    Leo

    --------

Leo opens his mouth to respond, before freezing when the shaking hits.

After a few moments of looking around following the sudden quake and seeing nothing collapsing, Leo resumes his answer.

"Nothing smell related comes to mind. I could try, but it's not really something I've messed with."

Leo looks around the alleyway, noticing scattered trash and looks back at the wall with its sure to be ruined yet again cable. The mouse and cat in question likely live in this area and given how proficient with tools they seemed to be he was sure any casual attempt at protecting the wire was doomed to fail and only stall the inevitable.

'Attempts at protecting it'. Leo smirks as the thought crosses his mind, amused by his idea.

"I think I know what to do. If the wire needs to be repaired all the time, why not just keep someone around to repair it? Give me a minute."

Leo grabs some of the scattered trash around them, and starts pulling out samples of various materials.

Mana is moved from material to material, metal is formed into being and altered, mushrooms are made to weep, screaming hellish faces bend the energy around them, starlight imparts electricity and light and dark foam and churn, liquid crystals drip from one of his rings, along with other effects as Leo does a number of tests, looking for something, or rather multiple somethings.

It takes several minutes rather than one, but in the end, he seems to have found something that works. For the wires he settles for one of the first results. Old nails and some other trash are transformed into a glowing, soft clay like metal using the power of a synthetic metal.

    Spoiler

Unstable Castoff creates itself when applied to itself, but....
It's also extremely sensitive to the ambiance!  Leo obtains Lunar-Storm Castoff, a metallic clay-like material that shines and sparks with an unnatural aura.  It's more stable than the previous Castoff and remains solid until sufficiently different mana moves through it.

Organic materials and a chunk of brick Leo attempts to transmute or synthesize with all end up turning into an inert mealy substances, but a stray steel nail sticks.  It takes on a dull grey coloration, a lustrous glow, and become soft and pliable like clay.  He suspects they would conduct electricity quite well.

Thaum > Proto-demonite > Shiverthorn + Thaum > Green Tourmaline) > Deathwyvern Scale[2, 15](5): This mana type forms twisted screaming faces made of synthetic keratin when applied to organic material.  The faces expel any energy passing over or through them as light and heat from their mouths and crackling electricity from their eyes, their screaming is a high pitched whine that increases in volume and pitch as energy increases near them.

(Thaum > Proto-demonite > Shiverthorn + Thaum > Green Tourmaline) DeathWyvern Scale > Blue Mushroom wood[15, 5](23): The grain of the blue mushroom becomes covered in screaming faces as above, the faces leak tears of a thick teal sap loaded with bacteria.

(Thaum > Proto-demonite > Shiverthorn + Thaum > Green Tourmaline) > DeathWyvern Scale > (Assorted junk)[12, 9](76): Noteworthy interactions include a shard of glass creating a wailing face made of roiling light, a steel nail that creates magnetism in the shape of a screaming face, and a stone brick that causes carving of screaming faces to grow on its surface.  All of the faces expel absorbed nearby energy as light, heat, and electricity(depending on what it is).

    Thaum > Lunar-Storm Castoff > Bluemsuhroom Sap[14, 9](78): The Bluemushroom Sap is transmuted into Lunar-Storm Sap, a dull teal-grey putty-like material.

Thaum > Lunar-Storm Sap[19, 6](11): A liquid mana type that causes bacteria to grow in response to starlight.  These bacteria also create a strong static charge over time.

    [13, 11](79)
Grinding up the Lunar-Storm Castoff in this manner causes it to lose much of its elemental power.  Blending it with the sap results in a thicker, more pliable and easier to mold material.  It looks about like one might expect, shiny greyish specks floating suspended in a glossy teal material.
    This creates Teal Resin.

Thaum > Prismatic Plastic > Pink Slime[17, 12](98): This elemental mana type coats protons in a thin layer of bouncy magic, causing them to rebound off eachother and nearly any surface.  The result is a fine "foam" that appears to be made of blinding light mingling with total darkness.

Thaum > Prism > Plastic > Pink Slime
This mana type creates fuming acidic slime that made glassy rainbow bubbles when the melted material dries

    Thaum > Teal Resin
This liquid weak dark teal death mana causes fungal worts to grow on anything organic its applied to.

Thaum > Lunar Castoff > Glass > Aquamarine
This mana creates Wave Gazer Water when applied to Aquamarine. A liquid that releases a ray when agitated, even slightly. The released wave bounces off of EM fields instead of solid objects.

The other thing he needed was a bit more elusive, prompting him to break away from his work for a moment to check if Ena had any silicone, which was a no go. But by combining the mealy grain of synthetic metal with sap tears drawn from a mushrooms contorted face, he managed to get a pliable teal colored resin. He still didn't look quite happy with it, and poked at it a bit suspiciously, but eventually settled for good enough. Protective covering for the wires.

Transmuted Lunar-Storm Wires which could be made from scrap metal, and perhaps other trash, And an easily produced resin made from a mix of Lunar-Storm Castoff and Blue Mushroom sap. Both of which a single golem could create internally with relative ease.

With the materials the golem would need to make and repair the electrical wiring now complete, Leo creates a pair of special eyes for it, hollow glass lenses filled with a blue water like liquid.

And the rest is child's play. materials are reshaped, spells are cast, and enchantments are woven. In Leo’s hands stands a small metal mouse on two legs, clearly inspired by their observing ‘friend’ in the window. Its small core glowing softly, as does its sparking tail tip and the soulless eyes gazing back up at its creator, awaiting instruction.

