get to it. If it begins to feel as though we are leveling up too slowly, we will shift to a power tiering system rather than a leveling system. Moves are important, so let's keep them simple. At certain points in a Pokemon's development, one of the hosts will award you with a Move Token. You can use these to learn a new move. You can learn a move if you are in the same 20 level range as it. These ranges are: 1-20, 21-40, 41-60, 61-80, 81-100. So, for example, a Level 10 Turtwig can learn any move on its list from 1-20 provided his Trainer has a Move Token. At times you will encounter a Move Tutor; in order to have a move taught to your Pokemon by these people, you must have an available Move Token. For simplicity's sake, assume TMs can be used regardless of whether or not you have a Move Token; however, you must have possession of the move's TM in order to use it. You can borrow these from friends. Some Move Tutors specialize in Egg Moves, while other specialize in the Tutor moves available in the Pokemon Generation 6 games. And finally, we come to the BAG. I'm not going to keep track of your money, BUT you will have a limited selection of items available in the Mart based on how many badges you have (your BATL Rating). If you want healing items, make sure you stock up at the Mart, as you will not be able to using anything that was not already in your bag. When you update its contents through either acquisition or use, you must put a BAG section at the bottom of your post like this. BAG: - Potion x2 - Chesto berry x5 - Framed picture of Leonard Nimoy x1 Just keep it simple. Keep in mind there will be opportunities to heal along routes, so don't feel too pressured to keep an infinite capacity bag. THE XTRANSCEIVER In Black and White, this item was pretty goddamn useless. This is no longer the case. The XTransceiver is a multifunctional device designed to make a Pokemon Trainer's adventure easier. It is an all-in-one map, digital wallet, phone, address book, calculator, team checker, and ID (when used with its Pokedex partner app, of course). If you're ever unsure of what to do, you can always call Bianca or Professor Juniper. They'll usually have tips for you. Take good care of it. WELL, THAT JUST ABOUT WRAPS IT UP. Alright, so I'll be getting the first IC post up this weekend (Most likely). Looking forward to a great time!
  14. SIGN-UPS ARE NOW CLOSED! Look for the OOC thread soon! Congrats to those who were accepted. To those who sent an application but were not accepted, fear not! We'll be in touch with another option!
  15. No. They're you. I was making sure people were paying attention and not just randomly filling it out. Also I like breakfast. I wish I had eggs
  16. Don't be afraid to pick a starter that evolves at a higher level. We've already adjusted someone's Timburr to evolve at 19 and then into Conkeldurr at 38 instead of its normal level and trade evolutions. We'll decide on an appropriate level for your evolutions to make sure you don't miss out on one of the most exciting parts of Training a Pokemon!
  17. You can always describe that in the RP. Makes very little difference to me what your character looks like. It's kind of just the icing on the cake and I don't need to approve it. If you do anything bad enough for me to notice you have bigger problems
  18. If you have to try and justify it, the answer is probably no. Already got the first application in!
  19. And don't worry! Even if your application isn't selected if there are more than 5, there will still be opportunities for people to participate.
  20. Hey guys! It's been a while since I've been here. I want to take this opportunity to first explain what happened when I left. I had just transferred to a new college and needed more time to get my life in order. Honestly, for me the easiest thing to do was just walk away entirely. Now that I've established a schedule for the year, it's occurred to me that I have time to do something I love. But I wanted to do it on a basis that was easier for me. Then, I got a great idea for an RP. After talking with Stratos and ironing out some of the details, we've decided that we're going to become full and equal partners in hosting this RP. While a lot of the plot ideas and setting was decided on by me, Stratos helped me to shape it into a workable model and make it something we both agree is pretty fucking cool. There will be an original plot featuring bad guys, good guys, drama, adventure, and some huge explosions. Stratos and I are currently looking for 5 RPers to create original characters for this. Requirements are simple: Be active, be interested, and for the sake of everyone involved please use remotely proper English in your posts. Read on if you're interested. Introducing the newest RP to hit Reborn: Pokemon: Luminous Dawn Welcome to Pokemon: Luminous Dawn, a vision for a new and exciting Pokemon RP. The original idea was simple- since Pokemon Black and White were pretty objectively the weakest Pokemon games, let's make a better version. And this means that this RP isn't just an RP: it's a game. In this game, you are an 18 year old secondary school graduate from Accumula Town who has been selected to be a part of a new research program funded and founded by the world-renowned Professor Juniper and her father, Cedric Juniper. You are one of six of these students. Unlike the Pokemon Trainers you're used to, you did not become a Trainer at a young age. Instead, you attended school and matured in a more traditional environment. Now, you are part of a social experiment that examines what the difference is between Trainers who begin at a younger age and their older counterparts. To parallel you, three students have been chosen from the graduating class of the Nuvema Primary School. You will be going on a Pokemon journey across the Unova Region in order to bond with Pokemon and experience the world around you. There are Gyms to challenge and Gym Leaders to meet, as well as various Trainers who will be appearing throughout the RP. Find out more about the mysterious Brighter Future Initiative! Why are they stealing Pokemon, and what the heck are they wearing on their heads?? Find all the answers to your questions and more. Pokemon Restrictions: Yes, there are restrictions and they are simple. Your starter must be the most basic stage of a 3-stage Pokemon. It cannot be a pseudo-legendary and there will be only one person who has each starter. This does not mean they will not be available later on. There will be a limited list of Pokemon available through this RP. Each chapter, we'll be asking each of you for a list of 5 potential candidates and select one for you that makes sense based on the upcoming habitat and events. We will take your requests into account and it will be relatively rare that you will not get something you want. Your family pet will be able to join you on your journey after the first part of the RP. What is the benefit of this? Well, it will start at level 7 as opposed to your starter's level 5 and you will have 2 Pokemon right off the bat. What are the disadvantages? Man, I'm glad you guys are asking such great questions. I was about to get to that. The Family Pet is a common species Pokemon such as Pidgey, Poochyena, Lillipup, etc. That means that generally they will not be as useful later in the RP. If you don't want to have a family pet or don't want it to come with you, don't worry! These are optional! Mega Pokemon. The question on everyone's mind. They will be in the RP, but will not be available until later. They will be one per person and in order to gain your Pokemon's Mega Stone you will have to complete an arduous personal quest. How to apply: Ah, yes, the fun part. Here's a form. You're going fill out the second part in character. The application's due date is January 17, 2862. This means all characters should be born in 2845. Stratos and I may mix it up and tell you to adjust your application to fit a certain parameter, but for the most part you'll keep everything that's in it. Forum Name: Showdown Name: Favorite Color and why: Favorite Breakfast Food: "Professor Juniper's New Project: Application for 2863" Name: Gender: Date of Birth: Today's Date: Name of Parent/Guardian: Background: Include parents, siblings, hobbies, favorite subjects in school, athletic background, relationships with other characters that you can make up that might be relevant, etc. Family Pets: (common species Pokemon) Top 3 Choices for Starter Pokemon: Why do you want to go on a journey with Pokemon? (3 sentences): Please send all applications to both myself and Stratos in the same message. Starter mons are first come first serve. Same with pets. Except for Minccino. No one gets Minccino. If you have any questions, feel free to ask.
