  1. First few attempts she completely obliterated me, and then i started to kind of figure out how to work the AI, still took some resets, but i let with dusknoir and magnezone, and the AI would "usually" target magnezone with fire type moves, so i would swich in my Flash Fire Arcanine and have musknoir set up trick room, and from there it actually a good chance of victory, from there i would swich out dusknoir into quagsire o he could set up that rain with his newly found super speed. After about 10ish more tries, i managed to beat her. I did have to swich out drapion for arcanine, which i thankfully had at around level 51, had tot rain it up to about 67 in the woods outside, but it turned out to be a great asset.

  2. I'd personally go for a faster grass type, like Whimsicott, or a well bred Roserade(by that I mean the right moves).

I don't know where you're at in the story but there's a scope lens available in the Derpartment Store(not sure which floor)

I have beaten Terra and waiting for episode 15. I'll check the department store when i get home for the scope lense.

  3. Dusnkoir would appreciate Hex. Hex+willowisp is a good combo. You really don't need priority.

No Rock Smash, Hone Claws or SD are good options, and night slash instead of crunch with a scope lens.

Bulk Up instead of strenght. You can also use facade.

Change the ability to analytic and the nature to quiet. Give it screech and charge beam instead of twave/triattack.

A physical variant is way better with dragon dance, dragon claw, flare blitz and shadow claw.

No surf, get avalanche and curse via avalugg. You really don't need fighting coverage when you have a conkeldurr.

This thing is really not great. Just use it as HM slave, it's definitely not going to help a lot in the battle field. Instead, a grass type like roserade or lilligant wil really come in handy.

Dusknoir: Will replace Shadow Sneak with Hex, that does sound like a better option.

Drapion: Don't have a scope lense on hand at the moment, but that sounds like a good idea, will give it a try.

Conkeldurr: I'll give it Bulk Up instead of Strength now that I am aware HMs work like TMs now =).

Magnezone: I actually prefer sturdy, as it let's magnezone get attacks off on pokemon that would normally OHKO him. I'll give an Analytic version a try though. I also do like thunder wave, as it let's me cripple faster pokemon

Charizard: I like my charizard as a special attacker, i considered physical variant, but overall just personally prefer special charizard for this team.

Swampert: I'll begin the breeding process of trying to get avalanche and curse on the swampert.

Quagsire: Don't judge, this guy got me through a good number of tough spots in this playthrough so far =P.

A grass type to rotate in when needed is probably a good idea, i do have a bublasaur sitting in my box at the moment, how does venasaur fare in reborn?

  4. Here is my almost finished team (still need to EV train) for episode 15. I don't remember there IVs at the top of my head but I will edit this post later today when I get home from work.

    Dusknoir

Pressure / Calm / Spooky Plate

    Planned EVs: 252HP/204SpDef/54Def

Moves: Shadow Sneak, Will-o-Wisp, Ice Punch, Trick Room

    Drapion

Battle Armor / Adamant / Black Sludge

    Planned EVs: 252HP/252Def

Moves: Cross Poison, Crunch, Bug Bite, Rock Smash

    Conkeldurr

Guts / Adamant / Toxic Orb

    Planned EVs: 252HP/252Atk

Moves: Mach Punch, Drain Punch, Rock Slide, Strength

    Magnezone

Sturdy / Modest / Air Baloons

    Planned EVs: 252SpAtk/252Spe

Moves: Discharge, Flash Cannon, Tri Attack, Thunder Wave

    Charizard

    Blaze / Modest / Charcoal

    Planned EVs: 252SpAtk/252Spe

Moves: Flamethrower, Air Slash, HP Ice, Cut

    Swampert

Torrent / Adamant / Splash Plate

    Planned EVs: 252Atk/252Hp

Moves: Earthquake, Brick Break, Waterfall, Surf

    Quagsire

Unaware / Sassy / Quick Claw

    Planned EVs: 252Hp/252SpDef

    Moves: Earthquake, Yawn, Dive, Surf

(I plan to switch between quagsire and swampert depending if I need waterfall or dive, hopefully there won't be a lot of parts where both HMs are needed).

All suggestions and critisism are welcome. Know that I would like most of the HMs be usable with this team while I am playing reborn, as I'm not really a fan of HM slaves.

  5. Ah, I didn't notice that IP was a tutor move and not an egg move, looks like Dusknoir will be the only one throwing some IPs around. I also didn't know there was a Toxic Orb available in the game, so will definetly look into finding it. Thanks for the help :)

  6. So I am thinking to replace my Machamp with a Conkeldurr, and since i have recently finished episode 14.5, I have some time before episode 15 to breed a decent Conkeldurr.

What I would like to know is exactly how many egg moves will I be able to breed for on the Timbur. I am mainly looking for Ice Punch, Drain Punch, and Mach Punch, as this will be an Iron Fist Conkeldurr. I know I can get Ice and Mach punch from hitmonchan, and Drain punch from mienfoo/mienshao, but I am not sure how to start with the process of breeding these moves onto the end result timbur. I currently have a male mienshao with drain punch, and a male hitmonchan with both mach punch and ice punch, and a female gurdurr. Thanks in advance.