Leo frowns at it, before reaching up with his other hand and tapping it in the side of the head repeatedly. It twitches and seems scrambled for a moment as the vibrations ripple through its liquid filled eyes like stones tossed into a pond, all too clear and visible for what should be a filled container. Fizzy silvery static showup in the crests before the ripples shift and align to flow upwards like static lines on an old tv, and oval shaped pupils appear in its eyes. The lines sometimes shift and curve, or receive more distorting bouncing ripples as it moves, but always seem to return to its ‘Retro Static’ appearance giving it a bit of character.

Now making at least a minor effort to not LOOK like a soulless machine marching mechanically to its defined goals Leo sets his little art project down, where it begins its work. As soon as the cat, now regaining consciousness, sees the little worker, it runs right for it, instantly validating Leo's decision to put a negative kelvin eternal ice spike on its tail. Even if he didn't intend the sparking electrical tip to be dedicated self defense equipment.

    Spoiler

Blah blah blah, Shape solid, Blah blah Golem crafting grants plus four to int for the craft, and assures success. Before modification Int is 6, Syn is 4, and Ess is 5.

The mouse is somewhat modeled after our troublesome mouse friend, and inside its body, tubes connecting a chamber in its stomach with its arms, deals in transmuting, synthesizing, and extruding material.

The arms and chamber have internal Lunar-storm Castoff bands which are used to transmute incoming compatible material, mostly metal, into moldable wires

A second chamber with Weeping Blue MushroomWood Is used to create and pipe the sap to the arms as needed as well, to be mixed with synthesized Lunar-storm Castoff and turned into Teal Resin, to cover and protect the wires.

The eyes he made are included to let it properly see where it should be working (And he tweaks them till he gets them to look like he wants them to.)

And for good measure, Leo includes a bit of Negative-K Eternal ice in its tail, to let it provide small amounts of electricity to wiring if it needs to while working.

Leo briefly considers filling some of the empty space between its parts, but writes it off as unnecessary and a potential strain on the mana intake of its small components (Read, It dosent matter now, but its got space for self improvement and more synthetic and transmuted parts later when it goes feral/native)

Its core is formed from nearby scrap metal, with parts of it softened by transmuting it to lunar-storm castoff, giving it a nice glow, and some extra thinking capacity, so it can lay its wires intelligently and experiment with materials and arrangements, with a harder glass center for retaining the core directives and restrictions for as long as possible.

((Construct the rest of its body with either metal junk, junk transmuted into metal, or stuff from storage in the Weatherlight I guess. I just want it to look toon robot mousy.))

    Spoiler

    (17 vs 3) Great success!
    (55) Neutral random effects.

Leo creates the mouse more or less as written, though when he sets it to work and backs off to watch it he immediately thanks his plan to add the Negative-K ice to its tail.  As as soon as the cat notices a new mouse in the are he goes for the grab and gets a nasty shock that leaves him oddly blacked and brunt until her shakes it off and continues going after the first mouse instead.

As soon as the cat gets up and chases after its other target, Leo sees fit to comment on its apparent toughness.

    “Resilient fellow isn't he?”

Snow ignores the question to instead bring up a number of concerns.

“Are you sure this is a good idea? Even if you used glass for its main directives, letting it experiment with soft programming is going to make it go feral all the faster.”

“It's pretty small, so its thinking and memory is bound to hit a cap soon, I wouldn't worry about it expanding too much. It needs all the freedom and creative thinking it can get to find wire material and route power. Besides, given that everyone around here probably wants the electricity to keep flowing, it's bound to keep working on keeping things running. So it's less going feral and more going native.”

“And the synthetics? What if it starts self modifying or leaving hazardous junk around.”

“I set it not to do too much synthesis and focus on transmuting and mixing material, and I forbade modifying itself in the glass regions. It will take a while for that to decay. Even if something happens it's not all that big, and it should still want to do its job. We can come check up on it later if we need to. For now, this should keep everyone from having to worry about the power. It's just one mouse.”

Job now complete, Leo stretches and relaxes, seeming pleased with himself, before turning to his companion.

“That quake doesn't seem likely to start up again. Maybe it's about time to take a break and enjoy the town. What about you Ena?”

    ------------------------------------------------
    Takumi (Edit in a min)
    ------------------------------------------------

  2. Leo looks at the mouse, then shrugs. He keeps on eye on the cat, waiting for them to get done, or run off, while he casually preforms the shape solid spell, moving it through the cable and bringing the torn and frayed insulation back together.

Maybe he could ask the mouse to show him how or where they got such a small gasmask if the cat ran off. It was clearly intelligent enough to use one. Not that that was conclusive.

"If it's not at least passed out by now, I don't think thats going to work."

    ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Takumi is surprised by how easy it is, the process feeling incredibly natural, with the water moving and bending in response to him. But whats more surprising is when he somehow manages to call a ball of water into being, he drops control by mistake when it appears, but even after dropping it, the bath seems a bit more full.

Trying again, he forms a ball between his hands and drops control, when it collapses it starts running through his fingers just as he would expect actual water to. To both his own senses, and the senses the cufflinks are giving him they feel exactly the same.

But there was no way he could be creating water right? He was likely to concentrating existing moisture.
So he tries it more, but aside from the feeling of becoming increasingly exerted, there is no change in the air around him, nor does the water created disappear.

