  1. What if Deino was added as an event earlier in the game? I mean I understand that Hydreigon is a very powerful pokemon, but it does not have that good of a level up move pool and only get's really good when you start getting TMs like dark pulse and flamethrower. Plus that thing is probably the most painful thing to level up aside from noibat, having it's 1st evolution at level 50, and second at 64, and until it becomes a Hydreigon, it's almost as dead of a weight as noibat at higher levels. But I can understand it not being added due to it's late game power, especially once you get some nice TMs to teach it, to me it's just a stronger but slower version of noivern, with a tad more bulk. Plus it will most likely get completely shut down by the later upcoming fairy gym.

  2. On Hariyama: It's bulk and the fact that it get's knock off as a level up move makes it fairly viable.

On Randomus: This guy just mainly caught me offguard with the high level gardevoir, and the fact that with psychic doing rock damage too, it had extremely good coverage against my team, so I literraly went back to get a dark type, drapion in my cast, and he became leagues esier.

On Luna: SHe mianly took me 2 tries cause the first attempt I let malimar get 2 superpowers off and at that point I reset. I didnt have any bug type moves to really take it out, so I mainly just made sure that when she swiched into it, my machamp was at full hp, since he could 2 shot the malimar with dynamic punch, and could take 1 psychic move from it.

  3. In reborn I think the extra power is just a bit more important than that accuracy, too often than not there is a fire type, maybe blaziken, which just doesn't go down to surf but would've to a hydro pump and then wrecks the team. But surf is indeed a very viable alternative, it just depends on what matters more to you. RAW POWER or accuracy (and 5 more pp is nice)

I get what your saying, sometimes you just gotta take a risk, and move like fire blast, hydro pump and so on can really pay off when they hit.

  4. Venoshock might work out on skuntank, since he already has toxic, and it getting both stab and double damage on a poisoned foe can probably still hit pretty hard even if his sp.atk is on the low side, I would probably use the 4th slot for it, keeping flamethrower and night slash.

I think solar power or dry skin would be better than sand veil, which one you choose depends on which pokemon you want to help with the weather. As for moves, I would go with: parabolic charge, dark pulse, thunderbolt, and surf/round. Surf if you use dry skin, and round if you go for solar power.

I would probably go with shadow ball on noivern, as it's rare something resists dragonpulse/boomburst/airslash, flamethrower is another option since the only type i can think of that would resist your other 3 moves is steel.

Also, offtopic here, where did you get that assault vest :P

  5. I'm still stuck on Aya...

So far, i can't get through 3 of her pokemon without my entire team fainting. This is my team currently; I've looked through old posts and tried to swap pokemon around (I added Camerupt and Yamask) and I'm definitely going to do some leveling up but if anyone could recommend any other changes/advice i'd love to hear it im dying i havent played pokemon in a long time

    Blaziken (lv.45 )

    Ability: Speed Boost

Flame Charge / Blaze Kick / Double Kick / Slash

    Meowstic (lv.40 )

    Ability: Infiltrator

    Extrasensory / Shadowball / Psychic / Psyshock

    Camerupt (lv.36 )

    Ability: Anger Point

Lava Plume / Earth Power / Curse / Take Down

    Yamask (lv.32 )

    Ability: Mummy

    Hex / Will-o-Wisp / Ominous Wind / Curse

    Raticate (lv.38 )

    Ability: Hustle

Sucker Punch / Double Edge / Crunch / Super Fang

    Emolga (lv.45 )

    Ability: Motor Drive

Nuzzle / Volt Switch / Acrobatics / Shock Wave

I would say your first step is to get all of your pokemon to 43 or so. For this fight i swapped out my emolga for a magneton since he is immune to sludge wave, which is the most dangerous move in that fight. I would lead of with Meowstic and Magneton/emolga, and take down the tentacruel first. The issue with camerupt is I tihnk the field you fight her makes earth power useless (x0.25 damage), so i would recommend catching a palpitoad from that island you take the boat too, it learns both mud shot and muddy water, both of witch I think gain power in the wasteland field, and muddy water hits only the oposing pokemon. If you do use palpitoad, be carefull of venasaur. Hope this helps.

  6. What? But... what's the point of having sunny day on a charizard with BLAZE?? Solar power is necessary.

I mean it's mostly because I couldnt think of a better move for the 4th move slot, and I don't really feel like breeding this charizard for one with dragon pulse. I ended up making him Timid instead of Modest, and his Item is now a life orb. So sunny day is there, not as a constant thing, but more of a utility move, like I would use it when an oponent would use a potion.

