  1. This might be the case of a bug working in my favor, but on the off chance it breaks something horrendous down the line I'm reporting it.  Currently the Move Relearner in Blackview will happily give me infinite relearns despite having 0 heart scales.  I got the Heart Scale in Silver Rise and no other ones.  Only thing I can think of is that I have been having Honey Gather trigger a lot with my Ribombee and I haven't seen my Heart Scale since.  With that said it also hasn't used my Honey either so I'm very confused.  Save File attached

Edit: found a heart scale beneath the Move Relearner house in Blackview, it did not show up in my inventory.

  2. I kept meaning to post my team in this thread but I ended up forgetting, dug up the old screenshot and here's the ol' Goon Squad that took down the endgame for me.

    Spoiler

    Prometheus (Gengar) @ Black Sludge
    Ability: Cursed Body
    EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
    Timid Nature
    - Shadow Ball
    - Hypnosis
    - Sludge Bomb
    - Dazzling Gleam
The Problem Solver.  Sometimes you hit a hypnosis and you get 2 kills off of your monstrously high special attack

    Latte (Lopunny) @ Lopunnite
    Ability: Limber
    Shiny: Yes
    EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
    Jolly Nature
    - Fake Out
    - Return
    - High Jump Kick
    - Ice Punch

The Doubles Queen.  Mega Lop has always been my favorite mega, and being useful even through the endgame with blistering speed and massive power off of great unresisted Dual STAB is perfect.

    Horizons (Salamence) @ Flyinium Z
    Ability: Intimidate
    EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
    Adamant Nature
    - Dragon Dance
    - Dragon Claw
    - Fly
    - Earthquake

Problem Solver 2: Why Don't You Just Disappear Edition.  When problems aren't solved by Hypnosis, +1 Z-Fly tends to do the trick.  Wanna see a magic trick?  I'm about to make all the HP disappear.

    Gray (Ninetales-Alola) @ Light Clay
    Ability: Snow Warning
    EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
    Timid Nature
    - Blizzard
    - Aurora Veil
    - Nasty Plot
    - Dazzling Gleam

The Glue.   Alolatales is up there in usage for a really, REALLY good reason.  Aurora Veil almost makes the E4 too easy sometimes.  Being the fastest Veiler around helps, and strong Dual STAB even off of low sp.atk is huge.

Sol Badguy (Typhlosion) @ Choice Specs
    Ability: Flash Fire
    Hidden Power: Electric
    EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
    Timid Nature
    IVs: 0 Atk
    - Eruption
    - Flamethrower
    - Extrasensory
    - Hidden Power

My starter, my gamelong companion.  The Nuker.  Sometimes you just needed something gone.  Turns out Choice Specs Eruption is still pretty good.  Raining hot and juicy Napalm Death in doubles baybee

    Yoko (Scizor) @ Life Orb
    Ability: Technician
    Shiny: Yes
    EVs: 150 HP / 252 Atk / 108 Def
    Adamant Nature
    - Swords Dance
    - U-turn
    - Bullet Punch
    - Knock Off

The Cleaner.  When all else failed, Yoko did not.  The savior of my fights against Anna and Lin.

Hello! So firstly your save should be fixed. A question for you would be well, do you remember if you had a repel active before you updated to E6? The Jinx Scent was working as intended, however due to "Repels" being valuables now in Desolation, we removed the Repel step counter, so whatever happened with your save file, there was a Repel active but was never decreasing in steps.

Yeah that fixed it!  Can 100% confirm I had a repel active before updating.  I pretty much always did since I did a lot of backtracking.  Thanks!

Can you send your save file?

Yeah absolutely!  Here's my file attached.  Of note this is a completed E5 file going into E6.  Hope that helps!  Sorry for forgetting to attach it earlier.  I can also add that Old Woodland and a couple of other assorted areas are having the same issue.  Adjusting it up or down doesn't help.

EDIT: It's acting like a repel, which either is the intended way or I literally cannot read, so if that's the case I apologize.  First step into any grass with a pokemon lower level than the area is an encounter.  If that's intended, please lock and dispose of this thread

    Game_2.rxdata

  5. So I first noticed this in the EV Caverns, but despite changing the Jinx Scent in and outside of them to be anywhere from 0100 to 9999 no encounters are happening at all.  I haven't gone full test on this and checked every area but multiple areas with encounters are just...not having any.  I'll edit this post when I test more areas with more updates.

  6. Congratulations to the entire team.  I've been here since right before 14.5 and it's been an absolute blast to see this game and the team grow.  Y'all did it.  You made it home.  Take a rest, you've earned it and then some.

