Um I believe they are used to buy stuff in the site shop *left side of screen* like ace trainer status and stuff. ^^

If your willing to try getting a Shinx at the game corner and evolving it could help against his Crobat. *Also helped me set up on the ghost leader* If you do get one I think it's Rivalry ability is useful.

I think i used a Luxray with the rivalry ability (which does more damage to same gender pokemon.) Since Luxray resists Rotom it's easy to set up.
