Member of staff here + one of the people that does balancing.

Souta was too much in several stages of testing and his current state has been after in turn, several nerfs. Strong Winds gives him a MASSIVE buff yes, and we are looking at the fight again.

That being said I do genuinely feel the counterplay here is being understated. Electric types hard wall Dragonite and Skarmory, some of his biggest threats. Rock types wall his ace, Pidgeot in turn. Steel types combine aspects from both. Those 3 are some of his biggest damage dealers. Swanna is unique in that defensive counterplay is harder to find, but in turn it's easy to kill due to it's comparably low bulk. The tailwind isn't particularly hard to stall out from personal experiences. Skarmory isn't hard to find checks to and you can basically wait out most of the tailwind turns on it. This turns most of his team bar Pidgeot into simply generally bulky hard hitters instead of juggernauts in every aspect.

Strong Electric moves like Thunderbolt and Thunder still essentially deal super effective damage between the field boost and the STAB boost. Most Electric types get one or the other and Thunder in particular has a juicy 30% chance to paralyse, something that can be -very- advantageous.

Moves like Smack Down(The TM of which is available and some Pokemon get it via level up), Gravity and Ingrain can all bring it down the to the mountain field, where his Sky Attacks aren't as easily spammable.

Stealth Rock, a move that many rock types can get early on, cripples most of his team upon entry. From personal experience it also makes most of the team much more bearable thanks to reduced bulk.

Finally, something that went COMPLETELY unmentioned in that post up there is how amazing flying types of your own are on there. Similarly from personal experience and having seen other people beat the fight, Flying types put in a LOT of work, taking advantage of the strong winds themselves and the power boost to flying moves. Talonflame, Crobat, Staraptor,Oricorio, the list of good flying types goes on. In fact his only real checks for most are Skarmory and Dragonite if Multiscale is in tact. The double edged sword part in the gym guide is true, just in the wrong way in my eyes.

    Segueing onto a related topic.

This is the start of late game in my eyes and I feel that between the amount of options available to the player, the amount of items, the easy grinding means that in my eyes, the conditions of the fights can start getting harsher. I can somewhat see why people might think Souta is too much and as I said, we'll be looking over the fight again, but do note that as the amount of variety the player gets increases, the chance for consistently difficult boss fights decreases which is something we're trying not to have happen too much. The Sun on Amber isn't there on reg mode because that's just about midgame, having an instant offensive boost on top of a field is absolutely too much there, whereas Souta is late game, where making consistently difficult fights is harder. The difference in context explains the reasoning's behind one not having it in regular mode and the other doing so.

    Spoiler

lol don't get me wrong, I said it was too much for the easier modes, I personally like hellish fights like this haha, it was a perfect fight for intense mode. Team composition plays a huge role in the fight as well, I pretty much strolled in there with no electric types at first, then I went back and added Ampharos, and I ended up being fine. All of your points are valid like Dnite being walled by electric types, and Swanna dying in one hit. He didnt have a skarm when I fought him tho. But if I had to choose a mon that gave me a hard time, it would be Braviary

I'm going to be straightforward and honest.

Note that all I say here now is purely on the Normal/Regular difficulty.

The Gym Leader battle, in my honest opinion, is one of the worst designed battles in all of Rejuvenation so far.

The combination of field, Tailwind (That, by the way, you have no way of stopping from going up.) and, most damningly, Strong Winds, means that you are extremely limited on options.

You can't out-offense Souta because of the Strong Winds. You can't reliably survive against Souta either because of field-boosted Sky Attack's and Hurricane's, which can also flinch or confuse you, adding another layer of cheapness to the battle.

Bringing Steel and Rock-types is of only debatable usefulness, the former because of Scald, Surf, Thunder and Heat Wave. The latter due to Scald, Surf and Steel Wing. You are literally forced into bringing resistances, even if you did not have any, and even then you are more or less forced to bring exactly Electric-types. And even then, they can't do much back and lose in the long-term to field-boosted Hurricanes.

Also, I am pretty sure that, if you did not capture a Pokemon with Cloud Nine before entering the GDC Area post-Erick, I am pretty sure you cannot get a Pokemon with Cloud Nine whatsoever.

Meaning you are either forced to spam items or get extraordinarily lucky, or go out of your way to basically train up an entirely new team.

For one battle. On Normal difficulty.

There is an easy way to fix this battle and make it somewhat more fair: Make it so that Souta's Strong Winds only show up in Intense Mode. As far as I am aware, Amber only gets Sun on Intense mode. You honestly want to tell me that Amber getting Sun is worse than Souta getting four extra resistances or so to every single one of his Pokemon?

    Spoiler

Yea I had that shit on Intense, and that battle definitely had a lot of cheese to it lol, I had to bring back an OG member, being Ampahros just to beat him. The attacks are so powerful setting up screens barely helped. Dealing with the tailwind, strong winds boost, and hax made this a hellish battle. Definitely shouldn't be a part of the the easier modes.

  3. So I've been trying to figure out all the obtainable items you can get from the guy, since I actually heard the reaper cloth was put in the game, I was hoping this guy would give us access to items such as the reaper cloth, razor claw, protector, electrizer, ect. So I can evolve this damn Sneasal that I've had since forever lol

This almost feels like a replacement to mining because all I've found are:

    Spoiler

Shiny stones, dawn stones, dusk stones, jaw and sail fossils, and also a Wishiwashi - using the gourmet bait

The other baits really dont get you anything you probably dont already have (heart scales, potions, basic stones)

Has anybody else found anything different though?

