Shiny Trapinch!

So I have the Mothim to trade to the hiker guy to get my trapinch! Howweevveeerr I really want to get a shiny one! Does my Mothim have to be shiny for it to be a shiny trapinch or should I keep restarting until I get one?

Trading a shiny will not give you a shiny in return. I'm not even sure you can get a shiny from a trade. : (

You do have a chance of receiving a shiny from a trade so do not worry if your Mothim is or not for the trade.

You can hatch a shiny trapinch by breeding normal trapinches;/dittos. Infact, you'll have a better chance of getting a shiny hatchling using the traded trapinch if the Masuda method applies in this game.

The only downside is missing out on the 1.5x exp bonus.

Don't see how the Masuda method can apply to games with only a single region, and I'm pretty sure they are not included in Reborn.

Is it possible that reborn changed it so that all reborn ingame trade pokemon work for masuda method? I doubt it, but it could be cool if they did.

I don't think that's a thing, at least I've never heard of the masuda method being implemented in reborn.

I don't think the MM is in the game since the pokemon have about a flat 1% chance of being shiny, 3% with the shiny charm but you can soft reset for a shiny while trading. While you are trading the pokemon you get will appear shiny. Here's my own shiny Trapinch I soft reset for. The Mothim was a normal one by the way.
