  1. I don't particularly care about the third versions or sequels, so I'm quite lukewarm towards Ultra Sun/Moon. That being said, if it actually features "new" pokemon, and not just transformers legendaries, then I might be more interested. Regardless, I'd like to see less of a focus on Z-Moves and a return to Megas, plus Lillie as the new champion. Also, it's kind of ironic how GF said that Z-Moves where created so that all pokemon could benefit from it unlike Mega Evolution, but it seems that they are going all-out with the pokemon exclusive Z-Moves in the sequel games (with what looks like Lycanroc and Mimikyu Z-Moves).

Also, I'm guessing that US/UM will be the last pokemon games on the 3DS, which means the next games would be gen 8 on the Switch probably launching in 2019/2020.

Gale Wings isn't broken in-game at all. Hell, Flame Body probably is better in the long run! First thing first, for the AI, Choice Items are TERRIBLE because of how exploitative they are. All you have to do is predict the move, and the opposing mon is chump-change. Gale wings is good in PVP because people actually utilize Choice Scarf with the switch command. In-game, Gale Wings unneeded because Talonflame is already faster than any Unchoiced threats. There are only 8 non-legend, non-mega pokemon that even outspeed Talonflame. Those being: Jolteon, Aerodactyl, Ninjask, Crobat, Acelgor, and Electrode. Talonflame already has a bad matchup against half of them and is killing the two bugs with ease with or without Gale Wings. Talonflame's attack is only 81, not considered high or even above-average. Talonflame's moveset is also atrocious early on, only really getting powerful at level 44, so he will really be held back during early boss fights (I know from experience, his first breakout battle was Kiki, and she's already pretty weak).

My point about Reuniclus was that it is severely outclassed for its acquisition since Metagross does its tank job better(Recovery moves are useless in-game) It should be obtainable earlier because it doesn't need to be a late-game mon.

Don't get me wrong, Talonflame isn't the main focus of the topic, there are plenty of other Pokemon that aren't as good upon further scrutiny (Gligar, Skarmory, and Rotom come to mind). He was just the one in the center of my mind

Chatot is probably the only questionable earlygame boss for me mostly because of nasty plot. it can destroy so many things with Chatter thanks to its 100% confuse rate. I feel it would be more manageable without nasty plot.

The thing is, many of the gym leaders rely on some of these choice items. Also, leaders tend to use pokemon that are higher level than our own mons (especially the aces), which a lot of the times outspeed our entire team. You are underestimating the utility of Gale Wings, Talonflame learns Roost as a level up move, and a priority healing move is very useful. Not only that but priority Brave Bird hits very hard, harder than you think it does.

Also being bad in the early to mid game shouldn't be a factor, since late game Talonflame is borderline broken. A situation very similar to Greninja, who is only available because it is a starter. I don't think Talonflame should even be discussed, with the inclusion of Gen 7 it will most certainly be available earlier in the game due to Gale Wings nerf.

    EDIT:

Another important factor is that sometimes pokemon only become available when it makes sense. An example is Skarmory, it will most likely be found in the Scarpyard within the desert, because it makes sense for it to be there. Some pokemon suffer from this and become available much later than they should be (not Skarm though, that thing is broken).

If El would be droped becouse of ties to meteor, so should be lin. Also i dunno about fighting 2 elite 4 that would probably share same field effect (garden).

To be fair, laura never struck me as Elite 4 material. I mean, durning meteor attack, sapphira seemsed much more usefull than her, even though she "just" a gym leader.

She even loses to sigmunt (she was attacked instead of her pokemon, but still).
I don't know, i always feel that she wasn't really that strong, and got E4 title only becouse of her parents or something (I think we hear in game that inherit her title or am i wrong?)

That is because of Laura's ditzy personality not because she isn't a strong trainer. If you picked a certain route during those events, you can see that she is really clumsy. Also Lin isn't a part of the league, at least not yet. And it doesn't seem like she is interested with it.