...How do you do that without triggering the freeze, though? Mr. Glitchy Officer's kinda hindering my progress and that regard (and my ability to get the last of the Kimono Girls, for that matter).

You're supposed to enter the district of hope from the other side (going thru axis high), thats how you avoid the cutscene freeze

Edit: oops didnt know you found another solution lol

  5. Like I said @shadowalker35 the EV training Card Guide in the main post should still work.

Also, everyone if you have a place that you think is suitable for EV training (outside of the ev training center or, even better than the training center) please list them. List the area, pokemon, and EVs. It would really help the updating process.

Signs of a good EV training area:

-High effort values available ( 2-3 EVs )

-The pokemon in the area mainly contribute to a specific stat

-High encouter rate for a specific pokemon

  6. As you can see in the title, this isnt an offical update. With the remodeling of the entire game in V9 (which looks amazing btw), most of the areas have changed drastically. Pokemon have been added and removed to many areas and most the info provided from V8 probably won't correspond with the new version. The card guide, EV training center, and Berry info should remain the same though, and the training items have finally been introduced in Grand Dream City. But, feel free to see if the areas provided for EV training still work, I dont see why some of the stuff wouldn't be the same. A real update won't come for a while, since it would require me to actually replay and explore the whole game again. Anyways, have fun with the game and still feel free to use the thread to ask questions, exchange information, and such.

Mmm yeah ok I'm need of some help lol, Valerie has been curb stomping me left and right and I'm out of ideas.

    Team At the moment:

Muk Alola L 45 (Gluttony) Knock Off, Crunch, Gunk Shot, Poison Sweep

Decidueye L 45 (Long Reach) Leaf Blade, Spirit Shackle, Sucker Punch, Synthesis

Lycanroc Midday L 45 (Keen Eye) Stealth Rocks, Rock Slide, Crunch, Accelrock

Granbull L 44 (Intimdate) Play Rough, Stacking Shot, Charm, Bite

Quagsire L 41 (Unaware) (Cant find a ablity capulse) Water Pulse, Flame Burst, Yawn, Earthquake

Dustox L 41 (Shield Dust)  Light Screen, Toxic, Protect, Bug Buzz

Tried using light screen to then try to murder with decids leaf blade but everything outspeeds (except washi) and runs ice beam anyway so I'm lost on what to do

In Box: L 34 Pikachu (Still cant get aloan), L 41 Salazzle, L 35 Talonflame, Gothita, Mawile Zubat, Meditite Elygem, Shuppet, Klink and Happiny

Anything I should try and catch on the island?

hmm usually Dustox saves the day with light screen and toxic, but get all your pokemon to level 44-45 first, no point in being at a level disadvantage. tbh your team looks good enough to beat valarie. I guess one thing I did try during a mono-dark run, was catch a carvanha with Scary face and Swagger, then evolved it into Sharpedo, tho its frail it is a ice/water resist and and Scary face was a life saver. You definetly have the tools. Muk is a good tank, and should be able to get off good hits, if anything drop Granbull or Quag and replace with Scary Face/Swagger Sharpedo. It gets Crunch at lvl 40 so it should be a good addition to the team. But the main strategy should be setting up light screen and toxic stalling everything to death with super effective support from Decidueye. GL

Edit: You should be able to catch carvanha by fishing in terajuma jungle, since you dont have surf yet

  8. Yo did everyone else's type:null have amazing IVs? I got like 31 in everything except SpA lol, im wondering if I got lucky or if it's getting the legedary treatment, where it automatically gets 3 stats with 31 IVs

I think I am done with most of V9. What I have done is (SPOILERS AHEAD, IF THAT WASN'T OBVIOUS ALREADY):

      Hide contents

Beaten the gym leader duo and ended episode 9

Completed what I could with the Android quest

Decimated the dimensional beast (although my team is built to take it down)

    Beaten the Kimono Girls

Found Krystal's brother/friend with the Shiny Latios

Found Cera in a building being ominous

What is left for me to do?

    Spoiler

Yep you've pretty much done it all for this version, you should try going around GDC testing the weather board, different pokemon appear under different circumstances, some that may interest you. Other than that I'd prolly go explore other parts of the game, everything looks really good tbh it's worth a look.

Now I have another question I'm debating whether or not I should switch my blaziken and roserade for my mismagius in my pc

Definetly use your ghost types they work well in this battle and If you have Psychic types, use them too, the advantages they have on this field are insane. Coordinate your attacks and make them use their full restores early. I'd also focus mainly on the right side and attack the support pokemon like bronzong, when you got a chance, or if you can kill it go for it

  11. I guess you can try out the different weather and day/night scenarios throughout GDC to see if anything new comes up

    Spoiler

But im pretty sure you can only get 2 stamps in this version. I've tried most of the scenarios, but not really anything new comes up. As Alex said that's pretty much all you can do post V9 I believe. Although I thought I saw someone say that they spoke to Cassandra in the Judicial district, I have no idea how to even activate that if its true
