  1. I've started a new run and I'm only up to Route 4, but my biggest surprise so far has been how good Charmander is as a starter. I'd never used it before in any of these type of games, but early Dragon Rage is super useful, especially to help chip away at rift pokemon. And Charizard with Flame Burst absolutely wrecked Narcissa, who is supposed to be very tough and I had no strategy for now that the field mechanics have changed.

Honorable mention to Boltund, who has quickly become one of, if not my favorite electric type. Very good speed, learns Spark, Nuzzle, and Strong Jaw boosted Bite early.

    1) Yes, it dependant on stats. I cannot fully say how much damage you need to break a shield, but it is dependant on HP and defences of the Rift pokemon.
    2) While speed get reduced, they cannot skip turns with paralysis or confusion.
    3) Multi-hit moves dont work properly, only first hit out of 5 connects.
    4) Poison and toxic doesnt seem to damage shields, however can reduce the actual health bar.

Ok, thank you! This is helpful information for sure.

Do you happen to know if Flinch is effected at all? And are stat/accuracy drops effected at all? I had Giratina at -6 accuracy and it missed all its attacks until the shields were broken, then it hit 6 moves in a row. That seems like awful luck.

  3. Basically my questions are about any of the Pokemon that have these shields and all. I haven't played Sw/Sh, but my understanding is that the shield mechanic comes from those games. My first question is, how is the amount of damage required to break a shield determined? Like is it different for each Pokemon and effected by their stat totals?

My other question is about status on these Pokemon, basically does it work? I'm currently fighting Giratina and I've attempted it ~15 times. I paralyze it first turn every time, and it has yet to miss a single turn to paralysis. Am I insanely unlucky or can it not be fully paralyzed?

yo use vileplume trust me there is nigh no reason to use bellosom unless you are gonna use quiver dance in which case might as well use vivlion or butterfree and if your in the late game just ditch both and use volcarona

That's what I was leaning towards, I just wasn't sure if people thought the extra defenses + quiver dance made Bellossom more useful.

  5. Hello all! Like the title suggests, I am debating what to do with my Gloom and was hoping to get some thoughts on which is the better choice.

My situation: I'm playing a new game and not resetting for Ivs/nature/ability, so while I understand there may be better grass types in a vacuum, my Gloom has by far the best combo of those things. I'm also at the point in the game where I go to Wispy Tower, with Narcissa soon to follow. I already have a Sun Stone, I don't know when a Grass Stone is available in this new version.

My thoughts: Vileplume has better much SpA, gets STAB on poison moves, has fewer weaknesses, and would have Effect Spore when I evolve it, but I don't know when that will be. Bellossom has better Def and SpD, learns Quiver Dance by level up and I can evolve it now, which is appealing knowing how tough Narcissa is going to be now that Flash doesn't change to the Holy Field anymore.

Does anyone have any thoughts or preferences?

Its not the Data folder you have to move the files, its to the Scripts folder

That's so interesting, I dropped them into my mods folder and they worked just fine, like any other mod.

no, they just say PokemonParty and PokemonPauseMenu and the file type is listed as a text document.

i'll try your folder suggestion though thank you

Oh, I'm sorry, I misunderstood. My pc opens .rb files with notepad (so as to edit them) so they show up with the little symbol that makes them look like text docs but they are still listed as RB files. Not sure what would cause those files to download as text files.

sorry, its listed as a text document, it didn't actually say .txt it didn't have anything after it. my bad.

So it is a .rb file? In that case, all you have to do is make a mods folder inside your data folder (if you don't already have one) and drop it into there.

  9. So I'm doing a new playthrough and I never played Sw/Sh. I just picked up Mime Jr. and I was debating which evolution I wanted... Am I crazy or is regular Mr. Mime better than Mr. Rime? Mr. Rime has more HP, but trades SpD for Def and trades Speed for Atk which is useles... Am I missing something here?

Also, is there any sort of consolidated list on the Aevium for pokemon's stats, learnsets, and abilities? And do all Aevium form pokemon have their new typings for all stages of evolution, or do some evolve from regular form pokemon like some Alolan and Galar forms do?

Gen 1-7 Pokemon have their Gen 7 moveset, but if their Gen 8 movesets have any new moves (ie. Dragon Breath on Charmander), it is added to the learning pool. Basically, you get the best of both worlds.

I see, so they are only added in if they are entirely new moves, not if the moves are learned sooner or later. Thanks!

  11. So I had a question about the second part of the Hidden Library quest: I know that in the previous version it was good to wait to complete this quest and turn the Garufan book over to the guy because keeping the book would allow you to get a Gothita at Indriad's mansion. I've seen that in v13, Gothita is acquired in a new way, so my question is do I still need to hold onto the book or can I turn it over and complete the quest earlier now?

All pokemon from gen 1-7 should still be using gen 7 movesets while gen 8 pokemon use gen 8 movesets.

Really? That's so interesting. I wonder why my Charmander has both Dragon Breath and Dragon Rage?

  13. So I've started a fresh run of Rejuv with the newest update and I'm about through Sheriden now and haven't been able to figure out what is going on with movesets for Pokemon that appear in Sw/Sh. Some of these Pokemon seem to have some kind of blended Gen 7 & 8 moveset (ex: Charmander learns Dragon Breath and Dragon Rage) while some still have only Gen 7 movesets (ex: Swablu caught at level 20 has Natural Gift and no Dragon Breath).

Has anyone found any rhyme or reason to the movesets that Pokemon have, or know how to figure that out? I only ask because I feel like it effects the viability of some Pokemon as well as how I train and evolve them.

Also, is the move relearner in Sheriden no longer accessible at all until the sister is found?

Wasn't there a tradable Buneary that you can get by trading over a Male Cherubi?

It's still available early, but not as early. Has been moved from the hotel rooftop to route 2.

Edit: Also, Lillipup is another pokemon that's been moved to later in the game.

  15. I'm having this same issue at the moment, has anyone found a fix?

I'm trying to play on windows, I've tried downloading multiple times, I have no mods installed yet, and I tried swapping the dll names as Starry Knight suggested, all to no avail.