There is something I'd like to ask. A lot of people assume that after the meteor events are resolved El will be kicked out of the E4 due to his ties to meteor. If that is the case then shouldn't Bennett also be fired? I mean, if anything El's position is more valid than Bennett's since he got into the E4 legitimately, whereas Bennett only got in because of a forged document. So why does everyone assume El will get the boot and Bennett will remain? I just don't see any reasonable explanation to that other than Bennett betraying team meteor and helping us defeat them. But even then, his position in the E4 would still be illegal, and he should be fired.

  4. About the champion, Ame mentioned that she became champion because she was the one to restart the league. This means that ever since the league restarted Ame was the only champion, no one else occupied that position. When we challenge Adrienn xe mentions that the position was now open, and that xe hopes the MC will be the one to become the new champion. There is no way Anna was or will become champion, there is too much evidence against that theory.

She most definitely is a member of the E4, and there are quite a few reasons for that. Of course there is the already mentioned cutscene in the orphanage, and the interview where it is stated that she holds a "high position" in the league. Since at the time she couldn't have been champion, all there is left for her is the E4. The E4 are also themed around the gemstones, every confirmed member so far (bar Bennett) had at one point owned one of the four stones. El had the Emerald Brooch, Laura had the Sapphire Bracelet and Heather had the Ruby Ring. The only character seen with the Amethyst Pendant was Anna, and her father (who people speculate is Radomus). Since Radomus is already a gym leader, this leaves Anna as the final E4 member. Also there is just no one else left for that position other than Anna, she HAS to be a part of it. Every other character already has their role within the league confirmed, be that as a gym leader, E4, former gym leader, challenger or just not being a part of it.

Many things done in Reborn are for convenience such as the nature and ability changer along with the addition of Rematch trainers in the Grand Hall. Those rematch trainers have also been changed to be more convenient so that they can be used to reduce grinding time. All of these additions are added at points where the game gets to be more difficult to better help players get through their challenges, however, they are not the easy way nor are they cheap.

Now let's hop back to the topic at hand: IVs. Now before I get into what I think, I'd like to give you a brief history lesson: back in the E10 and before era, we didn't have a convenient way to look at IVs or EVs so they weren't discussed so much and many of us still really enjoyed the game and its difficulty it has to offer. Some people could still EV train if they wanted, but it wasn't convenient. Then again, that was a time where answers were rarely handed to you on a silver platter as Reborn did not have guides. Over time, Reborn has become much more casual in a sense, but its gimmicks help counter these changes.

Now we go back to the present. While I think many of these new additions the community like guides are a great thing, there also brought consequences. I don't think I can spend a single day on Reborn anymore without at least one person mentioning a Pokemon's EVs and IVs and especially the latter. In fact, I'd consider it an obsession with the general player base in which a Pokemon can only be good if only it has good stats. And honestly, I've never paid too much attention to that stuff (I still only know what 4 natures do off the top of my head). Skill over strength is what makes a Pokemon game fun.

I won't judge Ame whether or not she decides to include features that alter IVs. For me personally, adding a feature like that is just adding fuel to a growing issue with Reborn players. Players already are focused on their stats and make sure they aren't any bad ones so this idea would invoke more people to have the mindset. On the other hand, it would be nice to have a method to balance out the online battle system, but Reborn is mostly focused on its main campaign and story which is probably the reason your playing it (cause otherwise you could stick with the main games for online).

All this talk of EVs and IVs gave me an idea for the inverse field. In that this field would reverse EVs/IVs, so that 31 IVs becomes 0 and 252 EVs become 0. This would be interesting as sort of a counter play for people who train perfect pokemon. The better your pokemon, the worse it'll become in the Inverse Field.

"I currently don't intend to add IV boosting. It's the only thing left that keeps Pokemon unique from each other, and I don't think it matters -that- much anyway except to the diehards... which is about as I'd want it, probably."

