Okay, I don't know why I was waiting for this... But I wanted to share with you my experience with V19 Boss Fights.
Pay in mind... That there WILL BE spoilers. So don't click if you haven't finished main story, kay~?
I was using rotating teams for this:
Spoiler- Trick Room team for PULSE Clawitzer and Reborn League
- Sandstorm team for others
SpoilerPULSE Clawitzer
SpoilerContrary...
Why... this extremely fast Pokemon... with set full of self-weakening moves... have FUCKING CONTRARY?!
If you don't take that thing out fast, it will decimate any Pokemon you bring in a matter of seconds. Here, I'll show you it's "estimated" stats (based purely on PULSE Dex and my eyesight):
HP: 255
Attack: 5
Defense: 50
Sp. Attack: 135
Sp. Defense: 60
Speed: 255
Estimated BST: 760
Add to that Water-Dragon typing, and moves like Fleur Cannon, Draco Meteor and Origin Pulse... And that "Chutulu Cannon" will sweep you instantly. Fortunately, it's bulk is good but very limited, and also... VERY vulnerable to Trick Room. Since it has no priority moves, you can Toxic-stall it, or boost Special Defense with Specially bulky Pokemon not weak to any Clawitzer's attacks (like Blissey or Sylveon) to the point that boosts won't do anything... or simply attack and annihilate, that can work too. Tyranitar and Mega Camerupt have done their job done.
PULSE Mr. Mime
SpoilerEm, Ame...? When I've "proposed" that Sigmund should be paired with Mr. Mime, I meant that Doctor should be the one controlling PULSE... AND NOT THE OTHER WAY AROUND!
While the concept and execution are unexpected and well-done, that sprite of dead Sigmund being controlled like a marionette... ay.
Unlike Clawitzer, Mr. Mime is more defensively built (as I predicted), like... really defensively...
HP: 255
Attack: 5
Defense: 190
Sp. Attack: 5
Sp. Defense: 190
Speed: 255
Estimated BST: 900
So... It doesn't seem to be that dangerous, right?
Actually, no - it's a Dark/Ghost... with Wonder Guard... and the only move it knows is... Entrainment.
Also, it's a Double Battle, with PULSE as one side, and Connal's Pokemon on the other.
Unfortunately... I've had no Pokemon with Fairy attacks, nor Toxic... So it came down to whittling it down with Sandstorm and Will'o'Wisp...
I hate that Pokemon.
I hate that battle.
"Labradorra Tournament"
SpoilerExcept for wonderful showcase of lore and untypical humor, it hosted quite a few intense battles. Especially the first one - Seijaya sisters didn't go down without a fight.
My Sandstorm team could hurt Cal a bit, but I bet he wasn't complaining... much. Especially when Earthquake'ing everything with Excadrill (he should thank Terra it was Inverse Battle)... He wasn't lucky in the 2nd round tho...
Florinia was more... persistent. With her motive being sand and all, I didn't have that much of an advantage in strategy.
Also that accused Glitch Field!
I had to bullshit through with Scizor and Aegislash; and have them set up which sometimes could cost me the entire match.
Then after everything... Battle against Terra with absolutely no fonts. Now, the battle was very unique, I'll give you that, devs.
That doesn't change the fact I STILL HATE Glitch Field, and was forced to heal quite a few times. Also Sandstorm benefited her too, so I've made the match more difficult for myself on my own wish
Still, it wasn't ridiculously hard tho.
Dragon Leader Saphira
Spoilertyranitar.
Victory Road
SpoilerSpoilerOnly the fights here
Blake
SpoilerTo be honest, him batting in Singles instead of Doubles made him easier to defeat. I get they wanted him to battle also in Singles as the previous confrontations with him were in Doubles, but... they could make him "second Angie", but wasted the opportunity.
He wasn't particularly difficult (challenging, yes), but... that battle was the hardest of the major ones in the Victory Road
Sirius
SpoilerThe easiest one, for me. Doubles, and most of his Pokemon is quite frail. Plus... except Minior, all of them were weak to Ground! Excadrill and Tyranitar truly have their field trip lol.
Also, the aftermath was truly~ satisfying.
Fern
SpoilerAt this rate, dude's to stop.
He ain't gonna never beat me. Not in the past, not in the present, not in the future. This one wasn't different - all of his Pokemon were 1-2HKO'd.
Honestly... I was feeling pretty bad about him; Fern's trying to bring up whatever has remained from his coincidence, after his life; events - nothing at all - didn't go as planned.
True, he did deserve that with being an overconfident asshole... but, still, having (almost) nothing to lose... He should be joyed Lin didn't decide to finish him as being "useless"
Elite Four
SpoilerJust the fact that Reborn Elite Four have two specialities each, had already my interest.
Heather (Flying/Poison)
SpoilerFor me, the easiest battle.
Because her team is very fast on average, and likes to set up Tailwind, that makes her easy prey to Trick Room sweepers; Field boosting the power of Rock-type attacks, prominent on my Pokemon, assisted me there too.
But... honestly, the fact that she specializes in two types that their parents (Elena and Corey) were specializing, that's some really deep dedication...