He decides to go back and investigate the fountain and mural further. There were few explanations he could think of for this, and in the absence of time and space to do proper testing and research, investigating the area would have to do.

So he gets dressed, and heads back outside, paying close attention to the things he senses as he moves.

    -------------

Leo watches the cat pump more and more toxins into the crack, as the smoke begins to pour out from the building seems. How much were they putting in?
May as well ask. If he knew what kind of pest it was, maybe he could proof the wires against it.

"Pest Trouble? Whats in there that needs that much?"

    --------------

    Takumi

    -------------

Takumi heads into the bathroom and prepares to cleanup, removing his armor and sitting it by the bath for rinsing, and laying his clothes haphazardly on the counter.
He takes the the cufflinks into the bath with him, and while relaxing tries to examine them, and get a feel for using them. What do they really even do?

He also cleans himself and his armor as best as he is able, washing the metallic surface and quickly drying it off.

  4. Stella drifted about the cramped space of the Hyperion ship with some sort of mixed intrest and distaste.
Small, Cramped, Plain. Living out of this would be a horrible idea, yet she couldent imagine the pirate's ship would be any better. The benefits of the extra size would no doubt be offset by its crude occupants and rowdy thugs.

Then again. Space was important to fit in improvements.

Though at the moment she dident have much with her to make such improvements. Maybe she should call something in?
....No, she would leave it be for now. This trip would be more intresting if she explored more first before deciding how she wanted to change things.

More immediately, she needed something to do, and she was not immediately getting ideas for anything to make, nothing all that motivating anyways. And there was no space to move in here either. She was to used to large rooms, open temples, and the void of space.

So after a moment of thought, without any warning to anyone else, she takes off like a rocket for the airlock....and teleports to the other side, leaping freely into the starless emptiness. Its not space exactly, but at least she has room to stretch her legs and fly around.....

Maybe she could find something out here? She loops around the ship a few times, following along, looking it over from the outside, before looking out into the expanse, the mist of stardust, and energy around her, and the glittering of her godly attire standing out in the blackness.

    Spoiler

Fox Chimera Heart: This character has the innate ability to selectively copy Fox traits. When this character encounters any fox or fox-based creature, magical or otherwise, its powers and qualities are added to a list which this character can pull from. In order to take on these traits, they must permanently convert Craft tokens, into Fox Tokens.

Fox Tokens may be invested to realize these traits and powers as trick level abilities. These abilities cannot be upgraded by any means other then the spending of AP.

Fox tokens may be put into or removed from a fox trait at will, outside of encounters, during which Fox Tokens may only be moved around when selecting the initial load out. Some simple traits, like color, may be adapted without Fox Tokens

     -------------------------------

Doppelganger: This character has the innate ability to selectively copy the traits and forms of others through disguises. They may copy the abilities and form of an ally, or enemy. An enemy must be studied before it can be copied.

An action may be spent to learn individual moves and traits in battle as a target uses them, or a captured live enemy, can be studied outside of battle to create a more complete copy. When a move or trait is learned via copying, it is added to a list this character may pull from.

In order to realize these traits This character must permanently convert AP into CP (Copy points) CP May be invested to realize the copied traits and moves as Action level Abilities. These copied actions cannot be upgraded by any means other than the spending of AP and exist at the original level of the copied action minus one (minimum one)

CP may be put into or removed from a copied trait at will, outside of encounters, during which CP may only be moved around when selecting the initial loadout. Perk backed actions cannot be copied, as they are to advanced and complex to copy unless the user is using it in the moment, instead they gain "Assist" actions. An assist action allows this character to join an ally in performing the associated perk backed action, granting a buff to that action. Some simple traits like color may be adapted without CP

    --------------------------------------

MasterActor: This character may attempt to fool others in various displays of acting and trickery, through their powers and skill. This can include impersonating someone specific, taking on a more general role or disguise to blend in or get away with things they otherwise wouldn't, Or even assume the likeness of an inanimate object, to throw off pursuers.

Subject to GM fiat, 50% boost to relevant checks and/or the ability to use them where you wouldn't normally be able to.

    Actions

    Spoiler

Color Strike: The user wraps their arm in colorful energy and visual effects, before attacking. Deals Str Damage and forces the target to make a perception check. If they fail, the damage taken is elemental and they take an associated status ailment chosen by the GM. The element is determined by the user

Level 2: Damage is now STR+1d4, And the user may declare one physical damage type, in addition to the elemental damage. This does not trigger a second check, and is instead tied to the elemental check

Vortex Kick: The user jumps and spins in the air, before delivering a powerful kick to a target. The imparted kinetic and bodily energy then forces the target to spin rapidly. Deals STR+1d6 and Inflicts Dizzy for two rounds. This move has a three-round cooldown. Dizzy causes the afflicted target to have a 50% miss chance.

Phase: The user performs a combination of movements, and intent based manipulation of the energy in their body, which allows them to phase through matter. With this ability they may phase through matter up to a thickness roughly equivalent to the distance of one step.

Level 2: Choose one target, for one round the first attack they make against the user is dodged

Charge up: The user excites the energy in their body in such a way their power is magnified. Each turn spent charging up increases Str by 3, and at the end of every turn that is not spent charging, the charged strength drops by 3.

