Starter Questions

Hi, this is my first time here, so I'm not sure if I put this in the correct topic, so sorry if I didn't. 

 

So uh I started the game today and when I picked a started, idk why but I chose Snivy and then its black and red and has a "*" next to its HP bar, so is all starters "shadow pokemon" or whatever its called or is it a shiny?

That's a shiny, they all have custom colours in this game. Shinies have roughly 1/100 odds here, so that's pretty lucky for first try!
