My idea about a pokemon game

I have an idea for a pokemon game so thought that I should share it.

Heads up, this is going to be long!

The setting of the game starts in platinum

In this game you are a trainer who starts his journey in a small town. Every person can get a Pokemon when they reach the age of 15, not 10. But this game is something different.... You are not the main character. The main character is lucas from platinum. Your character is constantly overshadowed by lucas in every way.

When you get your first pokemon, the professor just gives you a Pokemon and a full Pokedex and ignores you. He also gives you a worn out,run of the mill trainer card.

Immediately after you leave, there's a cutscene showing Lucas getting his pokemon and how the professor gives him a Pokemon very carefully, an empty Pokedex so that he can get to know every Pokemon and free tms along with the best trainer card there is.

The guy who teaches you how to catch pokemon completely ignores you and tells you stop bothering him but teaches lucas very generously.

At the beginning of the forest, that girl with the chancey tells you that you look weak and doesn't want to accompany you but of course accompanies lucas as he's "strong".

When the champion looks at the ruins she first runs into lucas telling him her name and giving him an egg. When you meet her, she says that you don't have a special aura and ignores you.

When you beat some of the evil team grunts you go to pokemon centre happy about your accomplishment only to find out via TV that Lucas and the champion took out an entire base when you weren't even given access to that area in the game.

When you try camping outside, you drop an item in your tent but think you'll just pick it up later, only to have Lucas simply barge into your tent, grab the item and run. On trying to stop him, he simply sends out a Giratina so you can't do anything.

By now lucas has become super popular among everyone thanks to the media and the champion. Their fans are everywhere so much so that when you try and pick up a good tm(flamethrower) lucas comes in on his bike and tries to get it first. All trainers around the area gang up on you saying that you are a fake and are no respecting lucas by giving him the TM.

But still throughout your journey weird things keep happening to you starting from the very same tm. After everyone leaves, the TM instantly appears on the ground for you to pick up.

Nobody in any house gives you any items but you chance to find the same items on the ground even though, they might be very rare.

When you pass through the jungle you find a girl. She has white hair. You think that she's just another lucas fan and talk to her rudely. But she just comes up to you and tells you to not lose hope. She gives you encouragement and tells you that she believes that you can get through the hard times and beat the champion. She then gives you the tms for ice beam, thunderbolt, brick break, rock slide and earthquake. She tells you to come back to this spot in the jungle after you beat the champion

Eventually you go and challenge the champion. She scoffs at you and on beating her she just says that you are completely useless and doesn't let you go to the Hall of Fame. Lucas obviously gets to go and is regarded as the hero by everyone.

Your pokemon are barely in the level 40-50 range at this point

You return to the spot in the jungle and she's waiting there. Then she tells you the reason she's there. She's a messenger of Arceus. She takes you right to him. Arceus and the girl tell you that they had been watching you the entire time. They tell you that there are 3 kind of people in the world, one's who just have an aura to be chosen like lucas, one's who just follow the crowd like all his fans and the one's like you who are rare as they never get any attention but don't blindly follow anyone either.

Arceus is the ruler of dimensions so he has created many worlds. In one of the worlds there are many peaceful trainers. But there are also many douchebags who love exploiting people for their own needs. Guilable people tend to get exploited. But you, the player have gone through so much pain and humiliation that you are just too wary of everyone you meet. Such an attitude is perfect to handle the people who exploit others (aka the evil team).

The girl also explains that the people in that world had managed to acquire some power, a fallen piece out of Arceus's realm which block their world from being influenced by Arceus directly. The only thing Arceus could do is bring someone to that world as even his existence was difficulty there. So you are to stop theses people and restore peace in the area.

You also find out that the legendary Pokemon in the world you started in were actually fake and not really the true pokemon. Because if they were the actual legendary pokemon, then nobody would ever be able to catch them at all, at least that's what Arceus thinks.....

After this talk, you get teleported to the new world  which looks similar to gearen city from rejuvenation.

The real story starts now

On reaching the new world you are introduced to some really nice people. They show you around the place and take you the trainer registration area. You happily tear up your card and obtain a new custom card.