Quick Change: The user has mastered the art of changing Clothes, Tactics, and Mannerisms in the blink of an eye, allowing them to perform Quickswaps. When used, the user may swap one action or equipment, out of their loadout, and bring in something else, as a free action. Three turn cooldown.

Level 2: The user may perform a second Quickswap in addition to the first one, however, each simultaneous Quickswap increases the cooldown by one.

Roaring White Dragon’s Hidden Gem: The user unleashes a powerful special technique. Creating a large explosive orb of icy energy, and launching it at a target, before following up powerful strike of spectral claws.

Deals 4d6+strength Ice damage. If double the damage Dealt would kill the target, the damage is doubled. Once per battle

Level 2: When a target is killed by this attack an icy shard is created, which strikes a random foe for 1d6+[Str/2]

Flowing Blue Rain: The user performs a series of movements, realigning and amplifying bodily energy. All Debuffs and status ailments are purged from the user. Including those that would restrict movements, or the ability to act.

Punch laughs, putting her hands on her hips for a moment before looking around at the battlefield
"Really? This is your master plan?"
Punch leaps into the air spinning like a tornado as she practically flies at the factory, building up kinetic energy, and a swirling flow of power inside and around her body.
"The weakness is all to obvious!"
Before her foot collides with the factory and imparts all that energy into it, swirling magic races through the structure, spreading over everything while the force of the kick lances through it.

Vortex kick on the Factory : Deals STR+1d6 and Inflicts Dizzy for two rounds. This move has a three-round cooldown. Dizzy causes the afflicted target to have a 50% miss chance.

Whatever that means in this case.

    Leo

"Alright. Next on the list is those powerlines. That shouldn't take long to fix at all."

Assuming no objections Leo starts to head down towards the location of the frayed powerlines.

    Takumi
    -------------------

Takumi looks up at the shark and nods
    "Thank you, sorry for interrupting."
And makes to close the door and check out the yellow room.

  7. ---------------------

    Leo
    ---------------------

Leo moves over to examine the machine, and speaks his analyze spell over it, examining and its functions carefully...

    Spoiler

    [93]
Analyzing the device with his magic Leo picks up numerous advanced mechanical designs all miniaturized beyond reason.  Many of the designs shouldn't physically be possible, or otherwise show up on his spell as extraneous or non-functional.
Without a doubt this is the work of a Mundanus Extremis.

Leo receives 1 point towards his Unification Hypothesis, and a:

Scrap of Knowledge: Obtained from studying a machine that manipulates time without using magic.  Grants a minor bonus to a relevant check, consumable.

    Spoiler

Antibonginator: a mechanical device designed and created by a Dr. Heinz Doofenschmirtz.  Its intended purpose was to stop the annoying ringing of a nearby clocktower by stopping it mid-tick and making it skip an entire hour at a time thus preventing it from ever reaching the hour mark.

"Oh man, look at this, manipulation of time using completely mundane construction. Anomalous miniaturization, Structures....I can't even begin to understand what half of these parts do! Its been a while since I had a product of an Extremis to pour over. It seems a little overkill to use something like this to skip Intervals on a clock but it could be useful, not to mention great research material."

Its easy to hear the mix of rampant eagerness , slight befuddlement (Probably at the aforementioned overkill) and genuine respect in his voice. This was the product of someone who had mastered their craft to such an amazing degree time could be touched with plain machinery. Manipulate time with magic? Leo could DO that with the right materials. The simple things mostly, but he could do more with some time, spellwork, and work building the right golems.

But this was a product of pure engineering and machining. He couldn't find any enchantments ANYWHERE in this. Even the materials where, as far as he could tell, completely mundane, except perhaps some anomalous forging? He would have to look closer later.

"Here, help me get this off, CAREFULLY."

    ---------------------

    Takumi

    ---------------------

    Takumi looked at the sharks.
He recognized them as sharks instantly. They had been extinct on Ar Ciel since the Grathnode Infertia, up until the recent restoration, where they started to turn up again, but its not like he had never seen pictures or read about them.

He shouldn't really be surprised. If other worlds could give birth to humans, they could surely give rise to other familiar animals as well.
Granted. These were talking and playing poker which was not at all a trait he expected sharks ANYWHERE to have.

He stared for a moment as he tried to figure out how to react, before he decided to just not question it anymore.
"Sorry to interrupt, but do you know where vacant rooms a bath is? Im exhausted"

  8. ---------------------
    Leo
    ---------------------

Leo pulls the potion out of the chest and stores it away
"I see no reason not just to keep going up. I don't think we missed anything in that last room..."

    Onwards!

    ---------------------

    Takumi
    ---------------------

That felt kinda weird. Not bad, but...weird?

Maybe it had some kind of parameno component that could pick up on the world's feelings that created the water, and translate them into perception of it?
Did that make sense? It vaugely felt like wearing a parameno ring. Curious.

Maybe he could pull some equipment together and study these to figure out how they worked, though by this point most of his patience and ability to ask questions had been worn away. Getting pulled around like this and thrown out of your depth was, perhaps obviously, pretty taxing.

Either way Takumi puts them on and closes the fountain, then makes sure to finish cleaning up, returning the key to where he had found it.
He then decides to look around the hotel and its rooms a bit, to see if there's a bath he can use. Maybe behind the blue door?

