I don't think Metal Gear had many true villains. Save for Volgin, Skullface, Huey, and Sundowner.

Revolver Ocelot just did everything because he loved Big Boss. Liquid just wanted to overcome an Inferiority Complex.

Even the Patriots had a grand view of the world they wanted to create. It was a dull world, but you can see where they are coming from.
