  1. I'd like to use this, but there's no way I'll drop the weather mod pack. :(

    What did you change in the Scripts.rxdata file exactly? Due to the weather mod pack's modular approach, it's very possible (and easy, actually) to maintain compatibility between this and that mod. If you have the time, you may want to check out how Waynolt created his modules and instead of modifying the Scripts.rxdata file itself, create a module to incorporate your changes in that same compatible way.

  2. I got a little something for you:

    Originally, I only wanted to create a mod that added an additional setting to the Options menu to allow me to switch between keyboard and classic text input on the go and works with your Scripts mod so I could play using only my Steam Controller, without ever having to put it down. (The overlay keyboard the Steam Controller allows you to use doesn't work in Reborn.) Then, I found a certain modded boolean in your ExpShareFullTeam mod and figured I'd add an option for it, too.

    So here you go. Feel free to add this to your mod pack, but mention me in the ReadMe. :)

    AdditionalOptions-TextInput-ExpShare: allows the player to choose between keyboard (default) and classic text input as well as between the original (default) and modern Exp. Share full team formula in the Options menu.

    ExpShareFullTeamWithOptions: replaces ExpShareFullTeam and is required to make the Modern formula option work.

    Might be better to simply merge those two, like you did with ChooseStarter and NoTMXNeeded, but I'll leave that up to you.

    AdditionalOptions-TextInput-ExpShare.rb

    ExpShareFullTeamWithOptions.rb

    EDIT: Oh, also, it would be pretty rad if you'd add some kind of changelog thingy you keep expanding with every update. Something like "added module X" and "fixed a bug in module Y".

    Actually, it would make more sense if the pokemon in the shared box were marked as owned as well... ok, changed it so that the Pokedex gets updated with the mons in the shared box.

    That's a pretty solid change, thanks for that!

    However, you may want to add a check whether the Pokémon in the shared box that you're about to add to the Pokédex is actually an egg. Right now, you're adding the Pokémon contained in eggs to the Pokédex, too.

  4. Spoiler

    Transforming a Ditto into a Minior and having it change shape (from Meteor to Core, anyway - I didn't get to test the reverse) causes the game to confuse the sprites: Instead of appearing as Minior Core Form, it visually turns back into Ditto. I didn't get to test as my last save was too far away for it to make sense, so I can't say whether it retains Minior's stats etc., but it does keep Minior's moves and thus probably transformed stat-wise. That said, I reckon it's just a minor, visual issue, but better safe than sorry!

  5. Spoiler

    Hullo. While strolling through E17 on a new playthrough, I decided to peek at some of the game's internals via RPG Maker XP.

    I found that there's a switch to turn Blitzle (the one you can find to the left of the first arena during stormy weather) into a Wimpod instead, which seems to be initialized along the other variables and switches for "one out of a selection" types of overworld encounters after the first Victoria battle in the Great Hall.
    However, the initialization for this switch looks like this (Pseudocode incoming):

    Free X := Random(0,1)
    If Free X = 1 Do
    	actually a wimpod/10 := true
    	actually a wimpod/10 := false
    Else
    	actually a wimpod/10 := false
    End If

    So, unless the switch gets flipped somewhere else, it's currently impossible to get a Wimpod from that overworld event. I hope this helps.

    Why did you fight the thugs who were bullying it when you were planning to have a mono poison run

    Because he's a good person and wants to trade it for some Poison type pokémon! :X

    Do they stay in the position they approached you at? I see possibilities here. Arranging NPCs into patterns, on words?

    They do, until you step into their line of sight again. Arranging NPCs like that might be possible, but probably difficult.

    so we can finally avoid the zubats in caves and the noibats and woobats and all the rest

    That's the exploit I thought of, haha. On the other hand, if you put two to three pokémon with Pickup in your team, you'll eventually drown in Repels anyway, so...

  8. I just traded some eggs and realized I ran into a "funny" situation: While Wonder Trade doesn't allow eggs to be traded, private trades do (which is good, please don't change that!). What private trade doesn't do is checking whether any of the involved players has a team consisting of only eggs after a trade. This would probably have been problematic for me if I hadn't traded from right next to the computer.

    I hope this can be solved without egg trading having to be disabled.

    capture000.png

    ...you could let a player without pokémon, only eggs, on his team start into combat with a Level 1 Exeggcute, for instance. Huehuehue.

    EDIT: I just tested how the game behaves while you only have eggs in your team. Random encounters don't start, neither do trainer battles. However, trainers still approach and talk to you if you walk into their line of sight. And they do so again if you step away from them while still in their line of sight. And again. And again. And again. Heh. Kinda funny.

    Still, this could possibly cause event triggers to misbehave and could easily be exploited, thus should be fixed.

  9. Thank you for all your replies! Thinking about what you wrote, I decided to indeed start anew while keeping the old save file. While I didn't get to start yet, I prepared everything to do so and thinking about playing the game already feels fresh again. :)

  10. Hi guys,

    I'm currently in my first playthrough, somewhere between the sixth and seventh gym battle (not badge). The game has been a blast so far, much more so than the original titles - I need an actual strategy to beat the rivals and gym leaders, for once! Also, the grim setting is highly intriguing and captured me from the very first moment. I want to go on playing to see how the story will go on, but...

    I just can't get myself to do it and don't really know why.

    Lately, my experience playing Pokémon Reborn started to feel like what I call the "Sandbox Syndrome". By that, I mean the phenomenon of having all the options and tools available, like in a sandbox type game, but end up not knowing what to do and losing the drive to do anything.

    I don't know where that came from. After all, the game has pretty straightforward goals: Catch all the Pokémon currently available to you, scout the next challenging encounter, train up a suitable counter team and explore the rest of the world on the way, finding events, sidequests, stuff like that.