  9. -----------------

    Leo

    ----------------

Leo after his comical stumbling footwork tried to crush his casual confidence and failed, took a look around the area he now stood.
The platforms didn't look that bad and there was ample space to not get killed by machinery if they missed a jump. He would have to mess up pretty badly to get caught, and at worst could likely redirect himself away from the gears...Or have Stoneheart slow his fall...

He briefly considered trying to have Stoneheart carry him up, but if this was a dungeon it would be a shame to skip loot. No, this would be good exercise.

Nothing to do but go for it. He took a moment to observe the gears, and then jumped for the next platform.
Leo moves across the platforms, stopping at each one to observe the turning and listen to the clock, getting a rhythm for his movements, a rhythm for time.
    Tick Tick Tick

Of course, he stays ready to use emit force, or force mana, or really any other tool he has to avert a splat or painful crushing if need be.

But this didn't seem that bad. It really was much the same as being in a dungeon. possibly dangerous, but almost relaxing in its familiarity.

     -----------------

    Takumi
    -----------------

Takumi looked at the box for a few moments before pulling it out. Was this some way of paying for repair work on the fountain that only worked when someone fixed it and flipped the switch? No, that was stupid. How would you get it in there if things were broken? And its not like it was hard to find, so you couldn't put it in there when it was working without someone taking it.

For that matter, its not a very good secret compartment if the switch is just visible in the public fountain, so it cant just be a hiding place.

Takumi proceeds to open the box, and finding the bauble inside, holds it up above him for a better look

  10. ------------
    Leo
    ------------
Leo looks around at the massive clockwork with interest, it looked well put together and everything seemed to be turning nicely.
"I don't know, Ive seen more esoteric setups before, some of the machine dungeons iv'e been in have had pretty nuts movement and puzzles, Especially the one that had gone haywire."  Leo rubs his shoulder thoughtfully
"Just....don't fall into any machinery if you can help it, if you do, remember that its better to have to fix the gearwork and reset the system, then it is to fix you."

"It does seem a little odd there aren't stairs though, it might be a security measure, but its not out of the question this place is undergoing dungeonification. Stay alert."

Leo admires the clockwork around him as he starts to channel some safety measures, the way the turning gears continued to move and measure time.

What was that piece there for? ...Perhaps? Tick....Tick....Tick.... he listened to the sounds, the ticking, the rattling, the turning, as ideas started to form in his head and dots started to connect.

Leo creates two balls of pink gel mana wrapped up in force mana shells to prevent them from dripping gel everywhere, and has them follow him. If they do fall, throwing these down should let him break a fall. (Essence 5, Synergy 4, Channel, Pink gel and Iron mana)

Leo then takes his turn, spending two effort, as he focuses on not falling, even as he holds on with one hand, the other hanging near snow's hilt in case he has sudden need of her or convenient iron (3 Dex, Two effort)

Snow keeps an eye out with her eye and her scanners keeping on eye on the possible dungeon tower

Frostbrute waits at the bottom floor in massive weight and 0 dex prison. While Stoneheart just kinda flys up to follow Leo

    ---------------------------------------------

    Takumi

Takumi waits for the water to clear up a bit more, then flips the switch

    To Satomi

    Spoiler

"Something is lodged up top in the clocktower. Not sure why. Maybe someone blew something up and a piece got stuck up there. We will just have to see"

Leo nods to Ena and follows along, heading into the building
"These caught my eyes right away, and they offer some great effects and mana types. Releasing latent power, better energy control, protective mana, the works. Ill take some time later and see about some proper testing. Im really looking forward to messing with some of these. Alternate casting with green tourmaline sounds like it would give good results, and the aquamarine can make liquid. Tourmaline to aquamarine might be really good actually."

    ---------------

    Takumi
    ---------------

Takumi finally finishes getting the pipes in place and flicks the drain clog away with a momentarily disgusted face, only to be followed shortly after by a dismayed one as the pump literally crumbles to pieces in his hands. Hopefully no one was going to try and make him pay for that, Its not like it could have been made any better. He could scarcely fathom why this system was in such disrepair, everything else looked rather nice in the area....even if this place was freaking him out, what with its empty hotel, eternal darkness, and sparse activity.

It was like the opening to a mystery novel or a horror story where-
Wait no don't think about that while in the dark underground unfamiliar pumphouse alone.

He didn't have much money on him. Did they even take Leaf here? With little option for fixing the pump, Takumi heads back to the area they came in from for a bit, and gets brought up to speed on the ships, the unwanted items piled aboard, and an apparently new super printer.

Looking around Takumi begins to help himself to the metal supply and more minor items left laying around unwanted, starting by building himself an actual set of tools
If he can just figure out how this works

    Spoiler

    (7, 2) (5)
Takumi makes a few adjustments and mostly guesses with most of the fields that pop up.  He only actually knows what about a third of them mean and has vague guesses on another third.  The machine draws up his feedstock readily and starts printing an arrangement of tools.  About halfway through the process the machine flashes up an error.
"materialType field overflow error.  Unknown material specified!  Reverting to default matter state."
It looks like the tools are functionally fine, but some of the polymer handles and grips seem to have been replaced with...bright yellow sponge?  Why would that be the default material?

    Wave Technician's Toolbox:
Grants a +1 bonus to working with simple mechanics and Wave tech.  Tool handles are made of sponge.

Takumi just kind of does his best to shrug off the strange behavior of the equally strange and out of context super tech, and after holding one of the tools for a few moments decides its good enough.

