Wheelies are actually less dangerous than one might think, if you know what you are doing. The trick is to suddenly increase speed while throwing you wheight back, so that the combined effect of the torque and the shifting wheight will lift the wheels off the ground.

After you do that, you want to immediately move all of your wheight in the opposite direction, so that you can return to normal position BEFORE you can fall upside down. I can do it with those plastic tricycles for kids, so I can do it with virtually anything. But being a very skinny guy, my wheight isn't enough to dramatically alter the balance of something as heavy as an ATV...

I'm glad you went ahead after making a commitment. I'm also glad you didn't go overboard... Literally.
