  1. Plus Scizor can heavily dent all those bar Talonflame and Charizard (lured on, outspeed and OHKOed by Serperior) with Superpower (that will also hit Heatran, Empoleon and Excadrill, all common Scizor Switch-ins), or grab momentum with U-turn, likely to Serperior that will finish them off via HP rock. Of course, this means switching to Choice Band or Life Orb Roost+3 attacks Scizor.

Unboosted Coba Berry Serperior doesn't actually OHKO Talonflame (80 - 99%) and Charizard Y (70 - 82%) with HP Rock. Life Orb is better IMO, especially since Talonflame beats you if the opponent uses Flare Blitz instead of Gale Wings.

  2. Hyper Beam does 32 -38% to Exeggutor and Rest can work just fine in Gen 1, if you don't let your Mewtwo in on a Pokemon that can threaten it. What are Alakazam or Chansey gonna do to a sleeping Mewtwo? They can maybe 4HKO it at best. Edit: Scrap that, their standard sets 6HKO it. Also, add in Starmie, it's attacks do nothing to Mewtwo too.

At +2 Psychic does as much damage as Hyper Beam to Starmie, Blizzard does more damage than Hyper Beam to Alakazam and it OHKOs Exeggutor. Hyper Beam just takes a valuable move slot away and gives you nothing in return, you can barely beat Chansey with it anyways, play Submission for that or just spam Psychic for the special drop.

  3. It literally fails at 2HKOing Chansey 80% of the time. Possibly the worst move ever.

Just use Amnesia Mewtwo with Psychic/Blizzard. You're better of Amnesia'ing to +6 and then spam Psychic against Chansey, but even then you still have a high chance of losing to it. Mewtwo can beat Chansey with Submission, otherwise no bueno.

  4. I'm saying it again. Hyper Beam is not good on special Mewtwo and physical Mewtwo is inferior. Mew does that role better. Hyper Beam doesn't net KOs against the important Pokemon if they haven't lost >40% of their HP already. Then you lose a turn, which could cost you the best Pokemon in the game. It's absolutely not worth it.

  5. Corrosive Acid

    Type: Poison

    Special

    BP: 80

    PP: 20

    Accuracy: 100%

Hits Steel-type Pokemon for super effective damage, has 10% chance to badly poison the enemy. Freeze-Dry clone (to level the playing field, Freeze-Dry would be buffed from 70 to 80 BP too and be available to all Ice-type Pokemon). Learnable by every Poison type Pokemon and most Grass types (Move Tutor).

  6. Running Rest over Recover solves that problem. Hyper Beam is problematic because it will only do a bit over 50% to Chansey and Starmie, plus you sacrifice a turn. If you really want to nail Chansey you can run Submission, which is much better for that purpose. Blizzard is normally the better coverage move, it packs enough power to 2HKO Alakazam at +2, OHKOs Exeggutor and gives you a shot at freezing your opponent.

  7. you can simply send a ghost with false swipe like shedinja and honedge (assuming they are catchable, speaking of wich, it is true that some pokemon canot be found even on post game, dratini being one? that's evil...)

Yes, under the pretext of making the game "too easy". It's total bullshit, but well, for now we have to deal with it.

  8. When I came here in February, I went onto the server for a laugh, and tried to figure out who was who. I heard about this 'Bibs', but I could not for the life of me discern who he might be. I saw a range of odd pseudonyms, from 'Azery' to 'Zumi' to 'Viridescent' to 'Ody'. But who was this elusive Bibs? This person who everyone seemed to know, everyone seemed to admire, even. I figured whoever he might be, he must be a gracious, honoured individual for whom people's respect knew no bounds...

Same :> I kept wondering who this elusive Bibs might be, for he was everywhere and peope kept talking about him all the time. He sure is a reborn celebrity!

I've only known you for a bit more than a month Bibs, but you're easily one of the most fun to chat with people on the server and forum. Never change, you memespouting, bibarel posting, Donald Trump loving Belgian! Happy birthday, Bibs.

  9. Mmh, the whole exoplanet development is interesting because we now know that probably most stars in the universe have planets, with many being earth-like. There are estimated to be up to a billion rocky planets in the habitable zone in our galaxy alone. For me that pretty much confirms that life has to have developed somewhere else as well.

  10. http://bulbapedia.bulbagarden.net/wiki/Magnet_Rise_%28move%29

All Pokemon who learn this move can fly or at least float by creating strong electric currents and inducing magnetic force. Interestingly this involves some Pokemon you wouldn't expect to be able to do this, like Aurorus, Larvesta or Riolu. But honestly, all attempts at scientifically explaining Pokemon break down at some point and we enter the realm of literal magic. Most moves are just not realistic and reconciling game mechanics with lore proves hard if not impossible.

Also, I'm pretty sure OP didn't intend for this to turn into a conversation about Pokemon when he started the thread. That fits more into the Pokemon Fan Club anyways.

I'm utterly terrible at picking a starting topic, and I know it's old news, but how about the discovery of gravitational waves, which also simultaneously proved the existence of black holes if I'm not mistakebe. I wouldn'the surprised if a Noble Prize was headed their way.

Yeah, that was pretty exciting. The first real detection of gravitational waves, after the BICEP2 report from a few years back turned out to be wrong. It's nice to have definite proof and another experimental confirmation of Relativity (even though it wasn't exactly unexpected). Little nitpick: the existence of Black Holes has been pretty much confirmed for 20 years anyways.

  11. A predefined character is almost always better, especially in Pokemon games, where the "customization" is literally inconsequential. The supposedly biggest point of Pokemon, the Pokemon itself, are secondary in pretty much any fan- or canon game and your choices barely or don't matter at all. Honestly? I'd much rather have a set team of Pokemon who actually make sense in the context of the story and play a character that actively affects the story with them. Silent self insert protagonists don't create immersion, they break it in the worst way possible. And immersion is key to enjoyment in games I want to play.

  12. Mmh, Serperior has Contrary Leaf Storm though and Blaziken can single handedly wreck 90% of the game, so giving the less powerful starters (cough cough Meganium) a few boons wouldn't be bad. Also "this point of the game"? Episode 15 ends with a Lvl 85 cap, at this point in the game some of the starters are actually dead weight.