  7. Doesn't Earthquake destroy the field?

Unfortunetly no, in the wasteland field, or whataver its called, earthquake deals x0.25 damage. However if you can find a pokemon that can learn mud bomb, that deals extra damage on that field. The way I beat aya is I went back and caught a wooper and magnemite, and trained them up. Since a good majority of her pokemon are special attackers, quagsire lasted pretty much the whole fight because of amnesia, and yawn really helped, as well as magnetone being able to completely resist the poison type moves. Just have to be carefull of the venasaur since that can do a number to quagsire. I also subbed in a solrock as something that can resist poison and learns psychic. I also trained all of my pokemon to 43/44 before taking her on.

Another thing, if it happens to be raining in your game, look into finding the mudkip event in the wasteland, swampert can be really good in that fight as it learns both nmuddy water and mud bomb early on, both of which deal extra damage on the field you fight Aya on.

  8. could defeat Noel, thanks for the tips

my problem now is with the gym leader psychic type, double battle :(

What i did for him is I didn't have very good type coverage for psychic, so I went back and caught a Drapion, trained it up to 57 so it could learn cross poison, and then tried again, wasn't too bad with him crunching everything. Currently smashing my face against charlette, had to resort to trick room since her entire team out speeds my entire team... and OHKOs most my my team to boot.

  9. Quagsire has earned his spot as my water type, not the absolute best move pool, but it serves it's purpose as an hp wall that eats special attacks for breakfast. The one i caught on that island ended up having 31 IV hp, and 28 IV sp.def, and he managed to pull me through Aya after I got wrecked by her like 20 times and had to go train up some new mons to sub in.

Edit: But still waiting for a rainy day to go grab a mudkip and give swampert a run on my team.

  10. is'nt delphox a special attacker being part psycic and pyroar a physical attacker being part fighting? if im correct, they are and they do two completely different things, i have a flygon a physical attacker and a noivyrn a special attacker they are ok together because they both cover a different type of defence

Pyroar is fire/normal, and his base Sp. Attack is much higher than his base attack, his movepool is also not exactly the greatest, since most of his damage will come from stab flamethrower or hyper voice. He can still be used as physical since his movepool does have take down, fire fang, and crunch, but later on his physical power will be lacking a bit. Overall I would say delphox is better if you had to pick 1, since i like psychic more than hyper voice, plus you get the added benefit of having will-o-wisp, but you can probably get by using them both in the early game of reborn, but later on you might have to sub in or replace one of them to get better type coverage.

  11. I have mostly stuck with the same team, but I did have to sub in some mons for a few battles, and overtime I replaced a few mons when I found ones I liked/wanted more. Hariyama got replaced by machamp, and emolga got replaced with magneton, but when I got to Aya, I had to sub in Solrock and emolga, as well as go catch and train up a quagsire, who has now earned his spot on my team, both for having great HP and SpDef IVs, and also for proving his worth by yawning everything in his path, and then spamming amnesia to just never die, giving him leftovers would be perfect, but still havent found the item. But after Aya, I returned to my usual team and havent had the need to sub in anyone yet. But I would say a good way to play this game is to keep 8-10 mons as your team, you will still have your 6 favorites, but if you have 2-4 other favorites as subs, you will not regret it.

  12. I had Growlithe and Charizard on my team for a decent amount of time, but i had to eventually replace growlithe since i was reaching the levels where all the main battles had all evolved pokemon, and without being evolved growlithe wouldnt stand much of a chance. So nowhe is in the daycare while I go about the story, once he reaches 43 I will pull him out, evolve him, use a heartscale to teach him extreme speed, and probably put him back in the daycare until he is needed so he can stay relatively close to my current level.

  13. Woot, managed to beat her, I also subbed in magneton, which helped out a bunch, but leading with emolga and quagsire gave me a good start to the fight, then magneton got to throw discharges around left and right while quagsire just spammed yawn and amnesia.

Thanks for the advice, onward i go!

  14. So I'm havign some trouble with Aya's poison double battle gym, maily with her dragalge.

    Team:

    1. Charizard(45)(Blaze)(Flying Plate): Wing Attack, Flame Burst, Cut, Dragon Rage

    2. Dusclops(43)(Pressure): Shadow Sneak, Will-o-wisp, Persuit, Rock Smash

    3. Quagsire(41)(Damp): Earthquake, Yawn, Amnesia, Slam (Will probably go catch another one from island, or search for ability capsule)

    4. Solrock(40)(Levitate): Rock Slide, Stone Edge, Psychic, Cosmic Power

    5. Magneton(41)(Sturdy): Charge Beam, Flash Cannon, Magnet Bomb, Metal Sound

    6. Machamp(43)(No Guard): Wake Up Slap, Strength, Dual Chop, Bulk Up

    Backups:

    7. Barbaracle(44)(Tough Claws): Clamp, Rock Smash, Fury Cutter, Night Slash

    8. Emolga(45)(Static): Acrobatics, Volt Switch, Persuit, Shock Wave

    9. Arbok(44)(Intimidate): Glare, Acid Spray, Crunch, Stockpile (Kind of regret not teaching it mud bomb...)

I have a few other pokes in my box but i dont think any of them will be that usefull at this gym. Do you guys have any strategy tips or know of any pokemon that I can catch before and that could be helpfull? The only one I can think of is swinub from the cave by the power plant, which I am thinking to do since it will know ice shard which could help finish off dragalge, and also another earthquake user for the double battle could be handy.
