Okay so, I still don't see why we can't just give the kid money so that he can buy himself an ice cream cone, get out of the way, and let me buy better healing items. Cause what in the heck is stopping us from just giving the kid money?

Having a Pokémon with Pickup helps with getting the ice cream early.

I have to agree. It's pretty silly how, because you can't just give the kid the money to buy his own ice cream, he'll just camp in front of the vending machine until either you buy some later from a different vending machine or one of your pokemon picks up some ice cream off the ground somewhere and you give that to him.

 

I mean, the machine is right there! I don't understand how anyone, even a little kid, could not see the easiest and most obvious solution here.