    Maybe I just need to get to the next encounter to scout. Maybe I'm in that odd position between clear goals. But whenever I start the game right now to press on, I don't even know which Pokémon to pick.

    To fix that, I tried to theorycraft a competitive team (which I had never done before, actually) to aim for in Reborn. After a couple of weeks, I managed to create a team I think I'd have fun using, but one of the Pokémon integral to that team isn't even in the game yet, and some of them require TMs that aren't in the game either. Or were, kind of, but aren't (I'm looking at you, TM19 Roost). That sent me straight back to the feeling of Sandbox Syndrome, although it shouldn't really apply: I don't have all the options.

    So I figure what's bothering me about the game right now is my aimlessness in regards to building a regular team, the critters you take with you without having to beat a specific foe. I guess that means I should just take whichever Pokémon seem fun with me, but that feels odd, too.

    My guess regarding the reason for that: because I started using Wonder Trade at some point. Before I started my trading thread, I tried to get the (temporarily) mutually exclusive critters that I mised through that trading game of chance and ended up with lots and lots of Pokémon that I didn't catch myself and shouldn't have yet. That might have led to a feeling of disconnection towards the Pokémon at my disposal.

    With all that said, I'm wondering if I should start a new game. A blank slate. I still want to take the temporarily mutually exclusive Pokémon and the other ones I've spent time on breeding with me into that new save game (which is easy enough using both my pc and laptop to trade stuff), but I'm a little worried the Sandbox Syndrome would just come back at some point; it's the "you're training that Pokémon now, but you'll have to release or trade it because you'll eventually get one with better IVs, nature and sometimes movesets" that has always spoiled part of the fun I had with Pokémon games. But still, catching Pokémon myself and evolving them to get the Pokédex entry through the first specimen I ever caught has always mitigated that - it gave a bit of meaning, usually just enough. to leveling up even Pokémon with sub-par IVs.

    On a different note, I'm considering to use the mod that allows you to pick a different starter. Skarmory is the currently unobtainable Pokémon that has been missing on my team. Otherwise, I considered getting a Sylveon or Clefable, so choosing Eevee or Cleffa through that mod may be an idea. However, I don't know how that would affect the game's balance.

    So, here are my questions, finally:

    1) Other than "don't use Wonder Trade this time around", do you have any advice how I could approach the game? Maybe even without starting anew?

    2) How much would getting a Skarmory, Eevee or Cleffa as a starter impact the balance of the game? Which of them would you suggest to get? I kind of prefer the thought of Eevee over the others, I always considered it a pretty interesting choice for a starter, but I'm not sure. Partly because the team I'd like to build depends on Skarmory (and that TM19 :|), partly because Skarmony probably isn't in the game yet for a reason and grabbig Eevee or Cleffa would just be like getting them through a Wonder Trade.

    If you got this far the conventional way: Thanks for reading through my ramblings. I'm looking forward to reading your thoughts on the above.

    Thank you for the Solrock.  The shiny looks great.  Enjoy your mons.  It looks like the list so far is complete.

    You're welcome! It's just a bummer that the shiny has bad IVs.

    Yep, the list is complete - I'll edit it right away. :) Thank you a huge lot!

    I can now give you a good Cottenee, Seel and Vullby if you still need them.

    Oh dear, I wasn't able to check the forum for a while. Yep, I still do need them - but I didn't get to play either, so I don't really have anything to offer in exchange...

  13. Some psychic stuff packs an extra punch on the field of Kiki's arena. However, when using ghost or psychic types, watch out for her counters to that type. They can hurt badly. :|

    That said, I think you can get Meditite before encountering her. That one might be pretty neato in that arena.

    Oops, I meant Carvana.  Sorry about that.  Already have a Drillbur, but not a Carvana yet.  I'm not sure why I typed that.

    No harm done, hehe. Just finished breeding them, but I need to get working now. The moment I find a time window to make the trade, I'll send you a private message.

    EDIT: Thanks for the trades! :)

    If you don't mind, could I get a Frillish and a Drillbur?  Don't worry if you can't do it now.  Just message me when you can.  Have a good day in the meantime.

    Thanks! While I can breed you a Frillish right away (until I get interrupted by the aforementioned work, ha), Drilbur is actually among the Pokémon I'm still looking for.

    I can now trade you an Azuril and a shroomish, if you still need them.  While the Azurill's should all be 5IV at least, I will probably get a mix of 4 and 5's with Shroomish.  I haven't even hatched the eggs I have yet, so I can tell you more specifics when you respond.

    Yup, I still need those! :) Do you want anything specific for them?

    EDIT: Although I'm not entirely sure how soon I'll get to start the game. Might get today's first call to work any minute now.

    It's me again. I'm interested in a 5IV Bulbasaur. I can trade an Oshawott (Egg Moves - Air Slash and Night Slash) for it.

    I got one boxed. If you're available for trade right now, shoot me a private message, wait for a trade request and it'll be yours in a moment's notice!

    Thank you for the surprise shiny!  Enjoy those two.

    You're welcome, hehe. It was actually the first Staryu to hatch in the one batch I bred, and pretty much the best among them as well. :)

    Thank you for the trade! I especially took a liking to Trevenant when I fought it in the gym battle, so having that one is especially nice.

    At the moment, I don't have anything to else to spare from your list, so I will take any IV's on the staryu.  Two 5IV's for a 6IV and random IV mon (that I don't have yet) is fair.  I can breed it up myself later.

    Alright, got your Axew and Staryu ready. I'll start waiting for trade requests after this post, the online name's Aironfaar.
