why do fossilised pokemon die if you try to revive it?

just spam the mining rock and the f12 key until you find a helix fossil. ps i found mine on my 19th try EDIT: can anyone tell me where the slayer of the trees is and/or who is it to aid my finding?

i know he says to find the killer of the trees. and i have already fought the 2 meteor grunts that stole the fossils.

i have already beaten the 11th gym if that helps you and i also have a helix fossil.

i am in tanzan mountain after beating the grunts. if this helps. i also have a helix fossil and a plume fossil.

How do i do the order of the helix. i seem to be stuck after the battle with the 2 grunts. can anyone tell me where to go or what to do. I cannot find much information on the forums itself. Much help needed. Thx.
