the increase of levels of pokemons at daycare depend on the number of steps i take in the game or the time passed ingame?

Forgot to ask if u know how many steps needed for one level up?

1 step = 1 EXP gained. So.. if a pokémon needs 500 xp to level up, 500 steps, etc.