Looking over the alien alloy, Takumi tries to scratch it, and upon failing strikes the metal and listens to its sound as he feels the vibrations travel up through his wrench and his arms.

Noding to himself he takes two alien alloy Ingots, the remaining Biotic Field Generator, and some extra two gold ingots for conversion and uses them to construct a new pump.

He uses his tools for this as much as he can, but will use the printer for making the casing and such. The intended result is a durable, long lasting water pump with a distinct look. Being made of Alien alloy, brass (Converted from the gold) and glowy tech bits and such.

    (40)
    (16)

Takumi gets a bit carried away as he works on the pump, ending with something that's probably overkill for such a simple fountain.  On the bright side it has an adjustable pressure slide and can output enough water in a tight stream to cut stone.
    (Replacement Pump Obtained)

Ok so maybe this was a LITTLE stupid. Well...At least it wouldn't really clog?

Returning to the pump house to find it just as he left, Takumi begins to install the pump bolting things down, connecting pipes, ensuring everything fits, and at last turns it on, and breaths a sigh of relief at the sound of it starting up as he begins to pack everything back up.

    Takumi
    -------------

With no better options at the moment, Takumi makes sure all the valves are shut off, and disables or disconnects its powersource if one can be located
With tools in hand he begins to dissemble the pump and clean it as best he can.

As for the rust, the places that are rusted to the point of jamming will receive a light sanding in absence of proper rust remover.

Of course, he also goes over the piping, the worst pipes will be replaced with the spares, and the others will have the insides checked and cleaned if need be. If the Pump was this bad they might need it.

    Takumi
    -----------

Takumi groans at the sight of the old, decaying equipment and piping.  As both an engineer and lab technician it was like being slapped in the face, a feeling that was likely not helped by the times he had formerly worked on and maintained hydroponics equipment as an apprentice and then some.

Thankfully this experience meant something as simple as a fountain, even one in such horrid condition should be no trouble.
     He just needed to grab....his.....tools....and...

Well this was a problem. Takumi now realized he had gotten pretty far ahead of himself and cursed the untimely timing of his getting pulled into the multiverse.
Couldn't they have waited till he was back at the hotel? Or better yet, grabbed him while he was still at work?

Takumi starts looking around to see if someone left any tools here, but partly hopes he won't find them in such poor conditions.

    Leo
    -------

Leo nods, both at the shopkeep, and Ena

"Ill have to run back to the ship to grab more meteorite, But I can make Prisms and Pink Gel here. Might take a bit though......Or....Hang on, I know an Easier way."

Leo trades in a portion of Meteorite bars with Tim to quickly generate some Prisms and Pink Gel, and trades a number of the three materials in exchange for 900 munny

His eyes are caught by some of the gems they have, and most notably, the rings and that chain.

    Spoiler

Thaum > Green Tourmaline(3, 2):  this mana causes energy it encounters to flow along its outer layers, especially convex surfaces.  This frequently causes the mana to glow bright multi-colored light as it shifts and throws out light it has altered the flow of.

    Spoiler

Protect Chain(20, 14): This mana type makes things harder to damage.

Aquamarine Ring(19, 1):  This mana type helps to draw out latent water related magic within the user.

Aquamarine:   Aquamarine mana creates Jewel Water when applied to Aquamarine. This glittering fluid acts almost exactly like water.

Tourmaline Ring(15, 16): This mana type makes the user better able control energy moving through their body.

Sardonyx Ring(19, 8): This mana type helps the user to unlock physical strength within themselves.

Sardonyx(4, 9): This mana type fills the user with equal measures of courage and fear.

      He purchases the

Protect Chain , Aquamarine Ring , Tourmaline Ring , And Sardonyx Ring, Along with an additional shard of tourmaline with his Credit

    Spoiler

    Protect chain grants +3 Res

Aquamarine Ring: +1 Int and an action slot only usable for water element active.

Tourmaline Ring: +1 Syn and an action slot only usable for an lightning/thunder element active

Sardonyx Ring: +1 Str and an action slot only usable for a fire element active.

"These are great. Damage reduction, release of latent power, better energy control, increased strength, enhanced control over various element based spells, a synthetic liquid? Oh Im going to have field day with this stuff. Pleasure doing business with you"

Before continuing the quests though, he alerts the rest of the party he might be a few minuets and tells them to take a break or something, as he gets involved in one of Law's projects, and spends perhaps a bit more time then he intended in the ship, between helping with a super forge printer (Which he is quite impressed by and eager to try out later), making tea for a (copy?) eldritch god, and putting more planter boxes in the ship.

He DOES notice the bug he brought from the agony is missing, and none of the golems seem to have seen it, but after a few moments of thinking, Leo shrugs.
It was either somewhere it was going to get squished and killed, somewhere where it was going to get captured, somewhere where it couldn't hurt anyone, or running about on the ship somewhere.

After all they spent a while on the ship after helping the village, what with how long it took to get exams done.

At worst, there would be an infestation to deal with later in exchange for valuable research material.
At best, it would wander into this room, lured by the presence of its associated biome.

Leo briefly considers using a mana pulse to dominate it and lure it back, but decides that sending pulses over the whole ship for an hour to catch a bug that might not be here for an hour might be a waste of time.

Especially given he had work to do.

And so, he returns to the party

"Alright, Sorry for taking so long, who's up for checking out the clock tower?"

