  1. I'm just gonna throw this out there because I haven't seen it talked about before. The first thing I read about killing these high level hardass bosses was using a Rattata with Endeavor. But this involves using (and wasting) a focus sash. Sadly in episode 15, I never found a focus sash. So I ended up breeding a male lvl34 Rattata with a female Phanpy. Breed them until you get one with the pickup ability. Then level it up to lvl25 and let it evolve to Donphan. That grants you a low level pokemon with sturdy and endeavor. Then you can use it to do all sorts of stuff. Use Toxic, Leech Seed, Priority Move, ... Whatever you have handy in your team.
  2. That's cool. Hadn't heard that before.
  3. Really? I haven't experienced money to be a real issue in Reborn. How much is the daycare lady asking you to cough up?
  4. Oohhh we got one lvl100. That's quite the feat. You will receive the award of ultimate patience!
  5. This is not the easiest game to clear so I can imagine people breed their Pokemon for good IV's and sexy moves. Not every breeding process requires the use of Ditto, but many of the iconic ones do. The downtime between episodes makes breeding a nice little side job to do. So let's hear it, how hard has your Ditto leveled in the daycare center??
  6. I was really hoping to get a Kingdra myself but then the game ended with getting Fly and I didn't account for it so it made me level up a Swanna to be my Fly and Surf Slave and still have it able to cover Water and Flying Type (with air slash) as a possible Sweeper. Reading your post made me happy I didn't get it hehe.

I can see your point. In my experience I didn't need to use NP every fight. It just one shots stuff just the way it is. And of course I don't set it up against every opponent. I really needed it against SwagSire from Terra because of it's hax stats. And yes I needed the 50% luck there. Obviously Alakazam has the more popular pull, and that always has a very good reason. I guess I'll wait for the game to open up the Saphira battle to open up to reclaim on Jynx popularity!
  8. Had the same thing with my Garbodor at about the same time in the game. It helped me get very far early game though but it's not cutting it anymore so he's about lvl53 sitting in the PC with a Poison Barb I should take away from it but just can't!!

So it's the same. Jynx has a 50% chance to set up (if needed) and Alakazam also has a 50% chance to set up (how many special attackers do you meet in Reborn?) and has less coverage (unless you dive in other episodes) so more need to set up. Not saying Jynx is the better Pokemon. They're just different. Just as good. Alakazam should not be the obvious choice over Jynx. Some teams or play styles might call for one and some might call for the other.

Hmm I think it's a different story with Gardevoir and Alakazam. If I had an Alakazam, I wouldn't want to rely solely on it's level up moves. I want Focus Blast, Energy Ball, Shadow Ball on them. Sadly, I have yet to encounter these TM's (in episode 15). Which makes Alakazam kinda bad in coverage with only Grass Knot as a good TM for coverage or having to get lucky with Hidden Power. Jynx on the other hand relies on Frost Breath only as a TM which you get rather early in the game. So I'd say holding off evolution to swap out your Pokemon and level it a bit is kinda boring work I agree. If I had an Alakazam, I would already by checking the forums how to get some of these good moves on it by diving in other episodes and getting the TM's there. I have no experience with that, but that already seems like more work to me than breeding for one move and power leveling it to 38 at least (which you would have to do anyway to your Abra when you finally get it much later at 7th street). Gardevoir is another story, and I have to totally agree with you argument for this Pokemon. It covers 3 types by it's level up move pool and doesn't require TM's or breeding to be very useful. I would breed one for strong IV's anyway but that's less of a hassle to do than IV's AND a move like you do on a Jynx. It just covers different types. If your team could use Psychic / Grass / Fairy, Gardevoir is the right pokemon for you. If you team could use Psychic / Ice / Setup with Nasty Plot in the team, Jynx is the right Pokemon for the team.
  11. I think Fern's douchiness grows with the character which gives you time to adjust to him so your hatred can grow gradually. By the time you meet Blake, we are all kinda used to the setting and you get a feeling he's not gonna go far. Which he didn't! Oops spoiler. What caught me off guard were the douchebags who stole the Pokemon I just bought at the start of the game. My rainbow view of the Pokemon world got shattered by those two scammers right there ...

Thanks for the welcome! There's a big difference to Cryogonal and Jynx in terms of versatility though. And you are absolutely right that it takes some getting used to handling a fragile Pokemon. It is a shame that Gardevoir and Alakazam seem to be the go-to Psychic Types for most Reborn Players. Some even use Reiniclus in a Trick Room team. But I believe Jynx is right next to Alakazam when you decide which Psychic Sweeper you want to have.