You are explained the gym systems and how the only reason you need gym badges would be to have your Pokemon listen to you and challenge the elite four. There aren't any HMs here. After that you are also given a glimpse of the evil team and how they try and manipulate someone. Luckily you stop those grunts.

The story develops in one way or another and finally you find out that the evil team is trying to control Arceus himself so that they could become all powerful.

And yeah....that's my idea for a game. It might be weird but I think it definitely shows how nicely treated the main character is in every single pokemon game ever and how nobody ever questions their motives or their simply breaking into everyone's houses and stealing stuff just because they are the chosen one.

If you could read through all of that, then do tell me what do you think about this idea of a story, I would love to hear it!

I'm fine with the first part more or less, the second part I'm less inclined to. I think it is better the keep you the unimportant one throughout the game instead of creating another Lucas. This idea can also easily fall apart as a bit hypocritical. Like I said halfway the game you become a Lucas. Another issue is the destruction of your progress. You basically play the game for a long time to then lose it all for a new leaugue. your team is overleveled so that has to be scaled down. Finally as a nitpick your people are a bit too antoganistic towards the player for a tatse.

This reminds of a subgenre of fanfiction for naruto: the neglected sibling. It's a common one and the most important flaw in most of these is that they tend to be villainising the neglecting party. On top of that they then try to apply karma to the situation from a point on in which they partly destroy the main premise of their character.

For a better variation of this kind of character, you might look at Bastion in the yu-gi-oh gx tag force 3 game. The whole premise of this character is that he is kind of forgettable and unnoticed. He does some of the side-jobs but still is a competent character. However he cannot compete to the miraculous draw of the main character. He also fights threats but no one notices it. However he does deep in his resent the main character to an extend for having all the fame but is willing to resist it. In the end he realises that he dueled for others and not himself. The fame isn't important and becomes the unseen protector. One line that I find very good is: "It is very easy to run away from a dangerous duel when no one is watching".

@FairFamily

I will look at those links later. I was also too lazy to write down certain stuff because typing on the phone is tiring, but here are some finer points:-

1) You do not become Lucas. There will be a system in which whenever you go into an npc house, there will be some items on display. On interaction the message will say, for eg: A max revive sits on the table. That's it. You cannot take anything. Sometimes it might be possible for instance: A dusk ball sits on the table. Npc= Oh , you're interested in that? Sure you can have it, I don't need it! That's how you might obtain items.

2) I know you're going to point that this is just like Lucas so let me clarify right now, there will be other characters whom you can interact with who specifically say that, "the people in this town are nice, they give free items". This shows that everyone is being given stuff to. Theses npcs will also translate into side quests which might give rare pokemon or even mega stones.

3) There is no destruction in progress. I know that it is a huge problems in certain games. I specified that the level after the champion would be around 40-50. Hence the new gym leader would have a Pokemon starting from level 50.

4) Your character happily tears up his trainer card. This means that his badges are gone and not his pokemon. All new trainers who get their pokemon can avail a training facility available for even the player. This helps train up their pokemon to level 40-50 range so that new trainers would realize if they really wanted to battle with their Pokemon or not.

This is obviously just a plot point so that nobody starts questioning about how new trainers beat the op gyms

5) Pokemon can only go upto level 100. Meaning that you would technically be getting too much exp IF you were to battle the evil team by yourself. Hence the idea that you would be seeing many grunts who manipulate people but run away or some other trainer steps in to battle on failing and only few grunts who actually stick around to battle the player.

6) When the evil team plot is revealed, the player doesn't just keep quiet about it but announces it in via television. Other trainers then find out all the secret bases of the evil team and fight them. You have to check every single base until you find the one with the main boss.

7) A scenario will ensue where the boss traps only you in a room thinking that you only have strength in numbers and individually you are useless.

This should show the idea that when you entered the region, many were guilable but with time, people became more vigilant. Even so, you were the cause of opening their eyes even though nobody realizes it until you make a public announcement on the TV.

I hope this clarifies most of your questions.