"Sure, go right ahead."  Leo prepares to follow them up the ladder.

    Takumi

Takumi grabs a conveniently placed lantern and starts to slowly progress into the passage, noting and examining all the equipment as he passes, Still unnerved at this empty place that seemed a little to lifeless.

  16. ------------
    Leo
    ------------

Leo asks about testing the wares out, but the shopkeep is understandably concerned about having someone without money screw around with the gear.
Which prompts a "Hmmm" of thinking. Not that Leo had to think THAT hard on it.

"Well, I didn't bring much money, but I should have plenty of material to trade, got a bunch of metal from another world I went to, Ive also got synthetics and transmuted materials I could trade you. I also make golems and do enchanting."

Leo tosses a few spare Prisms and Channeling Samples on the table, mostly ones hes whipped up or got from Terraria, barring the really dangerous stuff.

"Here are some of the attunement samples I carry around with me, and some scraps of some things I was whipping up earlier, Prisms, Eternal Ice, Icy Shards, Hard Disks, Magnetolight Disk, Meteorite Metal, Oh, these metals here-"

He gestures to the T-Variants of normal metals

"-Were smelted a little differently, so they aren't the same as the normal stuff, They are physically stronger, and have different effects then usual."

"I can keep going, Tell me if something catches your eye."

    ------------------

    Takumi
    ------------------

Well while this was still bothering him, He did not feel inclined to go breaking into chests or rummaging around. If there wasent anyone in here, then he would just have to go looking for the pumphouse on his own.

If it was near here, then this Key would probably be what goes to it...Maybe.
And given the fountain was here, the pumphouse had to be close by, assuming the people who built the thing were reasonable.

So Takumi turns and heads back outside, making a note to return the key later, and starts looking around for and clues as to where the pumphouse might be.

  17. ---------------
    Leo
    ---------------

Leo fixes up the tags (Im assuming he wont need a check for something this minor, he would just keep shaping them till he got them right anyways) and after checking them to make sure he got the address right, tells the party he will be right back, and heads into the accessory shop.

Given the old lady does not seem to be the one who actually put the request out, There might still be a momentary reward by the people who were spooked by a "Monster"
With this is mind, Leo will greet the shopkeep and ask about any rewards that might have been left, explaining he and the party dealt with the "Monster"

He also looks around at the things for sale.

    ---------------

    Takumi

    ---------------

Feeling the chill creep back into him Takumi takes the grey key and looks around.
Something was absolutely not right here and it was freaking him out.

Lights lit, Front door unlocked, No responses, and as the full keyrack proved, no guests.
It could be that whoever runs this place has bumbling forgetfulness to end all bumbling forgetfulness. But, while it might have had more to do with recent events, Takumi was now concerned enough to make sure nobody had collapsed or something. At least the building wasent on fire....

Pocketing the key for now, Takumi proceeds to nock on the various doors, and open any that are already unlocked, before moving upstairs and checking up there.

  18. ------------------------------------------------
    Leo
    ------------------------------------------------
Leo nods, rubbing one of his sore arms.
"Thank you, but it was really not much trouble."
This does not stop him from taking a cookie, and chomping into it, Gaining 1 Ess....Or not. He nods, feeling the little bit of mana from the cookie start to fill his body and slowly leak into the air around him. Enjoying the lovely sweet and sour flavors as they sink into his body and mix and spread into a mix of hot and cold that spreads through his body. The magical energies soaking through him. Those are some good cookies!
"These are really good. You guys should try some."

After eating it he wipes his mouth on his sleeve.
"Ah. I noticed the address on there tags has been scratched out"
Leo nods at the two animals
"If you've moved recently I can update the tags with your new address, it would only take a minuet if I used shape solid. You'll have to give me a few minuets to purge some of this foreign mana though. Has a habit of working its way into my spells even when I don't want it to."

Leo promptly moves away to do some testing, creating a strange glowing ice, casting shaping blades from his fingertips, and giving form to a small humanoid golem of ice, which instantly begins projecting knight armor around itself, and forms glowing energy blades.

The small surge of foreign mana he had gained was gone now....but far from forgotten. That energy felt somewhat natural for him, and as he watched it and muttered to himself, he managed to recreate it, Gaining a new Metamagic, instead of Ess.

He proceeds to do more tests, calling forth winds filled with ice blades, and creating binary test cores which he idily tosses.

    Eventually he wanders back over.
"Ok, Purged and then some! I can adjust those tags for you if you want."

    --------------------------------------------------
    Takumi
    --------------------------------------------------

After waiting a little longer, and ringing the bell one more time, and waiting a bit more
If no one else comes Takumi will call out and ask
    "Is this a bad time?"

  19. Leo gives the animal one more pat, and lets it up as the presumed 'Mom' calls them. Hopefully they don't have to much trouble cleaning them up.
He feels a little dizzy as he stands up before shaking it off, though he can't help but notice a craving for fish he's pretty sure is not his and a subtle faint twitch in his fingers that reminds him of when he tested Demonite Ore.

"Oof, think I might have let some of those animal impulses rub off on me. Really need more practice....Honestly though some fresh fish would not be that bad."
Leo rolls his shoulders, confident the foreign will putzing around his brain and/or psychic shell will purge soon enough.

He shakes his head in response to Satomi
"Relax, It seems pretty peaceful here, and we could use a bit of rest. Not to mention by doing these errands we might be able to get money and rewards that can help us later. Building Materials, Better weapons, Gear. I for one am eager to get a look at the accessory shop, I could use more Gemstones or any interesting metals they might have."