But that was before Ame decided to add Gen VII stuff though, she might have changed her mind. And I'm sure that the bottle caps are going to be programmed in the game, so if it isn't added then I'm sure there will be a mod for it.

  7. Not all of the X-Doors were axed, I'm sure a ran into at least a couple of them. That being said Ame did mention that she wanted to make the legendaries events more involved so maybe that's why she cut a good portion of these doors.

I noticed that with the one in Blackstream Factory, but I didn't check the others so I wasn't sure if it had just been removed or had its location changed (since it becomes a shelter in E16 and assuming the x doors are for legendaries would be an odd place for a legendary to be), or if my mind was just playing tricks on me and there was never a door there in the first place. I guess it's the former.

Again, assuming they're for legendaries, maybe Ame thought it was too obvious they were legendaries (and maybe also too obvious for locations, ex: Ametrine Mountain would most likely be Articuno, Regice, or Kyurem) and decided to take them out? Or maybe legendary locations and quests are currently being shuffled around to take into account the Gen 7 legends too.

Or if they're not for legendaries, maybe the event related to them has been changed.

An idea I had was that maybe instead of legendaries they were for X-League gym leader rematches in the postgame, since they're X doors. But with their removal, I guess all ideas about them are irrelevant for now.

Didn't Ame say that we would fight the leaders with their X-teams in the Disco? Although I'm personally hoping that she will implement a system similar to Sun/Moon where you fight them to defend your title as champion. Would also be cool to include some other NPCs like the Ringmaster, Corrin Rouge, Aster, Orderly John and Craudburry in the League rematch fights.

  8. The starters don't need to all have megas for the game to be balanced. That's because by the point we would be able to get the mega stones for all the starters we will probably have access to every starter alternate event. Reborn tries to stick to the official games as much as possible, so I wouldn't count on it having any new megas.

    EDIT:

Not to mention that this idea wouldn't fix the early to mid game balance for the starters. Blaziken will always be better than Meganium for like 90% of the story, even if the latter had a mega.

The Dex entry describes it as a formerly wild pokemon, and it's remarked upon in the game that the PULSE was in a really weird location. Shelly points out in quite a bit of dialogue that she thinks it's strange to have the machine out in the open instead of blocking off choke points of the mountain.

shamelessly stealing the screenshots from DerogatoryTrainer's nuzlocke bc I can't find my own rn

But maybe I misinterpreted that? There's also the part where the PULSE is mentioned to be malfunctioning, so whatever its purpose was, it would appear it was no longer fulfilling it the way it was meant to be.

    QjqNQcM.png

Just because the pokemon was formally a wild one doesn't mean that Team Meteor wasn't involved. To me this seems more like something that Lin would do in order to send the heroes into a wild goose chase just so she can laugh at them. Starving Ametrine doesn't really serve any purpose whatsoever, so there is no reason for this PULSE to exist.

Another theory is that they were testing out the PULSE machine for the first time (after Magnezone) with a wild Bergmite they happened to find in the mountain, and that's why it malfunctioned. And it just so happened to block the way to Ametrine and so Lin, being the sociopath she is, wanted to make the citizens suffer so she ordered Blake to hide the food.

I'd doubt we'll ever get to battle PULSE forms of Garbodor (as in, with an actual, mutated sprite) or Camerupt.
The 'mon we meet, Biggles, is the reason for the existence of the entry, and wasn't a planned PULSE - much like Avalugg it just happened to find a machine by accident. Meteor didn't create PULSE Garbodor, not even sure if they're really aware it's a thing that existed.

"Function" in their cases refers to the effect PULSE has on them, and doesn't imply intentional creation.

And I don't see us fighting Camerupt unless Team Meteor decides they need to use this PULSE type for anything again.

Um, I'm pretty sure that the PULSE Avalugg was something that Team Meteor planned to do. Since Blake mentioned that he was ordered to hide the food from Ametrine in order to starve the citizens. So I don't believe the Avalugg accidentally found the machine... Unless I'm missing something?
