As a bit of advice, it's always wise to soft reset when mining, simply because you can guarantee you will get a decent item. Since you already got yourself a Sun Stone, you should be fine though.

No, it should be entirely random, though using a certain item on the parents (Destiny Knot?) makes them pass it down to the child. It should be a one in twenty fire chance.

Is it ok that my emboar has only recoil damage moves?

That's kind of funny, my Scrafty is pretty similar with High Jump Kick and Head Smash. Recoil moves shouldn't effect your friendship though. -