  7. In my file that I started on E14, special shoutout to my Gardevoir who basically hard carried me through a good few fights, my starter Typhlosion who swept Kiki with a creative use of Nature Power and Flame Charge, and then this bad boy right here who is consistently a monster, under spoiler cut since its an image

7d9f2a02ffdf5909870cdf592983347c.png Sheer Force Nidoking is a hell of a beast, shame it doesn't get amazing until you level Nidorino up to...43? If I recall for Earth Power

On my current file that I'm playing through for giggles?  That's been the Bronzong and Arcanine show.  I don't know what it is this playthrough, maybe it's because I didn't have a consistent Fire type since I picked Torterra, but Arcanine is just an absolute beast in Reborn, even when its still a Growlithe!  Also Bronzong just kinda....did things.  I can't explain it but it just sat there and made Aya an absolute pushover it was absurd.  What's a Dragalge to a Big Bell?

  8. Spoiler

    d59f75f5e0d97c41085a811a46509253.png

Definitely should not be able to walk here, or through the boat for that matter.  This is Oceana Pier.  Also because I hadn't been there in a while, I got the Venoshock TM and when I went into this building for the first time after getting it, the "The factory shorted out!" message played and turned the screen dark for a bit.

  9. Spoiler

So I'm not sure if this is a bug or some RPGMaker weirdness when you update versions, I cannot access the "I Need To Get Stronger!" help request, despite, as far as I know, having completed every part of that help request chain to this point.  I can't even do "Battle Me Again?" in Sheridan....and I think due to how far I am in story I can't access the original "Battle Me" quest in East Gearen.

  10. I'm not sure if it's me or the game, but I've experienced constant hanging scripts.  This is just the latest.  One of the other various ones not pictured here is a Sucker Punch hang, but I chocked that up to Sucker Punch never working ever in anything, so that's that.

    Spoiler

    cf5e6be5e76b1baa679086b79f1a2319.png

I'm now trapped in that cutscene and it won't continue at all.  I have my backup save thankfully so I can reset and see if I can try and push through, but for now here's my game file to see if anything is up with it.  It's one that started in....I think no later than V8, for sure, I don't quite recall the start version, but it was used in V10 Beta testing, if that matters.

EDIT: So a second run of this cutscene except I talked to Erin from the bottom left chair made it run fine.  Just a small update in case that helps in fixing...whatever the heck happened there.

  11. Huh.  We ranked Primarina and Incineroar and neglected to deal with Decidueye.  whoops.  Might as well handle that + another Gen 7 ghost type here as well.  Right, one with the show then.   Let's start with Decidueye.

    Decidueye For B Rank!

    Pros

    - Solid, solid balanced stats, with nothing being below 70.

    - Starter!  Perfect availability.

    - Ghost/Grass is a neat and pretty awesome typing, with good resistances like Fighting, Normal, Ground, and Water.

    - Movepool is excellent, much like the other Gen 7 starters, with things like Leaf Blade, Sucker Punch, Brave Bird, Synthesis, and Nasty Plot for special variants, all via level up!

    - Spirit Shackle is a fantastic move, the 2nd strongest single turn physical ghost move in the game aside from Spectral Thief, and it also traps the target as well.  Can be useful for certain setups.

    - No seriously this thing's movepool is actually amazing.

    - Rowlet.

    Cons

    - Base 70 speed is...awkward, at best.

    - Grass/Ghost whilst good, is also really really bad in some scenarios.  Key weaknesses to ice, fire, dark, and ghost can keep it from doing its job.

    - Needs TMs to really make a special set work.

    - Needs to boost up to really hit hard, base 107/100 attack/sp.atk is nice but not quite good enough to make a dent in things.

    - Dartrix

    Mimikyu for B Rank!

    Pros

    - One of the BEST typings in the game.  Ghost/Fairy is INCREDIBLE.  When your two weaknesses are Steel and Ghost, you're doing something right.  You're even immune to 3 amazing offensive types, Normal, Fighting, AND Dragon.  Come on!

    - Natural movepool is solid.  Play Rough, Shadow Sneak, Hone Claws, Wood Hammer via Relearner, Pain Split, the list goes on.

    - Disguise.  Honestly Disguise on its own deserves to be A rank, that ability is just so good.  It guarantees you a turn to do whatever the heck you want, just once.  Can't keep you safe from status, but you can definitely play around that easily enough.

    - Solid statline.  90 attack and 96 speed is pretty good given your typing.

    Cons

    - Availability.  E17 content onward only, but I get the feeling it'll justify the B rank in 18 onward.

    - Its stats are good, but not THAT good.  Despite the typing a stiff breeze will KO it after the Disguise is broken.

    - It REALLY wants Swords Dance.  Badly.

    - Your best Ghost move is Shadow Claw, ouch.

    - Lack of burst power without access to things like its exclusive Z crystal or even just Ghostium/Fairium.

