  1. I'm a type of guy who always tries to cover up all "plot holes" that I've done - so no one can do the "Oscarus forgot" compilation.

But there was one I couldn't fix... until recently. That was the relationship between Oscar (OC) and Cynthia which is, um, ...untypical. You'll see.

Oscar (despite it never being shown as of right now) seems to have some kind of dislike toward Sinnoh Grand Champion for no apparent reason, despite her never doing anything to upset Battle Emperor...mostly.

In fact, Cynthia has nothing to say about him but compliments and respectful comments (which despite not being canon, it matches her character, at least from the anime). One could say that their battle during certain World Coronation Series where Oscar's Tyranitar (Mega) destroyed Cynthia's team 6-0, could offend him as he was expecting "challenge", but that's not the case - if he wanted challenge, he should give her a chance to shine, and not boost, tear and kill everything on its way.

Up until today, I had no in-lore reason for my character to be in a cold relationship with perhaps the most beloved canon Champion. The off-universe reason is, as it was just mentioned, Cynthia being "the most beloved canon Champion". But it may not be as apparent as it seems. For you to understand, you have to know this: I HATE overrated things! And not "overrated" as in just loved or having some sort of special attention from the creators, because for example Lucario and Charizard are overrated in that way, but I still like them (maybe the personal attachment plays the role). I mean "overrated" as in: fandom bitchin' on how they are "awesome" and ascending to the position so high that others don't matter anymore and are thrown into obscurity, despite them being weak, pathetic, insignificant, or simply being a subject of blatant lie.

Like "Oh, Bidoof is the true god of Pokemon, Arceus who?" or "Greninja is da best, and every1 who don't agree is stoopid" or... too many to count. That is not only about Pokemon fandom, but every damn fandom on this planet - without any exceptions. Although I admit there are some of these that I like and accept... but those have much lore and twists inside them that them actually make me smile, like "The Mythology of Lord Helix" - Twitch Plays Pokemon, from some dumb multi-multi-multi pseudo co-op game, has created an actual history, with characters, plot, legends, timelines, and it was so addicting that I'm loving that kind of creativity.

But Cynthia? Just because she was a bit more difficult than the other Champions from mainline games, she's suddenly above all else, simply the best and the others are forgettable? Th'fuck?! She wasn't even a challenge for me!

...I mean, she DID defeat me on my first attempt in Platinium, but then my strongest Pokemon was Empoleon on level 53, and the other a bit lower. I did get to Cynthia with a team of level 50-53, without using Revives in battles (only a few Full Restores on Lucian, but he was doing the same thing), no X Items - which I was declaring them to be useless for true Pokemon Trainer - and no real EV/IV training or cherry-picking Pokemon.  I was way better than I expected, wow.

Of course, after a bit of grinding, I have defeated her with level 57 Houndoom (which knew Sunny Day and Solar Beam, which make it singlehandedly defeat Milotic even after being quite damaged from Spiritomb) and lv 58 Garchomp which haven't missed a single Dragon Rush in the battle, while Cynthia's Garchomp couldn't connect one before fainting. I don't know why they claim it to be that difficult - I've even played Diamond version to check if that Cynthia was tougher but nope; underleveled Torterra and Garchomp were more than enough.

She also forces us, a not-teenage-yet child, to go into the place which might kill you if you do one step in the wrong direction, just to hunt some depressed young adult who would be simply teared apart of separated from everything else by Giratina.

A very responsible behavior, Cynthia. And fandom laughed at Leon for being "not-Champion", despite the fact that most of the plot he had spent doing His. Damn. Job!

Also, some "s-words" have declared her "Greatest Dragon Master" despite the fact... that at the time of that declaration... she had a grand total of 1 DRAGON! JUST ONE!!! Which pains me, as a Dragon Tamer from Day 1, that she is apparently more Dragon than Lance - the walking definition of Dragon Master; who uses both Dragon-type and Dragon-like Pokemon - Clair, Iris, Drayden, or even Nobunaga, who had in possession two Legendary Dragon-types and was the ruler of the Dragnor - a place where multiload of dragons were living. The only reason she's so popular is because others-... ...I know I have pushed the boundaries too much, and may get a warning, so I won't make my situation worse, and just say that she's way too popular for reasons other than character or history. Those reasons are more... visible, and psyhical

I... shouldn't be so strict and rough, but I simply want you to understand, since I do have problems with "sending messages" to others.

To the point - the off-universe reason for Oscar disliking Cynthia is my hate toward fandom for gloryfing her beyond human understanding. But... that cannot be put into lore, that would make no sense, and create a plot hole I wish to erase. And then, during Math sessions on the academy, while I was waiting for the rest to do their exercises I'd done far before them, it clicked. I was reminded of one fact - Oscar, just like Cynthia, is an expect in mythology and history of the world. It has been also said, many times, Oscar wishes to eradicate evil and bring peace, even using the most extreme methods. Do you know who was evil, wishing to create a new, "perfect" universe, destroying the old one, and is mentioned in the legends and myths?

    Spoiler

Volo! The man who can be described as "genderswap and character-flip Cynthia". Despite no actual connection being made, their resemblance is too striking for them not to be related. And everyone who finished main plot of Legends: Arceus, knows what he had tried to do.

Oscar could read about that in one of the older books - as I presume Akari/Rei would spread the news after some time or write it down themselves, and quickly notice the resemblance. Despite the fact he rarely uses it to full potential, Oscar is incredibly intelligent, and if given just a few clues, he could connect them, if there was any connection at all.

Yet all of that is hidden behind facade of heavy-handed leader, (once) undefeated Trainer, and intimidating individual. But he's way too "imperfect" to be classified as "Mary Sue-type of character"

That could make him start to believe Cynthia might try to do the same, and began to distance himself from her, still keeping a keen eye and preparing in case of a sudden shift.

Is it paranoid? Definitely yes, no excuses. But at least there are no visible plot holes~

Was this mumble necessary...?   I cannot tell. I'll delete this if asked by admins, but not in a next several hours, as I will be... busy.
