Yeah, I got a Staryu out of the Mystery Egg, but I've already got Marshtomp. I'd rather not double up on types if I can help it. As for the current episode, where would that end? Don't worry about spoilers in this part of the game, I've done everything up to I think Charlotte before.

The current episode nets you the 17th badge by the end, which puts your cap at level 95.

And Staryu's good, but I can understand wanting to not double up. In that case, you will have to get past Charlotte in order to get yourself an Elekid and then a little further to get the Electrizer to evolve it into an Electivire, so you have a ways to go, unfortunately. Looking ahead, you have Poison, Ice, and Normal coming up, so prepare for those. It may not be a bad idea to have a temporary replacement lined up for Roselia, but it isn't something you should need to worry about either, especially with Swampert stomping through things. You seem to be pretty well set, best of luck!

Not really going for a big strategy, just want a nice balanced team of mons I like.

My first time playing through I had a Meowstic F and she fell off really hard in the later part of the game, so was wondering when I should bench her. As for Charjabug I'd love to have an Electivire at some point to be my Electric type, as it's my all time favorite Pokemon. But iirc, you can't get one till MUCH later. Also my last playthrough I think I had an Escavalier. Was pretty fun, so might add one to this team. As for Inkay, I think that might be a good replacement for Meowstic. Unfortunatley a lot of my favorites are still down the road. Been toying with the idea of adding a Dusknoir to the mix at some point. I'm open to any more suggestions!

Have you done the Mystery Egg sidequest? There is a chance to get Elekid from the egg and even if you don't get it, odds are good that you'll get SOMETHING nice. Otherwise Electivire is indeed quite far down the road (8 more badges iirc). Other than that, you're looking pretty solid. Ursaring might not last too much longer, but you can almost certainly keep that one up through the current episode.

Awesome, thanks! Any potential new team members I should know about? How long should I keep some of these guys?

Plenty, you're going to have Inkay available shortly (headbutt trees in the next area you get to explore) and that's a particularly fun 'mon to use. I've personally had good success with Alolan Marowack and Escavalier (catch a Shellmet on Azurine island, the opportunity to trade is coming up shortly), but that's probably because I'm running Trick Room.

As far as "How long", however long you like. Granted, there are still likely to be some pokemon that'll underperform going forward. You won't be able to evolve Charjabug into Vikavolt until another four badges from now (at earliest). Meowstic F is likely reaching the end of her usefulness as well, but you shouldn't be in any hurry to find a replacement.

Any particular strategy or ideas that you want to pursue for your team going forward? Any pokemon that you particularly like?

I got a Vulpix from the mystery egg so I was set lol @Autumneverlast Agate Circus has a person who will trade you a Vulpix for a Stunfisk if I remember correctly. If you want I could always trade you one after you've beaten Flobot.

I keep forgetting that trading is a thing. I might be able to run with a weather team, but that would require me to take a step back and think about team comp for a bit. Current team ideas are just a loose collection of pokemon with complementary typings. Might be good to run a cohesive strat instead.

If you like Ninetales/Sun setters, I highly suggest Charizard. Dude's heat waves do ridiculous amounts of damage, cleanly carried my team for numerous boss fights before and after evolving.

I'm one upping Azery here and suggesting instead Eruption Typhlosion + Drought. My Typhlosion has one shot everything so far with the sun up. There are only a few times I remember needing to use two Eruptions for anything and those are usually just huge Sp. Def tanks. Not even resistances can help you vs Sun + Eruption some times.

I like these suggestions, what's the earliest I could get Sun access? Prankster with Meowstic with Sunny Day? Hope to goodness I get Vulpix out of the Mystery egg?

Though that all being said, I would also have to rework the rest of the team...

  6. Alrighty, so I'm hearing that Fennekin and Popplio should be my go-to 'mons for starters, going to lean towards Popplio because it's new and water type fitting in with my other choices. Currently looking at a lategame team with Silvally, Metagross, Aegislash, and two others that I'm still figuring out (Dragonite would be a big contender if it were available a little earlier).

Any advice on gen 7 mons to try out along the way? Thoughts on the team comp?

  7. Hey all, been playing Reborn since E15 and recently came back to the game. A little bit seems to have changed (GEN 7!) so I figured I'd start a new run, my current one having stalled out shortly before Amaria. I'm excited to pick up some of the new Gen7 mons and try them out, but before I can do that, I need to pick a starter. I've narrowed it down to:

Charmander (Gen 1 nostalgia, solid special attacker)

Fennekin (solid special attacker, psychic typing is great)

Popplio (I've heard this one is good? Fairies are awesome too...)