  12. As people have mentioned, Luna is pretty dang easy.  There's a plethora of Pokemon available that kind of just accidentally wreck her.  Dark type + dazzling gleam power up in that field = ouch.  For me though, outside of her post-E14 Shade has been one of the easiest leaders for me.  The fact that his Gengar is no longer just a run killer because of Shadow Ball is so nice.  I dunno if it's just me being more prepared or not after being destroyed in my first playthrough of E14 back in the day, but Shade has now become the easiest leader for me to trounce without much thought.

  13. Huh.  I'm a Veteran.  May as well reintroduce myself since I'm gonna try and lurk around the forums more.  So, here goes I suppose.  Also apologies to Kuro, I'm jacking your format.  It's useful!!

    Who am I?
Call me Ben.  I'm a relatively friendly guy who probably butts into the Team Showcase part of the forum too much for his own good.  I tend to be an advocate for lesser used Pokemon in playthroughs of Reborn and Rejuvenation, particularly early game Poison types like Garbodor and Swalot.  If any of you follow Kaioken0591 on youtube, I'm the Ben that shows up in his Free For Alls occasionally, and I've also shown up in DuncanKneeDeep's as well~  Speaking of Youtube, during the second season of the MBL(a multi battle league), I came in early on as a backup analyst to help the team out, and ended up appearing in a decent number of videos, as well as interviewing the team of DuncanKneeDeep and Shofu for a video!  That was a lot of fun.  I also stream very rarely, still working out the kinks on that.  OBS hates me I swear.

    Anything you're repsonsible for?
Aside from the aforementioned MBL things on Youtube, I don't have much to my name.  I don't think I've done much here, though if I've gotten more people to use Garbodor and Swalot, that's always a plus.

If you had to pick a post to introduce yourself

Oof, this is gonna go way way back to when I first started showing up here but it was a thread I started regarding well...Garbodor, and how it, and other Pokemon that people don't use often, can be suprisingly useful, and was a thread people could post in to talk about that kind of thing.  Here is the thread if you want to take a look.  This is from over 3 years ago now...holy crap.

What can I talk to you about?

Anything, really!  I'm pretty friendly, if snarky and kind of distant sometimes.  I tend to ramble on more than is good for me, however.  With that said, if you need someone to talk MTG or Fire Emblem with(though I'm sure the latter is less of an issue than it used to be, especially these days!), I'm more than willing to chat.

    Closing Remarks

Reborn has been a lot of fun to play through the years.  I started in E14, and Pre 14.6 too, and it's been an absolute joyride to see all the changes and improvements Reborn has gone through.  We're nearing the home stretch of episodes, though I'm not quite sure how long it'll be before we see the finale....hopefully before I hit 30.  I kid, I kid!

  14. Beta tests are interesting, because it takes a very specific kind of mindset to be willing to go through with it.  You have to be able to go "I'm going to have to possibly set aside my personal enjoyment of the game at this time to attempt and break it in as many ways as humanly possible."  This can mean anything from checking a crapton of collission boxes, to even simple things like "do these doors still work the way they should in older areas".  Either way, I threw my hat into the ring on the application, so let's see how things turn out.  Excited for V10!

I have all the snacks. I think I might have to chase him into a stone slab?
I honestly dont know. Tried clicking him while chasing (Like the Totodile event, doesnt work either)

Thaaaat's where I'm at, so I got nothing.  No totodile nonsense either, which is strange.

  16. Honestly?  All 3 will likely be fine overall, with some of them being better in certain parts depending on the situation.  Incineroar, for example, would completely and utterly dunk on everything Shade knows and loves.  Decidueye is never going to be bad, as Ghost types tend to always find some use in Reborn, and Ghost/Grass is an interesting typing.  Primarina, as you mentioned, has the most generically good typing of the three, and good STABs(Surf/Sparkling Aria/Hydro Pump and Moonblast)to spam.  Their major problem is the problem that's gonna plague a loooot of Alola Pokemon: they're slow.  Two base 60s and a base 70(Decidueye) are...not going to doing you any favors.  Anyways, some quick pros/cons I suppose.

    Decidueye

    Pros

Ghost/Grass is a nice typing, defensively and offensively.

    - Spirit Shackle is a great STAB option, effectively physical Shadow Ball for Decidueye with a trap effect instead of a Sp.Def drop chance.

    - Good bulk of 78/75/100

    - Mixed offenses AND access to both Nasty Plot(Level up) and Swords Dance(TM, unavailable currently).

    Cons

Special movepool doesn't exist without TMs, most of which we don't have(Shadow Ball for people who started E15, Energy Ball as well)

    - That speed is still mediocre at best sometimes.

    - Whilst its offenses are good, you really want to be able to boost up before you attack.

    - Ghost/Grass is an awkward typing sometimes.  Looking at you, bulky Dark types.

    Incineroar

    Pros

    - Assuming Hidden Abilities of the starters are available, easily has the best of the 3 in Intimidate.