Hi everyone, I'm a new Reborn player. Downloaded the game about 2 weeks ago and played through episode 15 up until the end. Restarted the game once after shade because I noticed I should have done a little more planning with my team. So I did just that and put a team together. To gather information I have visited this forum a lot of times. I see people's teams in their signatures and I love how the devs have taken away overly powerful Pokemon like Gengar, Azumarill and Gyarados as they would otherwise make it to every team. What I do wonder though is why Jynx doesn't get a lot of love. I'd like to think that I have a pretty solid team, but Jynx really is my superstar. Yes it's a total glass canon so you have to be careful with it. But in the right hands, this Pokemon can be a lot more canon than glass. So I thought about making my first post on this forum a promo for my favorite Pokemon in Reborn Episode 15. Let's look at my Jynx: Moveset: Nasty Plot (I found my Jynx with this move which was like wooooot, but if for some reason your Smoochum doesn't have it, you can easily get it by getting a Croacrunk and leveling it a bit.) Frost Breath (Oh my god, the only good move Jynx lacks is a good Ice move. Beat the Ice Gym and booya you get in my opinion the strongest Ice move in the game.) Psychic (Please don't let your Smoochum evolve until level38. This is a must have!) Lovely Kiss (Start out with Sing, and pay the man in Agate Circus one Heart Scale to get this move instead. It is so worth it.) Nature: Modest (It has enough speed to outspeed most enemies in the game so pack on the punch I'd say.) Stats: (I think I'm going to state out the obvious here.) EV's and IV's HP: 6/22 Attack: 0/1 Defense: 0/30 Sp. Atk: 252/31 Sp. Def: 0/21 Speed: 252/31 Let's look at the pros and cons together. PRO: It has super high speed. Without having to spend your nature on it. It's Dual Type adds on more than one move for STAB so it becomes more versatile than most Psychic types when it comes to One-Shotting. Having a 75 Accuracy sleep move like Lovely Kiss, combined with Nasty Plot with an already high Sp. Atk? Yeah it's booya time. This is a great combo to overcome any bossfight. It absolutely destroyed 3 of the last 4 Gym Leaders. Samson just by being a Psychic Type, Terra with the Lovely Kiss - Nasty Plot - Blast Combo (this one was the hardest), and Ciel with Ice Type. TwistedSpoon and NeverMeltIce are really easy to get and early accessible. More punch!! Pokemon who jump in your lap are great. You can save the game and restart until you have good EV's and/or Nature. Early-ish obtainable in the game. I really started breeding and using mine after I had gotten the Ice Badge (6th Gym). CON: It probably has the most annoying sound effect when it enters the battle. Use it too much and you get headaches. You have been warned! It's a bitch to breed. Smoochum can't breed so you have to level it to 30 to get a Jynx. Then you have to be careful not to let overleveling by the Daycare Lady overwrite your Nasty Plot move. Also you have to pair it with a Ditto or a Humanshape Type which makes producing eggs slower than putting two of the same Pokemon together. It's also a bitch to train EV's. I did it at Pyrous Mountain for Sp. Atk which took a lot of swapping out. It's really fragile. Jynx is the queen of one shotting things. Weak to Ice or Psychic? One Shot! Low Sp. Def? One Shot! But it is also the queen of getting one shotted. Almost anything kills it in one hit. The point is not getting that hit, but that's your job. Sucker Punch. If you encounter a Porkeman with Sucker Punch, the lame thing to do is restart fight and hope AI does something else, which will work eventually. The cool thing to do is own it with Lovely Kiss. Accuracy can cause your Jynx to fail sometimes. Frost Breath has a 90% hit rate and Lovely Kiss has a 75% one. Sturdy + Physical Attack move. Jynx has bad Abilities. I have Forewarn on mine but it hasn't been all that useful. Just hope it points out Sucker Punches!! Conclussion: It's Pros outway it's Cons enormously. The worst part about it is building it. The breeding and EV training process took a tad longer than it did my other Pokemon. The other Con's I've listed are in my experience really situational and rare. The sucky ability doesn't take away the fact that his Pokemon is the Queen Sweeper One Shotter of d00000M. For those that like a good Sweeper on their team, try out some Jynx!