Rowlett (Similar to Popplio only with ghosts instead of fairies)

Froakie (solid 'mon with Protean, but water types early game are tough)

Any opinions? Any Gen 7 pokemon I should watch out for? Any new early pokemon that you guys really like?

  8. Doing a fresh playthrough of Reborn and got a tentacool out of my mystery egg. Went "Yay" because bulky water type, but have gotten steadily less excited as I've done more research. What do you guys think of it as a pokemon and potential team member for Reborn?

  9. I do know there's only one (for me anyways) trainer in the Grand Hall that you can fight after defeating Corey and before Shade. Anyone is free to correct me on this though.

    Psychic Silva

Mawile- Level 35- Iron Defense, Baton Pass, Crunch, Feint Attack

Xatu- Level 36- Wish, Air Slash, Confuse Ray, Psychic

Sneasel- Level 39- Screech, Slash, Beat Up, Hone Claws

They should rotate every day. Sometime just one trainer, sometimes as many as three. If you're consistently only getting that one trainer, that's probably a bug.

  10. WELCOME!

You're not the only one looking forward to the day megas are introduced, probably in version 16 17 18 whenever. As for Arceus, you probably won't be facing one of those until near the end of the storyline, probably in a horrifyingly nasty field that leaves it with a stupid amount of advantages. But until then, content yourself beating the snot out of that ditto and enjoy your time here!

  11. Tbh I love the puzzles. Sure, some are infuriating and make me rip my hair out, but the satisfaction of finally solving it is the best thing EVER.

I will also still never get over the fact that ampharos has saved me COUNTLESS times.

Because of this game I have developed such a new respect for all the pokemon I've never used.

SPECIAL S/O TO AMPHY AND TRUBBISH. ILU.

Special mentions from me go to Kricketune, Arcanine, Ampharos, Scrafty, Pangoro, and Camerupt. For absolutely exceeding expectations and turning what would be frustrating fights into pieces of cake.

I mean I like Trubbish too, but I never got a long term run going with one so I don't know...

  12. I applaude your maturity level. Some would throw out a "don't tell your bf that" joke, but you didn't. Unfortunately I did =P

I wasn't in a playful mood at the time, so I wasn't going to pick up on that one. Though of course, I'm laughing now. :P

Was mostly in "MAXIMUM HELP" mode, combined with not being completely sure where to find that last object.

  13. I can't find the bed...

There's a building towards the bottom left side of town, right by the entrance, that is blocked by a tree. Walk up to that tree, it should disappear and the bed will be inside that building. Or at least I think that's where the bed is. Let me know if I've led you astray.

  14. It has to be a windy night from my experience, then every encounter after that one must be without wind, I personally found it in the daytime on clear days. If you check Youtube, there's a very helpful (if a little annoying) video done by Nickaboo. The method has not changed.

  15. There's also the possibility of wanting to relationize a male character, which means Ame will probably need to include a HOST of characters, so that Husbandos can be chosen just as easily as Waifus. So while I'd love to see some post game celebration and want so badly to give Shelly/Charlotte/Amaria a hug, we're probably not going to necessarily get customized endings (PLEASE CORRECT ME AME-SEMPAI THIS WOULD STILL BE REALLY AWESOME).

It is, however, entirely possible that we can take a character of our choice out to a falling star show or something for a fun night out, romance possible based on the player's imaginations and some interesting dialogue options depending on the character. I think that would be quite doable (and quite fun) without being a heck of a lot more work (some dialogue and sprite stuff). But this is all still WAY in the future, for when Ep16 Ep17 Ep18 EpWhatever comes out.

  16. I actually did it without a Focus Sash, though it cost me a Max Revive instead, so depends on what you think of as more worth it (and this is mostly because I forgot to pick it up).

Started the fight off with a Sturdy Sawk Counter, swapped into Swalot for a free Toxic while he healed, revived Sawk, sac'd a couple more pokemon, then countered for a KO.

Yes, this wasn't real efficient compared to a Quick Claw RNG hax Destiny Bond or Perish Song, but I made do with what I had, dangit.

  17. You don't have anything missing from the list for Reborn and there's no easy way to go about getting anything with perfect IVs except soft resetting and recatching. Especially in the case of Ditto. The one bit of advice I can contribute is to carry around a pokemon with Flame Body or Magma Armor in your party to make eggs hatch faster.

It's just going to take a lot of time and effort on your part. Best of luck.

  18. this isn't quite you, but I get the feeling that this is probably closer to your tastes.

I'll agree that it isn't perfect (which makes me sad), but I really like it. Reminds me a lot of the music from Golden Sun, especially areas like Venus Lighthouse and the Mines. Going on my list for sure, but I'm still up for another theme.