    - Darkest Lariat is a strong as hell Dark move that ignores any stat boosts, useful!

    - 95/90/90 bulk is QUITE good, and base 115 attack isn't something to snuff at either.

    - Natural access(via relearner or level up) to: Flare Blitz, Bulk Up, and Cross Chop alongside nicher moves like Outrage and Swagger.

    Cons

    - Dark/Fire whilst a good offensive typing, leaves a bit to be desired defensively.

    - Once again, slooooooow.

    - Little bit of a suicide attacker, a la Staraptor.  You're probably going to hit Flare Blitz a lot and that damage racks up.

    Primarina

    Pros

    - Water/Fairy is an AMAZING typing, one of the best around.

    - Natural movepool basically has all you need: Hydro Pump, Sparkling Aria, and Moonblast.  Let's hope Ice Beam comes soon.

    - 126 special attack and 116 special defense.  This thing can sponge a special hit and retaliate HARD.

    - No seriously I don't think you understand how hard Primarina hits.  Choice Specs are available now, hop to it people!

    Cons

Slow and physically frail, not a great combination.  80/74 is ok, much like Decidueye, but it's still a tad frailer than you'd like.

    - Its best single targetting Water attack is Hydro Pump, at best unreliable.  This can be awkward given how many Double Battles we tend to find ourselves in.

    - Honestly I'm having a little trouble finding some flaws here.  Primarina is pretty generically good as they come.

  17. If you're willing to do a slight bit of breeding for Grimer, once you're able to catch Duskull you can breed it with Grimer to get a Grimer with Curse and Shadow Sneak, letting you do things like run Shadow Sneak/Curse/Poison Jab(or Gunk Shot)/coverage move where that 4th slot is basically whatever the heck you want it to be.  It did a lot of work in my mono poison run.

  18. If I'm not mistaken 11/5's update is

Grubbin/Charjabug/Vikavolt:  Unimplemented > Catchable in the Wild/Repeatable Event

Joltik: In-Game Event > catchable in the wild/repeatable event

Galvantula: Obtainable through Evolution > Catchable in wild/repeatable event

    The electric bugs are coming

EDIT: Ninja'd by 5 hours holy crap i didn't pay attention

  19. @FairFamily   Yeah I forgot to put the late evo on the cons.  Probably should move Garbodor to C- in that case.  Editting post in a moment.  Swalot is basically the same, and in fact is probably C instead of C- because it evolves 10 levels earlier than Garbodor, level 26 instead of 36.  Only real difference is access to Encore as support and Acid Spray 5 levels later as than Trubbish.

  20. Given how Kricketune is C tier, I see no reason not to nominate Garbodor for the same tier.  EDIT: Upon review and some feedback, I say C- for Garbodor instead.  That late evolution at 36 really really hurts.

    Garbodor

    Pros

    - Incredible availibility, right from the start in fact, just search the Alleys.

    - Acid Spray as Trubbish at level 12, an incredibly useful base 40 power move that lowers the enemy's Sp.def by two stages on hit.

    - Mono poison typing means it completely blanks PULSE Tangrowth, and also lowers its significant bulk with Acid Spray.

    - Access to Stockpile and Toxic, both regular and of the Spikes variety, means it can simply outlast certain things with healing items

    - Helps significantly against both Florinia, Corey, and other various fights throughout the early to midgame, right up to about Kiki.

    - Aftermath is a solid and useful ability, can be great for picking up a double KO in desperate situations.

    Cons

Mono poison typing means you're useless against certain leaders like Shade and Radomus.

    - Lack of any relevant coverage sans TMs like Psychic, Thunderbolt. or even Focus Blast, of which we currently have access to none of.

    - Even with Stockpile, lack of any consistent recovery aside from Swallow means it's all to easy to get worn down without a heavy supply of healing items, leading it to be a cash grabber.

    - Other than Aftermath its other two abilities, Stench and Weak Armor, aren't great.  Stench CAN be useful with its flinch chance, but Weak Armor is actively a downside.

    - Relatively late Evolution of 36, leaving you with Trubbish for longer than you want.

    - Falls off HARD after the midgame, becoming virtually useless.  Poor thing.

Of note, all points I've made for Garbodor here can also apply to Swalot, so putting it in the same spot might be a good idea.

EDIT: Small set of pros and cons for Swalot that are different.

    Pros

    - Encore access, something Garbodor lacks.

    - Semi early evolution of 26(!), meaning you'll have it before  Shade.

    - Destiny Bond via egg moves.  Usually fat enough to take a hit, no sash required!

    - Most pros that Garbodor has, Swalot does as well.

    Cons

    - When Liquid Ooze is your best ability, you're pretty bad off here.

    - Slow as molasses.  Base 55 isn't awful but it's a real drawback in a lot of cases.

    - Every con that Garbodor has, Swalot has in some way.
