      And further, too many sidequests is actually legitimately bad game design. Giving too many offshoots distracts from and disrupts the main storyline

      It's like, if you're trying to watch a movie but all around the screen there's a bunch of flashing multicolored lights, it's going to disrupt your movie-watching, even if they are pretty lights

      IDK the game, so I can't say whether you've got too many flashing lights or not, what I was saying is that developing minor characters isn't actually a guarantee that a game is good. How the story and characters are revealed is a lot more important than what is revealed