"You know whats better for rest? Actually resting."

"Ill rest after I finish, there's not to much left to do. Come on, lets go see what the reward is for solving the 'Monster' problem"

Leo proceeds to idly start doing experiments with more mana testing getting moving with the others whenever they are ready.
Casually conjuring strange lights and big green hats, Strange disks and CD like objects, condensing fluids and powder into harddrive disks, albeit with gaps in between each test to gather significant amounts of mana. He checks chains and mixes various blobs of magic together, while muttering about cameras, data storage, and weapons. This continues right up until he slams together a magic which is spilling liquid electromagnetism, with one of the ones he had been testing, some kind of mana which creates harddrive disks out of nothing. As soon as the two masses started to swirl and mix into one, it exploded into roiling liquid electricity that made a beeline for Leo himself.

Leo falls to the ground with a yelp and scream as what is more or less homing electric napalm splashed onto his arms and face, which he pushed and pulled at through the spasms and kicking as he tried to remove it. Hes certainly had worse, but it sure dident feel good.

    "AhG f-ffuakck belghhafe stupiaahhh mothe-ahhgGg"
He eventually SOMEHOW gets most of it off containing the worst of it in barely stable bubbles of force he is straining to hold together as his spams and sputtering slowly subside.
The remaining droplets not large or powerful enough to hurt him to badly.

Once he finally can kinda control himself properly again he sits up panting, wiping the drool from his mouth and trying (And failing) to shake off some of the drops that are still making his flesh tingle and a few muscles spasm.

"Right...Right. Li-LightninGggg, Cyber and StOne. T-hAt makes sense."
Leo eventually pulls himself up with a groan, and continues along. as the liquid taze mass slowly 'evaporates' into nothing, twisting and fading into the void.

  20. ---------------------
    Leo
    ---------------------
"Animal intelligence can vary, but it can be fairly complex. Though Im not an expert on the subject its not unheard of for animals to learn to construct complex tools or preform spellcasting. A rare few can even talk unassisted. In addition to using telepathy or other methods to talk to and command animals and plants there are also types of magic used by communers and druids and the like, that sometimes involve increasing an animal's or plant's intellect, often to help create familiars."

"Here let me try, Im closer and I need the practice anyways"
Leo closes his eyes and lays a hand on Tod's head, trying to get basic communing or telepathy going to see where they live.

    ---------------------
    Takumi
    ---------------------
Takumi rings the bell once, twice, three times.
"Is anyone here? I hope the place is open."

  21. Leo slowly stops the levitation and gently sets the fox down in his arms, checking the tag for an address or anything else that might help find out where they came from.
When he finds none he looks around and nods to himself

"Lets head back to the shop, If this issent our target, then we can come back and look more."

Leo walks over and pats the dog's head.
"Thanks for helping us find him buddy"
He makes sure to check the dog's tag to.

  22. Leo chuckles and moves up to it properly, putting snow away
"Its not even blood. It just a can of paint it got into. Careful, this might not be our problem, Ill get the can off, you guys keep an eye out in case anything decidedly more threatening shows up"
"Or maybe it just scratched at everything it heard out of panic from being blinded"

Shape Solid. Just Split and unwrap the can into a long strip to remove it
Once he gets the can off, Leo keeps it held up for a bit longer to examine it and make sure its actually alright.

  23. Leo keeps his magical grip on it and slowly approaches, trying to get a better look at the thing.
"If its an actual object stuck on it, it should be trivial for me to remove it."

Leo activates the Terrarian Scouter to get a better look

    Spoiler

As an action the user can activate a level 1 Analyze spell, once per encounter. The user gains +1 Res vs Analyzed enemies for every empty action slot they have. Set Bonus: When worn with two other pieces of Terrarian Gold armor(chest and other) requires no action slot and the user gains two action slots that may only be used for actives.

    Spoiler

Analyze: Leo cast a spell which allows him to gather data about a machine, technological or golemic system, enchantment, or other object in his immediate vicinity. Gaining relevant information . This also allows him to spot any anomalies or abnormalities in said targets. This ability does not require a success roll to succeed, but it does require a quality roll to determine the value of information gained. This ability constitutes both as a magical check, and an intelligence check. Limit five uses per encounter.

Level 2: Analyze can now give leo partial or complete blueprints (and other knowlage items) of things scanned, with a higher chance for complete blue prints on smaller, less complex parts, or when a specific part of a greater machine is focused on. Additionally, All data gained with this spell may be broadcasted to any nearby compatible core or computer. Such as snow, or the golemic arm mounted computer.

Leo breaks into a sprint after it, while pulling his sunplate sample from his pocket, and casting glowing mana from it at the creature
In other words, Leo uses Channel to levitate the creature off the ground, in an attempt to render it helpless and unable to run, while he catches up

    Spoiler

Thaum > Sunplate This mana type cause things to levitate at a fairly consistent height, more mana = further from the ground

Spend 3 Effort to drastically improve the results of the check

    Takumi

    ----------------------------------

Takumi looks at the fountain for a moment, then steps back far enough away from the fountain he won't actually cut it, points his weird gunsword-sandblaster-jet-cutter at the water, and turns the 'Blade' on for a few moments, to blow away some of the thick film on the top so he can see down into the bottom