Elena was also specializing in Ghost types but shhhhh~
Laura/Bennett (Grass/Bug)
SpoilerEveryone was predicting an 12vs6 Battle... and we got simply 6vs6. Which actually makes sense; this is Elite Four, not Elite Five.
The battle was trivial - Tyranitar replaces rain with sand, Dusclops sets up Trick Room, and Mega Camerupt turns their bugs and plants to ashes; all of their Pokemon are weak to fire, except Volcarona who can't take Rock-type attacks on itself.
Elias (Normal/Dragon)
SpoilerDidn't except him to use Dragon types, but now... I think it makes sense - all of Creation Trio (Arceus' "children") are part Dragon.
Off all E4, he was the most tricky and challenging to defeat. Because he didn't have just fast Pokemon, but also slower but bulkier ones, so Trick Room wasn't as helpful (I don't know how to lower IVs (if that's even possible), so I couldn't have my Pokemon to have minimum possible Speed).
The Field benefitted him and his team very much, but to me it actually was a bit of an detriment, as Tyranitar couldn't resist Normal attacks, and Dusclops was weak to them instead of being immune.
That Ditto transforming into my Mega Camerupt also had my heart jump a little... Thanks Arceus Trick Room was still set-up (I bet Ditto had Choice Scarf or something like that)
The fact that his team had a variety of strategies, not just "Fast Sweeper", really shows his experience, being the oldest major character in Pokemon Reborn (which lives during the plot)
Fantasia (Psychic/Fairy)
SpoilerFirst of all... Do you mean that this universe... isn't the "original" one? A copy or alternative?!
And here I thought that Reborn was rather "simple" game in terms of time-space continuum. Which... in comparison to Rejuvenation still is. And... thanks for that, Anna.
Speaking of the battle, well... Her team was bulkier than I expected... and stronger - they all hit like a truck. Fortunately I've eliminated Nostra quickly - otherwise her Doom Desires would doom me in no time. Also nice to know that they've used Fast Sweeper Magical Seed Starmie; the very same I've described in my custom team for Ame.
Was I the inspiration... or just that idea was created independently?
...
Wait.......
Radomus... and Nostra
Nostra... and Radomus
Nostra Radomus
Nostradamus-...
...
this is some Ace Attorney level of puns
Lin (Dragon?)
Spoiler1st Battle
SpoilerSo not only has she stolen others' Pokemon, but also Battle Themes? Typical Lin...
And... "Meteor Champion"? What gives you the right to be one? Was your battle with Amelia for the Championship? I highly doubt it! Just defeating Grand Champion of the region doesn't make you one! It needs to be an OFFICIAL, ACKNOWLEDGED BY GOVERNMENTAL AND LEAGUE OFFICIALS MATCH!!!
cleans throat
Anyways, I didn't find surprising that (almost) all of his Pokemon were stolen from her victims: Ame's Ninetales, Radomus' Gardevoir, Ciel's Togekiss (or Samson's Conkeldurr), Solaris' Garchomp and Ace's Delphox.
More suprising for me was the fact that... there was no Field during battle, and lack of Hydreigon or Arc-PULSE. I did suspect that Arceus would be in a completely separate battle, but at least Hydreigon should be there.
Soon I realized that there will be no just Arceus... but ENTIRE Full Battle. Inside her "New World"
As of the battle, it was easier than expected - despite her entire team having PULSE2, all of them failed after just 2 hits - with main role taking Tyranitar and Camerupt. Not even PULSE Abra (frail like glass) could save her.
Yet I was wondering how Lin would "transport" me after her losing to me.
...i was stupid not to realize PULSE Abra's true purpose...
2nd Battle
SpoilerRemember when I've said in one of the previous posts that I had the plan to turn Speed drop detriment into benefit?
Exactly. That's where my Trick Room team really had the chance to shine.
Fortunately my team was healed before, otherwise I'd be screwed.
Most of her team, except bulky Clefable and Arceus (obviously) was either Flying-type or levitating. That was her mistake, as that put her into huge disadvantage against Trick Room. But that team was tougher to take out, because of the Field boosting her Pokemon, Mismagius leading against Dusclops (Eviolite saved me), and that fucking Celesteela which made me yell in the middle of the black night. The number of times I lost to it, Kartana and Landorus in Singles made me hate them very much... ESPECIALLY SINCE, LIKE, 90% OF THE PLAYERS HAD THEM!
Also... Somehow I can't find the stats for Arc-PULSE in my Pulse Dex, so it's hard to estimate potential BST of it. I guess Arc-PULSE is just like regular Arceus; all stats are the same, but higher (I bet those are in the 160-180 range, making BST 960-1080).
And its' sprite and type-changing transitions are sick!
Battle, however, didn't end up as difficult as expected - yes, it was perhaps the hardest of the Pokemon League... which rather negatively speaks about Reborn Elite Four.
But I may say that being accustomed to PULSE2 everywhere or bullshit EVs/IVs and multiple Megas from Hardcore Reborn mode.
Final thoughts
SpoilerOverall, the final challenge of main plot was... disappointing.
...in terms of difficulty - design-wise and lore-wise it was very, very good, imo.
I hope the official V19 release will boost the difficulty of this pseudo-gauntlet (and make it less vulnerable to Trick Room teams)
Ah, also if you know the themes for E4 Battles and Final Lin Battle, please let me know.