  7. For starters:

I would just give the starter pokemon each an egg move, and determing the power of that egg move by how powerful the starter is. It may give some incentive to pickup a starter that might even be availble as an event pokemon since these will have a move you need to breed for to begin with, and breeding isnt something everyone does. These are my suggestions for egg moves, the only one I am iffy on is Oshawott, since most of his egg moves are on the powerful side, and since he is a bit underatted, gicing him night slash is apealing, but could be too strong. Froakie has however prbably the worse egg move pool, so mud sport is probably the best one to give it early since it can help with the first gym since froakie is already weak to electric.

    Charmander - Bite; Bulbasaur - Sludge; Squirtle - Yawn/AquaRing/AguaJet

    Cindaquil - DoubleKick; Chikorita - LeechSeed; Totodile - AquaJet/MetalClaw

Torchic - LowKick; Treecko - BulletSeed; Mudkip - Curse

    Chimchar - Encore; Turtwig - BodySlam; Piplup - IcyWind/Agility/AquaRing/Yawn

    Tepig - BodySlam; Snivy - Persuit/Glare; Oshawott - NightSlash

    Fennekin - Wish/Hypnosis; Chespin - Curse; Froakie - MudSport

Also i think the tyrogue trade can be put sooner than route 1 without really being all that bad, before aya maybe?

Drowzee being availble early should be ok, since he isnt all that much more powerful than meowstick.

I also think wooper, poliwag, and Tympole can be availble earlier that the island, not all of them, but one of them availble earier as a rainy day event would be nice.

  8. Every time Fern shows up:

"Alright, you know the drill, (charizard sweep)..."

    Overall:

"It seems without me, this region would fall apart like a house of cards in a tornado, so I may as well do the right thing and at least help save it, however I would like to do this by being as ruthless and merciless to the bad guys as possible, they only deserve the worst afterall, I'm sure my charizard wouldnt mind turning them into BBQ..."

  9. I mean, I took my magnezone against Charolette, as it was the best way I could bait flare blitz from darmanitan so I could switch into flash fire arcanine and eat it up. It worked about 50% of the time, sometimes darmanitan would go for hammer arm and wail my arcanine in the face, while other times he would use flare blitz on my dusknoir who was trying to set up trick room, and OHKO it XD.

  10. We need to think of replacements though. Not much can replace Heatmor's place in the bottom of a volcano.

I mean there's torkoal, but i think he suffers the same issue heatmor does.

  11. Wouldn't claydol trivialize Aya almost completely?

I guess it would make her a whole lot esier than it is, just trying to think of an earlier spot to put it where it would be appealing to use it. Maybe after aya?

  12. I would like to see baltoy be availble earlier than it is, as it rarely gets any love, and it would be a great asset for fighting Aya.

You're absolutely right, it's not strong, it's ridiculously overpowered!

It's very decent on all levels with any stab move, but the moment it learns brave bird and flare blitz it becomes a one hitting machine, nothing weak to fire or flying is safe and anything even remotely frail is shivering in fear at the sound of the mighty hawk's chwirk. So yeah I don't blame Ame for not putting it in.

That and priority acrobtics at level 44 is already borderline gross. Samson might as well not exist if talonflame was availble.

  13. So did some breeding, and managed to grab a few more egg moves on my pokes. Thanks for the advice all!

  14. I... honestly think I might be stuck.

I can't figure out any way to beat Samson, especially since I can't head back to Agate (so no Bull training, breeding, catching earlier pokemon, etc.) and I've already done the Crustle puzzle so I can't train against them either, so my only options for grinding levels are the woefully underleveled/unevolved (L. 51 Rufflet's the highest I've seen) pokemon in the Route 2 area/Celestine Cascade area.

    Currently running...

    Torterra (L. 64) with Wood Hammer/Earthquake/Crunch/Curse

    Machamp (L. 63) with Dynamic Punch/Cross Chop/Rock Smash/Strength

    Emolga (L. 64) with Acrobatics/Discharge/Cut/Light Screen

    Grumpig (L. 64) with Psychic/Power Gem/Shadow Ball/Trick Room

    Bouffalant (L. 64) with Thrash/Swords Dance/Megahorn/Reversal

    and Gastrodon (L. 64) with Mud Bomb/Sludge Wave/Muddy Water/Recover.

I've managed to get as far as 1-1 with Grumpig v. Hawlucha, but I can't seem to beat Fly. Apart from hoping I get lucky with Bounce Grumpig (could teach over trick room/shadow ball and switch back afterwards), I'm thinking my only option seems to be training a wild Meditite or boxed Noibat (this will take a long time since I don't have any good grinding spots and the highest-leveled noibat I have is level 37).

EDIT: Seems I was a bit hasty about the wild levels being too low, about 5 minutes into playing afterwards I found a level 59 Noctowl

EDIT (Again): Seems Bounce did the trick. I can actually progress now, yay

I know you said you already beat samson, but just some info on the crustles. You can rage powder them awake from the holes, faint the one that was in the hole, and the cave where it came from will start spawning them again endlessly, training for days.
