DanelerH
You’re stranded on Terajuma with no way to get home. You can’t even move freely around the island because you don’t know how to swim. Your only hope is to defeat Valarie in order to learn how to Surf. There’s just a slight problem: you have no Pokemon that will be useful against Water-types. Fortunately, after observing the local wildlife, I’ve determined that it’s possible to defeat her with only Pokemon found on the island and I’m going to prove it. After losing to Melia until she bankrupted me, I finally beat her and she gave me $2460. Unfortunately, I forgot to heal afterwards, so I lost to Sam and Alex. They took $1920 from me, leaving me with a mere $540. (Note that V11 is bugged here. Losing to them has you return to the battleship healing station, but the ship is docked and the scene that follows the fight is skipped.) Due to our low amount of cash, we need to find a way to sort out our money situation. Meet Foongus, the local “goldmine.” They can be found in the jungle during the day and have a 50% chance of holding a TinyMushroom. To get it, though, we’ll need a Pokeball. Fortunately, the battleship has a shop on it. Spend $200 on a Pokeball and go catch a Foongus that’s holding a TinyMushroom. You can then sell the TinyMushroom at the shop for $250! That’s a $50 profit! Repeat until you have as much money as you need. If you wanted to, I guess you could also battle Tourist Johnathan. Beating him gives you $3444. That’s the worth over 68 Foongus! Our next task is to catch the Pokemon we need for this battle. The Pokemon we’ll be catching are Pyukumuku, Geodude, Spinarak, Trumbeak, Morelull, and Bibarel. Be very careful after catching them, as we’ll want to EV train them to give us the best odds. Fortunately, Terajuma offers a variety of Pokemon we can EV train with. Let’s start with Pyukumuku. You can find them along the shore. At Level 30, they have Purify, Curse, Gastro Acid, and Block. Unfortunately, we’ve already missed Counter, so we’ll need to buy some Reverse Candy; 14 to be exact. They cost $50 each, so that’s $700 total. Level it down to 16 so it can learn Counter upon re-leveling to 17. Spoiler Nature: Bold (though any +Defense Nature will work, except Lax) Ability: Innards Out Moves: Counter Curse Recover Pain Split EVs: HP: 252 Defense: 6 Special Defense: 252 The next Pokemon we’ll be going for is Toucannon. Trumbeak can be found in the jungle, but only during the morning. They can be found at Level 33-34. Though not necessary, I leveled it down to 20 for Roost at 21. That’s another $650-700 of Reverse Candy. Spoiler Nature: Adamant (though any +Attack Nature will work, except Naughty) Ability: Skill Link Moves: Bullet Seed Beak Blast Roost Rock Smash EVs: HP: 6 Attack: 252 Special Defense: 252 Rock Smash my look like a weird move on Toucannon, but it’s actually required. Time to get Geodude. On the shore are some rocks that can be broken with Rock Smash. Doing so has a chance of spawning a Geodude. Get it to Level 36 before evolving it so it learns Explosion. Spoiler Nature: Adamant (though any +Attack Nature will work) Ability: Sturdy Moves: Explosion Anything else EVs: Attack: 252 Anything else Ariados is next on the list. Spinarak are only found in the jungle at night. They’re found at Level 33-34. We want to bring it down to Level 25 for Sucker Punch at 26. That’s another $400-450 worth of Reverse Candy. I evolved mine at Level 40 Pin Missile and Psychic, but they aren’t necessary. Spoiler Nature: Adamant (though any +Attack Nature will work, except Naughty) Ability: Sniper Moves: Swords Dance Sucker Punch Pin Missile Psychic EVs: HP: 6 Attack: 252 Special Defense: 252 Shiinotic is another night Pokemon. Morelull is found at 33-34. I waited until Level 39 to evolve it. Spoiler Nature: Modest (though Quiet also works) Ability: Effect Spore Moves: Giga Drain Strength Sap Spore Moonblast EVs: HP: 252 Special Attack: 6 Special Defense: 252 The last required Pokemon is Bibarel. It can be found in the morning or during the day. Do what you like with it. Now that we have the Pokemon we want, it's time to train them. I don't know how required EVs are, but I wanted to give the best chance at winning. Spoiler HP: There's an Audino trainer on the battleship, allowing for 2 HP EVs each. This is by far the easiest one to get. Attack: This one isn't too bad to get. If you go out during the morning, you can come across Bibarel, Trumbeak, and Weepinbell. Both of those give out 2 Attack EVs each. You can also find Grubbin for 1 Attack EV. Defense: This one is probably the most annoying. Exeggcute has a 9% chance of being found during the day and gives 1 Defense EV. Alternatively, you can use Rock Smash for Geodude, which also gives 1 Defense EV. Special Attack: Oddish and Gloom are found at night, giving 1 and 2 Special Attack EVs respectively. Special Defense: This is another night training session. Morelull and Venonat each give 1 Special Defense EV. Speed: Can't be gotten. That's why none of them are trained in Speed. With everyone trained, it's time to take on Valarie! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ta4kdaIgMys 1
